chattycat replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry your having a hard time😞 hang in there, hope you get some answers soon and things will turn around for you! Keep us posted. 🙏 -
Hello all I am 5 weeks out from RNY and have started getting nauseous from my Protein Supplements. I am using Premier Protein shakes and Isopure unflavoured powder and another type of powder that is juice flavoured. I was tolerating them in the beginning but they are not sitting well anymore. Anyone else have luck solving this problem?

Newbie with a couple questions
chattycat replied to JustMeInCleveland's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m the opposite, my stomach has not growled since RNY but use to post op when I was hungry. I seem to have different hunger signals now. I just get kind of an empty feeling or feel a bit nauseated when I need to eat. I’m 3 months out. -
I’m almost 3 months out and have no problems with bread.

Try mixing it with a bit if liquid first and mix until smooth then add it. Just don’t use hot liquid because it will clump. 😊 -
How old were you when?

After a lifetime of yo-yo dieting I finally had RNY in July just before my 61st birthday. Mostly I was worried about my future health and just fed up with weight loss failure. I wish I could have been successful without surgery but finally realized I couldn’t do it on my own so hoping the surgery will help me kick this for good! Down almost 30 lbs since surgery! 🤞 -
What is your rate of weight loss???
chattycat replied to mav2126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me to expect 8-10lbs a month. -
I love the idea of the patches! Swallowing pills can be hard for some people, Drs seem to be really divided on them, glad to follow someone using them! Keep us posted Matt Z!

This just makes so much sense to me! I wish my Dr shared this vision. Mine wants me to be up to 45 minutes a day of cardio by the time I see him 3 months post op.......but I’m finding that I really don’t have the energy! -

I was told only chewable for the first 3 months. I’m worried once I start pills if they will make me sick as they have in the past? Take them with food and see if that helps? I have been using the PatchMD and I love them but some Drs don’t think they work? so will see at my 3 month blood work....... -
You don’t have to track the free foods, I was told that was part of making the program easier for people but I did anyways just for my own reference. But that might have changed since January as they might be tweaking the program?
-
I have done the Freestyle program. I started it pre op and tracked my food so by the time I got my appointment with the nutritionist and she looked at my food journal she said I have nothing to tweak just keep doing what your doing. It is very similar to how they want you to eat. You do still have to track with Freestyle but there are lots of foods that are free so you don’t have to track them. I felt it got me off to a great start.

Thank you for the ideas, no fun feeling sick all day! 🤢

I had very good luck with purée stage. I did devilled egg, chicken salad with low fat mayo or Greek yogurt, scrambled eggs with a bit of ricotta cheese mixed in, kept them nice and smooth. Soda crackers and Melba toast also no problem. But getting a bit cocky I was cutting up a Costco rotisserie chicken for hubby and was taking small bits and chewing well when all of a sudden It got stuck! It was very uncomfortable for about 15 minutes and kept wanting to come up but it finally passed 😩

I was told no whole fruits for 3 months! Only cooked or canned fruits even if blended. -
One month for me too! How are you making out?

I’m in week 4 now and energy levels are much better! Hang in there 😊

I’m in the same boat. I use to read posts of people stressing out about stalling at 3 wks and thought I am going to expect that and not let it bother me. But here I am 4 wks post op and stalled for a week, the reality is that its really the only thing keeping you going during those first few weeks when your food choices are so limited so it is hard not to see that scale move! 😠 -
Hello all. Was thinking about getting a Vitamix hoping it will be useful for post op diet. Anybody have one and if so are you getting your moneys worth from it? Thank you!
-
Yay! I’m glad you finally got your date! Good luck to you!
-
Yes it does! I am also finding that my small ninja processor is doing the job like you said because of such small amounts. But I think the Vitamix will come in handy down the road! Thanks for the input!

Mine was July 5 and I’ve lost about 15 lbs, so close to you. It would have taken me 3 months to lose that pre op so I’m happy 😃. Everyone is different and it’s not a race, just stay the course.
