I think using the band to help us become healthier, and more active, would not be displeasing in God's sight. It will help us to serve him in other ways(we can get out and spread his word more)And if our body is considered a temple welllllll guess we need it to be the best it can be.Just my 2cents.Stay prayerful and God will give you your answers.

Do you find its physically easier to eat garbage?
Valentinebaby replied to roxy123's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
For me it wasn't at first.BUT now the *** junk foods that helped make me F.A.T.** seem easier at most times to eat than the proteins. Before I could eat eggs, chicken etc now I have a hard time eating them without the golf ball feeling. So I am eating baked fish alot. And I try not to go anywhere near candy or chips. -
I just purchased some protein supplements from a company Smartforme.com.They have soups, puddings, cappuccino, hot chocolate, oatmeal, crunchy snacks and fruity drink mixes, and even a spaghetti mix.Everything mixes with water and appears that nothing is over 170 cal. per serving. So far I have tried the orange drink (taste like crystal light sunrise or sf tang)and wildberry passion drink mix. Both are pretty good especially when mixed with very very cold water.Another perk you get 15% off purchases this month.they also have a sample pack for newly banded people as well as us older bandsters.Sorry for those who can't take soy alot of the stuff has soy.Hope this gives someone an alternative to the shake shake shakes

I have not thought about that factor!

I just wanna say thank you to all of the people in the group for all the support.I'm also a slow loser. I think some of us are losing slower than we like because of alot of different factors.(not doing anything physical, eating wrong foods, eating to much too often, age related issues, medicines etc)Yet we haven't given up the challenge to become healthier. I had to be honest with myself and admit I was not following band rules the way I should so thus no weight loss.Once I admitted this fact and started to do the right things I am still losing so much slooooooower than my friend who follows no rules.I was depressed until I realized thru reading post that I am not alone in feelings of depression, jealously, and doubts about decision especially when the hair loss started.BUT thanks to you all I am hanging in there still trying to win the war even if I lose a few battles. So I say ""TURTLE POWER ROCKS"" lol we are all gonna win against the evil of over eating and being unhealthy.

KFC Cole Slaw/GREAT Recipe
Valentinebaby replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi Laurend, Can you post the recipe for the vinegar slaw I love tangy foods as well as spicey foods.LOL heck I gotta be honest I love food, just eating less of it and making healthier choices. -
I was also addicted to bread visions of my homemade rolls drenched in butter frequently invade my dreams.BUT after trying to eat them once, twice, and a third time! The after effects ARE NOT I repeat are not worth the moment of satisfaction.I will have a couple of the mini bagel chips when I have that bread craving and so far that is working for me.I no longer can eat rice but I can eat a little pasta if I have alot of meat sauce and cut into really small pieces.

OMG!!!!!!!(*G=Goodness) People people what in the world is going on in here?I was under the impression that this site was about bonding and support for a group/family of people with the common goal to get healthy.I am all for debates and people expressing opinions and feelings, but it seems like people are taking things a bit tooooo personal.Listen we are all adults {most times :myscared: } How/who/what ever you choose to worship is you personal choice isn't that why we as a culture of people are /have fought in wars so that people can have that right? Lets get back to being family n here and supportive of each of us being different yet still the same.

Good morning all. I am almost at my 1 yr mark for being banded,I have lost umm about 40 pounds.I need help with getting enough protein per day.I am very restricted in mornings and have a hard time with the shakes even, since they are cold (get up at 5am) I was able to eat chicken and tuna before but no matter how I cook it except in soup:phanvan it causes me to feel uncomfortable or I vomit now.I am starting to feel like I am losing the battle against weight gain .I will appreciate any ideas to help me get on track again with the right foods.Oh yeah I haven't eaten red meat in over 10 yrs,but I will if it is a way for me to get enough protein. I have been eating cheeses, yogurt, a little peanut butter, beans, some lunch meats, fish and shell fish but kinda tired of eating same things over and over.(I also have high blood pressure so I watch sodium content of foods, because since banding it has been lower:biggrin1: Thanks in advance for all your help

Thanks alot for all the info. I got the New Whey liquid protein with 25g protein 0carbs 0fat,I got the fruit punch placed in freezer to get cold quickly(I was soooo excited) It's pretty good reminds me of liquid jello. For breakfast I had warm coffee with vanilla protein mixed in(not too bad)it went down okay,I just had the fruit punch again. So my total protein as of 11:30 am is 49g Oh yeah can I buy the Micellar Milk anywhere.

What kind of Vegetables do you eat???
Valentinebaby replied to Gaychris72's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I make a small salad with romaine lettuce, boiled egg whites, chicken ,mandarin oranges, and chopped walnuts and raspberry or basalmic vinegarette dressing.I shredd the lettuce and than chop everything together really small. I also steam brussel sprouts let them cool chop add a splash of basalmic vinegar and Mrs.Dash.(Yummy)And last but not least I make a soup with alot of skinless chicken thighs, and frozen mixed veggies and frozen french cut green beans, can crushed tomatoes, seasoning of your choice. -

Speaking for those of us with asthma etc,I am all for the smoke free laws.I know it's hard for you smokers and I guess you all feel like your personal rights are being violated ... but I am sure your lungs and non -smoking freinds/family members are jumping for joy I love being able to go out to the bars, clubs etc to dance & party without smelling like smoke or having to leave because the stench was making me sick' BUT.....I did hear that some smokers are forming private clubs so that they can puff puff puff as they drink etc

melted cheese! What can I do with it!
Valentinebaby replied to sunsett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
cheese Crisps and Mock "Goldfish" Crackers Recipe courtesy George Stella Recipe Summary Difficulty: Easy Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 7 minutes Yield: 4 servings User Rating: Try these cheese crisps as a great dip for low-carb salsa, and enjoy the Mock "Goldfish" Crackers as an anytime snack, great for the grab and go! 2 slices American cheese (not "cheese food") 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon chili powder 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder 2 ounces deli-sliced Colby-Jack cheese Low-carb salsa, as needed Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Stack the slices of American cheese and cut it into 16 small squares. Separate the pieces, and transfer them to a small bowl. Add the salt, chili powder, and garlic powder toss to combine. Arrange the 32 cheese pieces in 4 rows of 8, on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet, leaving as much space in between each as possible. Stack the Colby-Jack slices and cut them into about 24 small pieces. Arrange them on another parchment paper-lined baking sheet in 4 rows of 6—without any seasonings. Bake both until well-browned and crispy, about 7 and 7 1/2 minutes. If undercooked, they'll be soggy, so don't be afraid to check them and put them back in for more time, if needed. Cool the crisps and crackers completely before serving—as they cool, they'll crisp up. Store on the counter in an airtight container for a few days.
