Where are all the 50 something bypass patients?
chattycat replied to choosehope's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I know this is an old post but this so applies to me right now being less then a week away from surgery. I feel all these things you wrote about. I wonder how you are doing 3 years later? I’m so glad this thread was revived! -

I’m going to turn 61 weeks after my surgery. How has it been for you? -
Hoping when you get your surgery things will start getting better! 😊
-
Oh I hear you on the NSAIDS too, another thing I’m worried about! I am both excited and nervous 😬 but I think that is pretty normal. You said mid September is that your surgery or have you had it yet?
-
I’m still pre op, another week until surgery but I know once menopause hit, losing weight was just so much harder so I’m anticipating the same post op?
-
Did anyone else’s doctor tell them a pre-op diet is not necessary?

Mine required a 2 week 1200 Calorie Diet, and fast after midnight before the surgery, said they find that adequate. I was happy to eat real food as I know I won’t have it for awhile post op. -

That is good to hear! Keep up the good work! 👏 -
I think over a certain age we have different challenges with WLS then the youngsters! I think slower weight loss and health concerns are a couple. Just because we’re older doesn’t mean we’re old! Us boomers rock! 😎

Do these have calcium as well? I looked them up but didn’t see calcium? From what I have been told we have to separate iron and calcium.......Did your nutritionist ok these.....I love the one pill idea! -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion

July 5 th for me, just started pre op diet. -
Hello all, I have a 4 hr drive to the hospital where I will be having my surgery. My surgeon likes his patients to stay in the area at least a week post op in case of complications. Although I do think it’s a good idea, I would really rather be in my own home/bed while recouping. Hotels are on summer rates and will be really expensive to stay there......anyone else have to travel?
-
Hope you get your July date!
-
Thank you all for your advice! We do have good hospitals here at home but none that deal with bariatric patients so they might not be as familiar with any complications that arise?
-
Thank you for responding! Good to know, I think I might do the same.......
-
I will be 61 in July ! Better late then never!
-
Fingers crossed you get your July date! Sorry read that wrong, you do have a date in July! Yay
