  1. Has anybody had a problem with their cholesteral (specifically LDL) being out of whack? I went to the doctor a few days ago and my bad cholesteral was so high she almost wanted to put me on medicine. Then she did some research and found out that that can sometimes happen when carbs are drastically taken out of one's diet. We are hoping it will level off and then start going down after a while. I'm scheduled to have it checked again in four months but she wanted me to check to see if this had been a problem with anybody else that has had this surgery. Pam

    Banana pain

I had written before that I was experiencing severe stomach pains. That whole week I had started eating a low fat yogurt and 1/2 a banana for breakfast. A friend suggested that I stop eating the banana. MIRACLE! The pains stopped the next day. I had never had problems with bananas before, and don't know what caused the reaction this time, but my pain is gone. Has anybody else come across this situaltion with bananas or any other food?
  3. For the last few days I have been experiencing severe stomach pains, not just in one place, but all over. At first I thought it might be related to that "special" time of month, but it doesn't seem to want to go away. Then I thought I might have over done it with the eating so I cut way back. Still severe pains. I was told before my Lap-Band surgery that I had a big stone in my gall bladder and that it would eventuall need to come out. So I don't know if my band or my gall bladder is giving me grief. I still have pretty good restriction and ma not throing anything up. Has anybody else experienced this kind of situation. I could really use some advice. Pam
  4. I am currently filled to 7cc in a 14cc band. I went to a support group meeting a couple of weeks ago and asked how do you know if you are ready for another fill or if you have stretched your "new" stomach. The nurse proceeded to tell me how NOT to make that happen, but never clarified how you can tell. I had a fill about a month ago and did pretty good for a while. But the last couple of weeks I've pretty much been able to eat anything I want. I'm scared that I have stretched out my pouch. I go for another fill this Wednesday, hopefully that will put me back on the right track. I'm so affraid of sliding backwards and doing all of this for nothing. Can anybody relate? Pam
  5. Has anyone had a problem with acid and spicy food irritating their stomach to the point to where it affected your band? I had to go to the doctor yesterday and have 1cc of Fluid let out because it was too tight and I couldn't even keep liquids down. the doctor seems to think that something could have irritated it. I eat a LOT of tomatoes and salsa. It's good and easy to go down. Do you think that could be a problem for me? Oh God, I hope not! Pam
  6. Ok, I am getting very frustrated. I have had five fills. I'm at 7.5cc's out of 14. Some days I am able to eat small amounts with no problems, but then there's days like today when I can't keep anything down. Do I need to have some taken out of my band? i don't want to get too loose, but I hate these days when I'm miserable to even drink anything. My biggest concern is that I threw up a couple of times today. i don't want to take the chance on my band slipping if this keeps up. Has anyone else come across this problem? Pam

    Nearing a Major Goal!!!!!!

OMG! What an awesome achievement. You should be so proud of yourself. I'll be waiting to hear that outburst of joy when you meet your final goal.
  8. Banded April 7, 2008 - not vomited yet.
  9. I was banded on 4/07/08. I had my 4th fill one week ago. I'm finally getting really good restriction. My question is, why is it that soft foods go down harder than hard foods? Things like, scrambled eggs, yogurt, and some thick liquids seem to go down and want to get stuck. Other things like chips/salsa, dry cereal, and tacos seem to go down fine. What's up with that? :confused2:
  10. I had my 3rd fill about three weeks ago and finally began to feel some restriction. Then I went for my 4th fill a couple fo days ago and am having a lot of different pains when I eat. Is it normal to have pain in your shoulder while you're eating? I'm taking as small of bites as I can and it seems it still had trouble going down. Is this just new to the recent fill I had and will dwindle as time goes by, or should I expect this EVERY time?

    Tickers

Ok, I've tried several times to set up my ticker and have never come across anything that says "generate code"
  12. I had lap band surgery 2 1/2 weeks ago. When I came out of surgery they told me the doctor had to repair hiatal hernia before he did the lap band. I guess it's not that big of deal. they told me it would have no affect on my healing process. I suggest talking to your doctor since you know about it ahead of time. Good luck! Pam

    back to work...have a question

I had surgery a little over two weeks ago and had the same feeling in my left side. I called the doctor and he said it might be the colon acting up if your not having regular bowel movements. Make sure to take in lots of fluids (especially water). if it continues though, i would recommend contacting your doctor. Good luck!
