Neck/facelift, Anyone?
Screwballski replied to Screwballski's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
I just had a follow up appointment. Dr. Rihani says my face is actually still swollen and it’s going to get better! I can’t even deal! Natch, he wants to add fillers when I’m healed but I’m not about any more messing around with my face. I’m pleased with the results. Now I just have to try to maintain my weight. I’ve dropped 18 pounds since the neck lift. THAT wasn’t part of the plan. -

How long does hair loss last
Screwballski replied to newmeinfla's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started losing my hair at approx 4 months out. I’m now 6 months out and it seems to be slowing down a little bit but still falling. I went with a chin length straight bob a few weeks ago and decided to ride it out like I own it. Biotin has been on my daily menu for years but it doesn’t overcome what the body wants to do in the grand scheme. Keep taking it because you want the new hair to grow in beautiful, though. You can private message me for a great hair, skin and nails formula. -
I second the notion that you could very well be suffering after effects of anesthesia. Some folks call fall into an intense emotional state a few days after general anesthesia, a sort of temporary depression. Even if they have never suffered from depression before. It can last a few days, a week or even a month. I watched my Mom go through this and was so happy to get the information from a medical professional within the first several days. Additionally, your body has gone through trauma. That alone could cause some hormone wonkiness/emotional imbalance for a little while. Just keep reminding yourself it’s a temporary situation. It seems simple. I know it’s not. But, it will help.

Of course you’re regretting it. You’re sitting in the suck right now! You won’t be very shortly, though, so hang on! It gets so awesome! -
My Body IS The Boss of Me!
Screwballski replied to Screwballski's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I adore people who just tell it like it is. I pretty much did exactly that. So, here's what happened, after a couple more weeks I woke up one day and a couple pounds we're gone. No changes on my part. Then a few days later, another pound gone. It keeps happening. I've changed nothing. I've now been at 134 for a few days. I've changed nothing. I bought a belt, though, because I sure as heck can't afford to buy yet another whole wardrobe! -
I had an easy surgery and recovery in May (2018). I was a fairly low weight by the time surgery day rolled around (180lbs) so I sailed to goal (150lbs) by mid August, with a couple minor stalls along the way. I readjusted my goal to 140lbs. I hit that a couple weeks later and thought, perhaps I’d like to try out 135lbs. No matter what I do, I cannot get beyond 139lbs. I have been bouncing between 140 and 139 for 4 weeks. It doesn’t matter what I change; activity, calories, sodium, fat, protein, fluid... I dropped another size during the first week of this stall but nothing since. Could this simply be another stall or is this my body saying, “You need to live here, Sweetie.” I’m okay either way. Just a little confused.

Neck/facelift, Anyone?
Screwballski replied to Screwballski's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Now that I'm so far removed from the immediate inconveniences of plastic surgery and sleeplessness, it was entirely worth it! Here's a photo from about 9 weeks out. I'm still healing everywhere but no more bruising or open wounds. And I'm sleeping like a rock! Fifty-four is right around the corner. I weighed in today at 136 pounds and I feel fantastic! I feel like I look my age but, as folks say, do finally look "good for my age". -
I was busy the day our new (now replaced yet again) security system was being installed. When they were assigning usernames my husband “took care of it” for me, as I was busy. Later that week I signed up at this site and went with the username he’d chosen that earlier afternoon...Screwballski. :)

It’s my 2nd Anniversary. We had a Zombie wedding. Last year, the first year after my beautiful bloodied and torn wedding gown, I struggled to decide on a costume. This year I decided to be a bride EVERY darn year from here on out so I can buy a new wedding dress every year! 😁 The 1st photo is me with one of the Grand’s two years ago after wedding. I ballooned up to 209 after that. The 2nd photo is me trying on this year’s gown before it was fitted better.

Of course you will! It’s all about planning, working hard. Every now and then I have a 1/2 slice of pizza or a cookie or part of a burrito. I don’t do it often, I plan my day ahead of time and make sure I get my Protein in and that it won’t mess up my carbs and calories...it’s not an impulsive grab and gobble. Funny thing is, I’m almost always satisfied by just a couple bites of that thing I’ve been thinking about for days! 🙂

My Body IS The Boss of Me!
Screwballski replied to Screwballski's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks. This is a good weight for me. I have super dense bones so I always weigh heavier than I look. I had x-rays on my wrist and elbow done Thursday and the first thing the Doctor said when she came in the room after was, “I don’t know what you’re doing but you have great bones!” (That music to the ears of a 50+ year old woman, trust me!) :) Just thought the extra 4 pounds off would be fun because it would put me back at my on-camera weight when I was in my mid-twenties. I’ll ask my primary about a body analysis. She’s pretty receptive to the whole process. -
Pureed food beginning day 3 post-op?
Screwballski replied to Rexcom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My psychologist is also a Bariatric patient and Bariatric specialist. She attends conferences all over the world. She told me that all of the latest info points to starting patients off on bland purées and soft foods asap. We talked about this well before my May surgery. She advised me to follow my surgeons program but that for the last few years the research has been in place to support this purée/soft food out-of-the-gate method. It just takes surgeons and doctors a long time to let go of old ways. -
Sick and thirsty and regretting
Screwballski replied to smm86's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just hang in there. You are still getting used to things as is your body. Think long game not these short game discomforts. It’s a bit overwhelming right now but things will settle eventually. The hair will likely fall. I’m in the midst of that right now, but it grows back. I’ve lost mine twice before. You learn how unimportant hair is when you consider the larger picture of your health and life. Frustr8, it may feel like you jumped into the fire but this is all new to you and you’ve had a couple hitches in your recovery, thus far. Soon it will just be a blip on your timeline. The vitamin routine will be second nature, your body will settle down and you will be grooving along. -

Please don’t invest too much money/stockpile vitamins, protein, etc., pre-op. You may be surprised by the things your post op stomach may not tolerate. -
How are the May sleevers doing?
Screwballski replied to QueenEB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Absolutely. I take a big drink about 15 mins before I start my meal because I always seem to be thirsty then. My surgeon said wait 10 mins before eating...I wait 15. Then after eating, no fluid until 30 or more mins, per surgeon. It’s second nature now. That’s really how everyone should eat, not just BariatricPal patients. -

They want you to lose more?! You’re 5’9”, right? I think I recall reading that in an earlier post. You look perfect! I can’t imagine where there would be anymore fat hiding on you! I mean, I’m no Doctor, but if you’re happy with yourself, honestly, you look stunning! -
How are the May sleevers doing?
Screwballski replied to QueenEB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I posted in July that I was 3 pounds from goal. It’s October now. I moved my goal from 150lbs to 135lbs because I hit 150 in no time. Then I hit 140...and I’ve been sitting at 139-140 forever. CANNOT BREAK THIS STALL. 😁🤷🏼♀️ Not really all that worried. I feel great. If I hit 135, I’d likely just shoot for 130, anyway, right?1 😄 I wish everyone the happiness and health this tool has brought me. I’m sleeping well. My diabetes is managed with out insulin. I don’t feel deprived, cravings or insatiable hunger. Life is wonderful. -
Should I switch to RNY?
Screwballski replied to sleevegirl88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I’m not invested in either surgery. I only know what’s working well for me. If something changes, my surgeon already has a plan in place. I really had no clue whether I’d wake up to a bypass or sleeve. He told me my long term comfort was going to come first, then my desire for a sleeve would be considered. Regarding the meal: It was fabulous! I was unable to finish either the rib or the meatball. I got full right away! (Because I got greedy and ate one grape first.). I love this sleeve! Also, my lips were on fire after the first bit of the rib. 😄 -
Anyone not need plastic surgery?
Screwballski replied to TexasMommy80's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My neck went full GOBBLE! I’m also almost 54 AND it’s the family look! My heaviest was 260 (8 years ago). I was about 150 when I had my neck lift. At 7 weeks post neck lift I’m down to 139 but my neck seems to be pretty firm still. Thank heavens! The batwing arms and melting inner thighs are just going to have to continue flapping. I can’t even think about the boobs. They are former beautiful DD’s posing as played out, deflated balloons. Oddly, my skin-skirt belly is shrinking really nicely in spite of my old size and my current age. Who’d a thunk?! -
Stunning! 🌟

Should I switch to RNY?
Screwballski replied to sleevegirl88's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was a band to Sleeve revision in May. I had slight GERD, even with my band because it had been faulty for over 12 years. My surgeon wanted to do RNY, I really felt strongly that I wanted a sleeve. In the end, we decided to do the sleeve if it was possible when he saw what was going on inside. I woke up to a sleeve. I couldn’t be happier. I took PPI’S for the first 90 days while stomach healed, like most patients. I’ve been off them now for a couple weeks. Not a single issue. I had a jalapeño meatball and a Buffalo glazed rib at a gourmet taster event Saturday. No Tums required. 👍🏻🙂. Your stomach may be quite different.
