  1. I’m smiling because at 2 weeks out I was thinking, “ My belly looks bigger than it did when I went in for surgery!” Now at 4 weeks, the swelling is almost gone. Almost but not quite. You’ll get there. 🙂
  2. Everyone is different. I weigh everyday. Rarely do I skip a day. It has been a routine for ages and keeps me accountable. Some folks can’t handle it. I get that.

    Non Scale Victories

When I went into Walmart to get sugar free Popsicles today, stopped to pick up a few pair of inexpensive athletic shorts for when my currently baggy shorts became too sloppy (probably a couple weeks from now). I grabbed several pair of Size Larges. Tried them on when I got home...in a couple weeks, they’ll be my “too baggy” shorts!!!  They fit perfectly right now!

    1 week post op today

53 here, too. Of course, I’m very, VERY young for my age! 😉 Terrific to hear things are going so well!!!
  5. I wish I had something to add other than I am so, so sorry you are having this horrible discomfort. My very best wishes to you.

    Stitches or Dermabond

I’ve had so many flipping surgeries I look like I was the leader of the baddest Soccer Mom gang in the suburbs!

    Stitches or Dermabond

That sounds awful. So sorry for your experience. Now you know to speak up though. Geesh!

    Lactose intolerance?

Whey protein was a HUGE part of my life prior to surgery for years. St least one meal a day. After surgery, it took me 9 days and the help of this forum to find out that it was the very thing in my diet causing me to have nausea, severe cramping, constant diarrhea, bloating and pain. The moment I cut whey out of my life, everything went back to normal. I can no longer handle dairy since surgery either.

Perspectives on Losing Fast & Slow

Sometimes I hate to comment because I feel like there are folks out there who just want to say, “STFU!” But, I know my road is going to be long. I have relatively little to lose but it feels like a mountain to climb for me. When I read how quickly others are losing, I truly have to remind myself their journey is not mine and many would likely rather be in my shoes. It doesn’t make my journey any easier. That said, I do appreciate everyone here. You are kind and compassionate. And, you understand that three weeks post op, sitting on only 12lbs lost is just as frustrating for me at 168lbs as a 20 pound loss would be for someone who started out substantially higher in weight on sleeve day.
  11. What do you want for breakfast?! Pick a protein. It doesn’t have to be breakfast food. Any protein you’d put anywhere can be breakfast. 🙂

    Still sick

I purchased a Baeba babyfood maker that steams and purées in same container. I’m n the puréed phase but can see using it well beyond for soups. Perhaps something like this would make you life a little more convenient.

    Pain killer alternatives

I’m a CBD oil distributor. It’s easily digestible, great for anxiety and relaxation, which is half of the pain battle. It is also helpful for pain. Doctors are indoctrinated NOT to like it because they don’t understand it. If you’d like info I’m happy to provide my site info. My email in karenatcbdbiocaredotcom. It’s legal everywhere as it is and agricultural product and contains no thc.

  15. Crystal light Pure uses stevia if you need a break from water. I’m experiencing some of the same problems.

    Post op walking

I got up the second they gave me the okay. Did two laps around the floor. No discomfort at all. The next walk (every two hours after) I did three laps, independently. They helped unhook me and sent me on my way. Honestly, it was that painless. I wish the very same for you!

The “skin skirt” struggles are real!
  18. Thanks, LELH. That’s what I was asking and what I kinda assumed. Just going to keep chugging along.

    Suntan & Pool

I started indoor tanning right away but threw a towel over my belly until my incisions were healed. At two weeks, Doc said to wait one more for swimming so I haven’t sunbathed outdoors yet.

    Advice

I’m actually happy my body completely rejects milk now because knowing about the free B&J benefit might cause my to move there, get a job at the factory and try to fulfill my protein requirements with Cherry Garcia!!

    I miss straws!

On the bright side, it cuts down on the wrinkles around the mouth that frequent straw users get (same as Smoker’s wrinkles). So there’s that. 👍

    I miss straws!

I am afraid of ice touching my face when I drink. For real. This “no straw” thing is my personal hell! 🙄🤷‍♀️

    skipped purée stage

Mine had me on liquids for 14. I started purée a couple days ago and will be on it for 20 days (very limited selection of items allowed). I can then begin introducing normal foods back into my life very slowly. If this is what my team feels is best, I’m all in! I use a Babyfood maker to make my puréed foods so they are healthier than store bought baby foods.
  25. Remember, they may have given you steroids like they did me, they filled you with fluids, and your body is healing. Don’t sweat it. If you are active, following your program and tracking, it will come off! Best wishes!
