I had baby fine hair to begin with. I needed augmentation for years! 😀

What part of DFW?
-
I’m going to give you some straight talk. You know exactly what you have to do to get the most out of this chance you have while it’s still in the best, early stages. Right now you are choosing to continue to hold on to foods you want and habits that are easy. When you make the choice to commit to the tool you have, the chance you fought for, everything will turn around. I do not mean this to sound harsh. I mean it in a practical, common sense manner. You know all this already. You are lucky enough to be starting out smaller. You could take advantage or that...or not. Like me, you’re not the youngest kid in the school yard, so why would you want to waste time messing around? It just gets more difficult as time passes. It’s all in your hands. It’s yours to make the most of. Yours to leave sitting on the shelf.

Neck/facelift, Anyone?
Screwballski replied to Screwballski's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I am 11 day post op. My face changes daily. Lumps come and go. Swelling does the same. Most incision areas still have a lot of numbness. The process doesn’t really chill out for weeks...won’t know what I’m really going to look like until about 4 months out but what I look like now is a good indicator. Aside from a brutal 5-6 day headache, the pain has been minimal. I’m mostly itchy now. I’m going to try to post a before and after I put together a day to so ago. The bruising will be around for quite some time. -
I got hair extensions shortly after my surgery. Until I had them removed for my neck/facelift 11 days ago, I was doing all kinds of hair!😄

How many calories per day??
Screwballski replied to susunorm's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I rarely go over 800. I am compliant, healthy and had my 3 month post op review with surgeon yesterday. He’s very pleased. Even though I’m at goal, my surgeon told me not to force calories/food. If I slip 10-20 pounds under goal before my new stomach can naturally hold more, everything will be fine. If you are meeting protein, water and supplement requirements, if you are healthy, you are likely just fine. If I were to eat 1200, 1300, 1400 calories per day, I would def gain on the reg! No question. -
Shaker bottles and sippy lids (and protein powders!)
Screwballski replied to CrankyMagpie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I use pea ShakeIt pea protein which doesn’t foam AT ALL no matter how high or how long I blend it. My system no longer tolerates whey since surgery. -
North Fort Worth/Haslet/Alliance Corridor area here! Band to Sleeve revision on 5/17/18. Just had my 3 month surgeon visit today.

Hi Everyone. I am new here.
Screwballski replied to suzanne68's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My first piece of advice is to begin loving yourself right now, where you are, because it sounds like you’ve achieved A WHOLE LOT in spite of the limitations you’ve felt your weight putting on you. Second only to that, embrace yet another challenge and get ready to knock it out of the park. I can only imagine you will be an extraordinary success at this, too. -

Thanks. That's reassuring. I watched tons of videos on YouTube yesterday. Seems like lots of folks figure it out so I guess I will, too. -

any sleevers in their late 50's
Screwballski replied to tahoegirl96118's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m just a few months shy of 54. Was running errands 3 days after my May 17, 2018 surgery. Did just an overnight at hospital. -
Snapchat dysmorphia (more people want surgery to look like a filtered version of themselves rather than a celebrity)
Screwballski replied to Born in Missouri's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Just saw a news report last night that said studies show most people have plastic surgery to please themselves and not others. I know I’m having a face/neck lift on Tuesday because I’m tired of turning my head whenever there is a camera in the room. I don’t like seeing photos of my disgusting turkey neck on Facebook when my friends tag me in a photo or post a photo without my permission. I don’t need to look perfect. I’m happy with my face, but my neck is gross. And while I’m under, they might as well do the bags under my eyes. I don’t wear make up. I wear bare skin and a tan. I don’t cover my wrinkles but I’m not going out with all this gross hanging skin around my neck. I have to look at it every time I walk through the bathroom and every time a photo is snapped. I hate this more than I hated being fat.I don’t use filters. I don’t Snapchat. But I sure will stretch my arm up to hide my neck! 😀 -
Tummy Tuck without Muscle Reconstruction
Screwballski replied to Strivingforbetter's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
When I had a tummy tuck consult three years ago (before I gained back 40lbs/pre-revision) my surgeon told me I didn’t need any muscle work and my tummy tuck would be simple. I was pretty stoked. Glad I waited, though.) He told me to thank the surgeon who did the c-section for my son’s delivery. Apparently, he was an artist. The plastic surgeon couldn’t stop raving about my muscles and my scar that looked like “nothing but a loose skin wrinkle.” God bless you, Dr. Reimer, wherever you are! 😄 -
I am one pound away from my revised final goal. I thought I wanted to get to 140 but here at 151 I'm getting boney. I'm a farm girl, big boned and curvy so what sounds like a lot of weight never looks like much on me. I'm happy here. I feel good. And, my suspicions were confirmed when I went to see a plastic surgeon about a chin lift I'm having and he told me I really shouldn't lose any more weight. In fact, he said I had a beautiful, youthful look and if I lost more I'd begin to look haggard and older than my almost 54 years. Problem is, at only three months out, I'm having trouble getting to 700-800 calories a day. I just can't handle a second shake and a second protein bar as well as my food (and I'm sure as heck not going to eat crap to load calories). Plus, I am barely allowed to MOVE for the next 6-8 weeks after my neck/facelift! Any suggestions for maintenance this early on?

I do not understand why, unless there are complications, a surgeon would put a patient through two procedures. Especially at your low weight! I had the Band to Sleeve revision on May 17th. All in one day. My band was a nightmare from the very first week in 2005. I vomited for 12+ years nearly ever time I ate. Never kept a fill. Rotated port. Scar tissue. Terrible pain. You name it, I went through it...and accepted it because I was too busy to do something about it. This sleeve has changed everything. Immediately. No return of reflux. My giant port scar tissue tumor is gone. And recovery was a breeze. The nightmare is OVER!

August surgery ppl
Screwballski replied to ALEandVSG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am by no means an expert but I can't imagine that your surgeon wants you in a waist trainer until, at the very least, your incisions have fully healed. Just a guess. You really need to call that question in to your surgeon. -
I think I'm done. But how do I stop?!
Screwballski replied to Screwballski's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I appreciate all the advice. Love the smart folks here who think of the things I overlook because they are right in front of me! I'm looking forward to getting back to swimming and walking after the 6-8 weeks of mandatory "don't move your head" sentence! I did NOT know about that until I'd paid in full! Not that It would have changed my mind. Goodbye wottle. Hello not having to extend my arm to Heaven just to get a half decent shot of my face! Tuesday can't come quickly enough! (Natch, then I'll be griping about looking like a smashed pumpkin for weeks!) -
Take it from a daily weigher, the numbers mean far less than you think. I’ve been sitting right around my goal for two-three weeks. 2 pounds away. 1 pound away. 2 pounds away. 1.5 pounds away. On and on. Day after day...and I’m doing everything right! But I’ve been wearing my goal sizes for over a week. Today the scale finally showed my goal weight, too. If you follow the program, you get results. The scale isn’t always the best indication.

Logging your daily intake of food and etc.?
Screwballski replied to The Preacher's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Using an app is super easy and the rewards are great. It’s not like the old days when you had to keep a handwritten food journal. It takes a minute for each meal/snack. I don’t even bother with my liquids. I’m a big drinker. I’m hitting that mark and there’s nothing in my water or calorie free beverage I need to long. -
HELP! What am I doing wrong?
Screwballski replied to Sadie24304's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you are on liquid phase, after you cook or overnight the oats, you still need to thin them substantially. 😉 -
Centrum and vitamins. Show me
Screwballski replied to newmeinfla's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon set me up with a pre-selected shopping cart of Thorne vitamins. I’m going back to them as soon as I finish the months worth of Tespo powdered vitamins I’ve been using. The Tespo vitamins mix with water (or in shakes) but make me minimally nauseous. On two occasions when I have taken then without my shake or food they have caused vomiting and diarrhea. No bueno.
