    slightly disappointed

Same here. From the moment they weighed me at consultation, they told me if I gained one ounce that Aetna would see me as non-compliant and toss me. Game over. Since it was a revision, I was told losing weight wouldn’t matter JUST DO NOT GAIN!!! I was so concerned, I tracked every darn thing that went in my mouth. I made sure I never went over 1100 calories a day on my Lose It app. I got 90 grams of protein in every day. By the time surgery came around 3.5 months later, they almost called it off because I’d lost 30 pounds and they were afraid the pre-op 5day would make me ineligible for anything but the band removal portion. I guess the point is, this is not a casual thing. You’re either in and serious about doing what needs to be done or your not. They want to see you do well and follow directions/meet benchmarks on the pre-op side because that indicates that you have the drive and determination to be successful on the other side.

    Stomach Bloated?

I’m with you. It’s just easier to own it! :)

    Stomach Bloated?

It takes a while. I still feel bloated some days at over 2 weeks out. But I can finally suck in my tummy if I want to. Couldn’t do that before today! Also, I’ve def lost inches. I just folded up tons of jeans to put on Mercari. I thought, Maybe they will fit now. Um...too big!!! Yay!
  4. I’m a rule follower. That’s not a problem. 👍. I guess my question was more along the lines of, since it seems most folks who follow the guidelines seem to lose about 8-10 pounds a month, is it reasonable to assume I’ll make my goal in 3-3.5 months?! That seems so mind boggling! Yet, as of today, I’ve already lost over 25% of my extra weight! I’m thrilled.

    Fat kid struggles

I have to wait at least 36 days and then introduce one food 2 ozs at a time. But 2 weeks in, still no real hunger.

    Advice

I’m now 2 weeks out. I came out of surgery completely unable to tolerate dairy in any form. Prior to the sleeve I was very mildly lactose intolerant. Meaning, if I ate ice cream or drank a glass of milk, I’d get gassy, bloated or perhaps have a bowel cleanse (if I ate the whole pint of Ben and Jerry’s). Now, dairy of any sort; yogurt, whey shakes; ricotta, is a NIGHTMARE. Not complaining. It eliminates a whole bunch of bad choices from my old life. But I never would have believed it if it hadn’t happened to me.

    Advice

I have yet to find an unflavored rotein powder that is completely tasteless. Sorry.

    Can you see the difference?

Of course I can see a difference! And I’m not surprised you can’t. Our brains are THE WORST to us! Trust me...it’s happening. You’re making progress!

    Ready set to....

I used my phone, chapstick and pj bottoms for one overnight. I skipped the undies because it was difficult enough getting the pj’s up and down while juggling cords and IV, etc. 😉 Pj pants were very nice to have while walking around the floor. Lots of open doors and looky Lou’s!😮

    Not sure it's working

Joseph’s mom Definitely go get some vegan protein powder! Bone broth protein works well too. I had the same problem!!! I drank whey protein for years. Never had any problems. First shake after surgery... and for the next 9 days, I exploded. The doctors tested me for everything! It wasn’t until someone here said to switch from whey to a plant based protein did the nightmare end. Now I can actually leave the house. Yay!!!!

    Don't pray for me

I would just suck up the positive intentions. If you tell them you are an atheist, they are going to pray for you even harder. You sure can’t have THAT going down. 😉

Little Green... That’s the truth! I’m so thankful someone here suggested eliminating whey. These last two days have been wonderful!!!🙂
  13. I am 13 days post op. I have had diarrhea for 11 days. I am barely getting fluids in and am hitting the protein benchmark of 90 grams half of the days. The rest of the time I get at least 45g in. My struggle is, the moment I get something in, it comes out! I’ve been tested, by my primary doctor, for everything...negative. I see my surgeon tomorrow for the first time...has not spoken to me on phone...office staff says, “Just drink your liquids and get your proteins in.” Surgeon’s office days I can’t take anything to slow down system. Now for numbers: According to my scale, I was 181lbs when I went in for revision from band to sleeve. Came home with fluid weight of 186.5lbs. Have been down to 172lbs I’ve last few post op days. Woke up this morning and weighed 174.5lbs AFTER using the restroom! How am I gaining weight when I can’t hold water, let alone protein or even begin my supplements!!!

    How am I gaining weight?!

Dr. Bagshahi He’s in downtown Ft Worth but did my surgery in Trophy Club. I really liked him and his staff. I’m in North Fort Worth. Are you nearby? I’m on my way to see him in about an hour.

    May 2018 losers bench

13 days post op. Absolutely no surgical or incision pain from the moment I woke up. No pouch pain either. It was fantastic! My only pain was muscular (in my lower /mid back) from surgical positioning. Unfortunately, as soon as I was able to start protein drinks, I began having “intestinal distress”. It took me until yesterday (with the help of this forum) to figure out that whey was causing the problem. Haven’t been hungry. Weighed 180 on the day of Surgery. Weigh 171 today. I needed the revision because my 11 year old Band/port just kinda went psycho! Best wishes to all!

12 days post-op. Depressed and struggling

Some folks react to general anesthesia with depression. Whether or not they suffer from depression in real life, some will come down with it” for several days after surgery. I knew nothing about this until it happened to me and my Doctor explained it to me after surgery a few years ago. It has happened to my mother as well. Perhaps yours is just this. I hope so.

Is there a North Fort Worth Group?

    Is this price outrageous? (NYC!)

I am in Fort Worth, Tx. Top Doctor quoted me $20k to remove 8lbs of loose skin with one overnight. No muscle work required.

    How am I gaining weight?!

I’ve eliminated all whey and only used Pea and Bone Broth Protein powders today. It appears the problem is solved! Why on Earth couldn’t my Surgeon’s office have suggested this days ago? I can’t possibly be the first patient to experience this! I thank everyone for their help!!!
  24. Can you do sugar free popsicles until you hear from Doctor? At least get some fluid in? Or is it too painful/nausea inducing? Crystal light pure (made with truvia or stevia...no aspartame)?

    How am I gaining weight?!

Hi, Matt. I’m using Isopure Zero Carb powders and clear liquids. I’m also using Premier clear liquids. At this point, I’m barely hitting 300 calories a day so a few extra in Pea protein probably won’t hurt. I have no hunger. No flavor except mild fruity water is palatable. Living the dream! 🙂
