    On to Purees, suggestions?

Baby food from the store has so few nutrients. You’re really better off puréeing your own food. It has so much more flavor. It’s much better for you, as well. I purchased a baby food steamer/puréer and only wound up using it for one week. (I had to travel immediately so I made myself chew chicken, etc., to purée consistency and never went backward from there!). If your budget a;lows for a purchase like that, it’s worth it! If it doesn’t...I bought mine used...you can feed small chunks of steamed food into an inexpensive small food processor.
  4. Before you order a bunch...they sell them individually at convenience stores here in TX. Most QT’s and 7/11’s. If they have them in your area, you might want to try the flavors before you buy a lot.
  5. You can get powdered vitamins at gettespo.com You just mix with 1.5 oz of water (if they deliver internationally). They make bariatric formulas.

    These stalls are no joke!

I seem to drop a size during a long stall. The scale doesn’t reflect it but my body keeps shrinking. I no longer hate the stalls. I look at it as my body’s rearrangement time. I don’t know where the junk it going but my body always looks better after a stall!!!!

    Help please

Oh, stay on plant based until your body can handle whey again. I’m still very sensitive and my surgery was in May! Every now and then I sneak a whey protein bar in and my body gets bloated but I can keep it in. 😁

    Help please

I’ll give you my “go to” suggestion. If you are drinking whey protein shakes/drinks, stop. Try using plant based shakes only for a day or do. See if this clears it up. I switched to Pea based on day 9 or 10 of diarrhea and it immediately solved the problem! This advice was given to me by someone here after my surgeon and primary tested me for everything and couldn’t stop it! It has helped others. Start here. If it doesn’t help, I’m out of info. ;)
  11. Order soup or something soft and just say you’re not very hungry. It’s simple.

Best way to introduce eggs into the diet

I scrambled one soft at 3 weeks. Ate it. Was full for several hours. End of story. 😄

    Grieving for clothes?!

I feel like we ought to have a swap site for Bariatric patients. I sell on poshmark but I’d almost rather swap larger sizes for the smaller sizes I need. Half my stuff still has tags because I skip sizes (or they’ve been worn once). 😄

    Pre-op diet starts tomorrow!

My experience was fantastic. My post surgery pain was only due to a previous back injury and the way I was positioned during surgery. Had I thought to mention it prior, I would not have had any pain at all. No other surgery related pain. I was up and walking immediately, doing as many laps as they’d allow. Mine was a band to sleeve revision. My BMI was 30 on the day of surgery so I know things may have been a bit easier for me. Post op was a breeze. Just over two months out, I’m eating just about anything but I follow the protein first route (and never get beyond that because I’m full immediately)! I take Juice Plus capsules, my supplements and my primary says I’m fit as can be! I know you’re nervous. It’s natural. But this is a wonderful experience. Take it as it comes and don’t worry about what hasn’t yet happened and “scary stories” you’ve heard. Enjoy every day as it comes. You are doing something amazing for yourself!
  17. I think you’re looking for me! 😀 I had my lap band revision in May. My BMI was 30. No one understood why, if I could lose 30-40 pounds in a couple of months anytime I wanted to, I’d ever need to have a sleeve after I got my broken band removed. I didn’t bother explaining it was because it was terrified my life would continue to be me losing 30 pounds, gaining 40, losing 50, gaining 55, losing...gaining...you know the drill. My band was bad for over a decade so the gaining/losing game was all me. The wear and tear...it was enough. If you are young and you think this is for you, do it while your BMI is low and your skin can bounce back. I’m 53 and my skin has had it with me. I was once over a hundred pounds heavier than I am now and it shows on my inner thighs and on my arms. If you’re not so young and it’s what your heart wants...go for it. The heck with everything else! I was treated wonderfully. The surgery was simple for me. No pain. I was right on my feet. I didn’t require help for much. They treated me like gold and one of the overnight staff cut a star out of gold felt and taped it to my gown for being so laid back and independent on a night when 1/3 of staff called out of work! (So I sure wasn’t discriminated against because of my smaller size!) You can ask me anything along you surgery path. I’m an open book. 🙂😉

    Pre-op diet starts tomorrow!

Hi! I’m in N. Fort Worth. Alliance Corridor. If you drink enough protein and water and keep busy, you really won’t be that hungry. You’ll THINK YOU ARE because you miss food, but you really will be fine. Just keep drinking and stay busy. I had my surgery in mid-May. Different bariatric group.

    Stigma with WLS

Best thing about being over 40 (in my case, 50)? Giving zero f@cks what others think about my decisions. 😀

How are the May sleevers doing?

Spectacular! I’m so happy for you. I know how wonderful it feels.

How have your smells and tastes changed?

Everything has too much flavor! 😀 Especially beverages...I water down everything.

    Not Protein Driven

I modified my Protein goal (post-op) at about two weeks out to 60-70g. I had to switch to plant based protein immediately after surgery and could barely get 60 in let alone 80-100. I also found I felt far healthier at that level than (even pre-op) when I was always stuffed at 80-100g’s. The rules are important but sometimes our bodies are pretty good at guiding us, too.

    Starbucks drinks

I gave up anything carbonated, alcohol, sweetened begs and any sweetener that wasn’t natural years ago. Coffee was my last real THING! 😜 :). Argh!
  24. Screwballski

    Starbucks drinks

Seems like you and everyone else! :) I don’t drink or smoke. All I had was coffee. Giving up that last half cup a day actually made me want to cry. It was something my husb and I did together every morning. I’m def rethinking this rule!

    Starbucks drinks

I mean no disrespect...I ask solely out of confusion... My surgeon and nutritionist stressed that coffee (regular and decaf) would be off the table for me forever if I wanted to take the best care of my sleeve. Not because of caffeine but because the acid in coffee is corrosive and if something were to go wrong, there’s not enough stomach to work with. They started weaning me off my three mugs a day weeks before surgery so I wouldn’t have headaches after surgery.Did no one else get this info/scare?
