I began looking into weight loss surgery after I hit my all-time high of 284. I knew I had to do something about my weight and do it fast. I had VSG on Nov 22, 2017. I had no complications. I was up walking within hours of surgery. I came home on Thanksgiving day, sat at the table and watched everyone else eat. I wasn't upset in any way. I was just super excited to be started on this journey!
Fast forward 2 years to today, Jan 2, 2020. I am currently at 170 pounds, up 9 pounds from my lowest weight. I was 1 pound from goal, but started getting sloppy with my eating (too many McDonald's trips, snacks, etc). I am now trying to get back down to 160, but then i want to keep going. Although 160 was my original goal, I now feel that it is too close to me becoming who I used to be, so I am now thinking about getting down to 145. I have never been small, so that isn't my goal. I want to be healthy and happy in my skin.
I do have excess skin... but I figure I would be dealing with it even if I was still big (it would just be inflated...), so I'll accept it as a part of who I am. The smaller I get, the less I notice it. My husband is okay with it. He tells me I'm beautiful all the time, so it's not an issue for him either.
I am so happy I made the decision for VSG! It has changed me in many positive ways. I am more open and friendly now. I have always been quiet, and I still am, but I feel like I am a better version of myself.
