Quick recap- I had the sleeve on 2/5/2014 and had tons of complications. I was in the hospital a lot, I had a PICC line and then a feeding tube. It was a rough 6 months. My stomach basically didn’t tolerate food or drink, so there was a lot of puking. Fast forward to needing a revision to bypass on 6/26/2018 due to severe reflux and damage. The surgery went great, I healed well, no nausea. I was rocking it. I am doing great on full liquids but am failing miserably on soft foods. I don’t know if it’s psychological or what. I can do one cheese stick a day if I chew very well. I am okay with yogurt, just small amounts. I get sick on refried beans, cottage cheese, eggs, etc. I just keep going back to full liquids. Anyone else? Any advice?

Thank you! My doctor has me back on full liquids for two more weeks. He then wants me to do one teaspoon of food when I try again, since my pouch is smaller due to it being a revision. If that doesn’t work, I will have an endoscopy and he will use the balloon to open up the pathway a bit.

I am getting over 80 grams of protein and close to 80 oz of fluids. I do two shakes a day, a Premier protein water, and then Propel. I have no concerns about nutrition or dehydration. I think because I had the sleeve in 2014, I am just used to the fake sweet flavor and sometimes odd consistency of protein water. I see my surgeon Friday morning and will also talk to the nutritionist. It is a great office, and are quick to get back with me. My surgeon is still nervous about me, because of how many complications I had in 2014, so he checks in with me frequently and is on top of any concern I have. I also don’t like the smell of tuna or canned fish. I do have shrimp but I’m worried they would be harder to get down since they are a little tougher and bigger. I will just keep trying things, going slow, taking one bite, and using the nausea meds as needed.

Thank you, I will. I emailed my nut and I have an appointment with my surgeon next week. I have his cell phone number, but I feel this can wait. I am easily getting in 80 grams of protein by shakes/protein water and am very hydrated.

Did your marriage or relationship die after you lost the weight?

There is someone, I fully believe this! You just need to take some time to find yourself and learn some self love. Sorry if I get too social worky lol!! -
I’m getting a bypass despite the fact I have a sleeve done

I am so sorry to hear this!! I had a PICC line after my sleeve in 2014, and many hospital stays. I did a little time in ICU and then went to a university hospital for a few weeks. I ended up with a feeding tube for a bit. It was a rough 6 months, but I came out healthier in the end. Keep us posted!! -
I had VSG on 2/5/2014 and did well. I thought my reflux was controlled well with meds. I was starting to have some reflux symptoms even with meds. I had an endoscopy and it showed damage. The meds weren’t working. I revised to RNY on 6/26/2018 and it went well. I had a smooth recovery and am feeling good! It was way less scary than I imagined.

Did your marriage or relationship die after you lost the weight?
Kimber628 replied to George OG's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It sounds like so much is going on. It’s not just your weight loss, but her badmouthing you to your child and telling you you’re not attractive. To top it off, she is hurting you financially. That just sounds wrong. You look very nice and I am so sorry you are dealing with this. No matter how bad things are, I know it’s still hard to deal with the loss of your marriage. Take time to process and take care of yourself. ((Hugs)) -
How do you know if your full
Kimber628 replied to Boujee_Susie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel a pressure in my upper chest when I’m full. My family’s joke is that I’ve had “one bite too many” as I frequently get the hiccups after eating. -
Yay, so glad it will all work out!!

I’m getting a bypass despite the fact I have a sleeve done

I had the sleeve in 2014, and my reflux was under control with meds. It started to get worse so they did an endoscopy and found damage. I had bypass on 6/26/2018, so I am pretty fresh lol. I think because most shakes are so sweet, I don’t crave sweets. I can’t wait for puréed foods to get a little savory in. I have had some protein soups without chunks, and they have been divine! -
ER trip to rule out blood clot
Kimber628 replied to Born in Missouri's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Always be safe, you did the right thing!! I have had two types of blood clots, PE and DVT and it is nothing to mess around with. While I am fine now, there are lifelong changes such as no hormones ever. I had to go off birth control, I can’t have hormone replacement for menopause, etc. I am so glad you are ok! -
My sweet Frankie, trying to mother a kitten we grabbed after someone threw her out a window on the highway. Frankie’s mission in life is to love, and she’s amazing at it.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
Kimber628 replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a little over 2.5 weeks out and I feel amazing. That infection was my worst part, but I barely even feel sore. I can’t get in water for a month, so I am bored. It’s a hot and humid summer in Michigan and my parents just bought a house on a lake lol. They just jump in when it gets too hot and I get to still be hot. I am going to go back to work early, as I am a little stir crazy. -
It’s one of those things that happens to most people. My hair was so thin and I hated it. I was so excited when it started growing back. Yep, you will have weird wisps and it will look like you’re growing bangs, but keep working with your stylist. It comes back! I had the sleeve in 2014, and the hair loss was bad, as I was quite sick. I just converted to bypass on 6/26, and I am just mentally preparing myself to deal with it again! We are all in this together, baby fine hair and all lol!

What is the weirdest thing you have experienced POST OP?
Kimber628 replied to eso0402's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the sleeve in 2014, so I am already used to being cold a lot. After my conversation to bypass on 6/26, I was so hot from anesthesia and pain meds. I would wake up just soaked in sweat. It was gross and weird lol. -
This didn't work for me
Kimber628 replied to Sleeved in DFW :-)'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rantadine is Zantac, so it can be used in conjunction with a PPI if need be. I had to take it twice a day with my Prilosec, before I converted to bypass.
