Restriction right after surgery
Yolandra Monik Thrash replied to pjd3253's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The restriction was because you were swollen after surgery and now the swelling has subsided. You want feel any restriction until you get a fill. It may take several fills before you feel you're where you need to be. My surgery was March 20th (started with 3cc) and I've had 5 fills. The first four, the doc put 1cc and last week he put .5 cc. I can really feel the restrictions now because I lost 3 pounds last week. It may take you you several fills, also. -
2nd fill and really confused
Yolandra Monik Thrash replied to Kellyyaks's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Be happy that your doc left town. He is supposed to make sure you understand and know everything about your fills and how much he is putting in. It doesn't sound right that he would put in 5cc at one time. Try not to worry and start fresh with you new doc. They should extract the saline before they do a fill so they can let you know how much fluid you had before they add any more. -
That is wonderful! I've lost 21 pounds and I have noticed a big difference in my body (and the fact that I'm a size smaller) and I feel sexy, too. Keep up the good work!

Give it two weeks and see what happens. I've had two fills since my lapband surgery on 3/20/08 and I don't feel restricted either. I had my first fill at the end of April (1cc) and went back on May 2nd for another 1cc. After a few days, I felt like I could eat anything. I have another appt on Thursday and I'll see what the doc says. I have a 10 cc band and currently have 5cc's.

new to this any sugestions
Yolandra Monik Thrash replied to beautifult's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I suggest you be honest and tell the truth to anyone who ask, including your kids. My husband pastor's a church and I told three members about it and word spread really fast. I have gotten a lot of positive feedback and now there are several members considering lapband. I know people who have lied and told others they started excercising and eating right. I don't see the point of lying because you have to remember what you said. So be honest. -
Should I try to gain a few?
Yolandra Monik Thrash replied to kaytiebugs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know this sounds crazy, but I did it because my BMI was 38.7 and not quite 40 and I didn't have any major medical problems. I got on the scale with my purse and I had a couple of hardback novels in it. I also had on my leather jacket and two sweatshirts. It took my BMI to 40. My co-worker put rocks in her pockets..LOL -
I was banded on March 20, 2008 by Dr. Castro in Dallas, TX at Methodist Health System. I am also an employee of Methodist, so I didn't have to go through the six month supervised weightloss program beore the procedure. As of today, I have lost approximately 15 pounds. I have an appointment on Thursday for my first fill and I am excited because my 40th birthday is May 4th and my theme is "Forty and Fabulous!" I hope to lose an additional 10lbs before my b/day. Dr. Castro is wonderful and also his practice is considered "a center of excellence" by the Medical Association. I love it and would do it again.
