Do any of the bypass folks with they'd gone with a sleeve?
Little Kansas Kitty replied to SarcasticGastric's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm with @Missouri-Lee's Summit and as a self pay patient could pick out whichever surgery I wanted. I chose RNY Gastric Bypass because it was the "gold standard" and seemed to be the most effective in terms of high percentage of weight loss and stats of maintaining. As a binge eater, I wanted as much restriction as possible. Also, I liked the idea of a possible "reversal" and not completely removing my stomach in the event of any severe complications down the road. I have no regrets. -

Congrats on your upcoming surgery! I purchased my initial haul at a ton of different places as I wanted to make sure I got the best price and so I took advantage of several site's "first order promotions" https://www.vitacost.com/ https://www.barimelts.com/ https://www.bariatricchoice.com https://www.amazon.com/ -

WOW! You and @Hal711 are killing it! Weight is flying off. I've read that after a stall another big loss is coming. -

This is truly my very favorite thing about losing weight. Getting ready in the morning! Suddenly there are many more options. Yay for dresses to work in the summer! Before surgery I was seriously rotating out of 3 pants week after week and just praying the thighs wouldn't rub holes into them. LOL -

Do you have some anti-nausea meds you can take? CONGRATS on the 25 lbs.! So awesome. I'm really forcing myself to eat. I feel like I'm eating and drinking all day long because it takes so long to finish a meal and then after an hour passes I have to quickly catch up on fluids. Then I drink for about an hour and begin eating again. -

You go girl! That is a ton of weight lost already. WAHOO! Love that folks are noticing. I wore some smaller clothes today and my coworker was like "Oh, did you go shopping?" I was like "no, just some older clothes". LOL - - no one has noticed the loss yet, but give me 15 more pounds and I'll have way more old clothes options. -

I understand the feeling, @ALFxRNY! It was really affecting me mentally too. Can you E-Mail your office and explain your concern and just see what they say? I think what helped me was adding calories. I'm eating way more these days than last week. I've probably doubled my intake. -

Wahoo! Finally, broke my 3 week stall after 8 days of no weight loss! I'm down 25 lbs. now (including pre-op diet). YAY! How's everyone feeling? -

I'm sorry you're still having "after" effects. This sounds so extreme. I'm just trying canned chicken tonight and did ok with canned tuna yesterday. You're kind. I do hope you feel better soon. -
How long was you in the hospital after gastric bypass?
Little Kansas Kitty replied to GettingHealthyForMyKidsAndMyself's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I had my surgery on Monday, June 25th at 11:20 A.M. and by choice stayed 3 nights. I loved the pampering and amazing nurses and knew my kids were in great shape with grandparents. Once I was at home, I knew it would be all me taking care of me so I loved the extra stay at the hospital to hydrate with fluid bags and heal. -
Ab muscle spasms week after RNY?
Little Kansas Kitty replied to LindyPablo's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm 3 weeks out and my left "biggest" incision is the only one I still feel. I had those weird spasms at the beginning. Brace yourself when you laugh, poop, sneeze or cough. It does get better but I hear it can take 4 or 5 weeks. I'm hoping I'm near the end because it's annoying to not be able to pick up stuff off the floor. My house turned into a tornado disaster site as I wasn't picking up much after my daughter and her cousins and friends. I paid her extra allowance to pick everything up this weekend. It's just too hard. We'll get there and we'll be feeling ourselves again. Just keep on resting and taking it easy. -

This sounds awful. Have you tried chicken before? I feel like I've read several people have trouble with chicken at the beginning. I'm supposed to try some tonight for the first time and am scared. I'm so sorry for your icky experience. Hope you're feeling better now? -

@ALFxRNY - You're doing everything you need to be. I keep telling myself that too. All we can do is be patient. I bet the walks will definitely help. Good job on getting in all that protein. I think I'm going to try tuna on Sunday. Sounds yummy. I'm doing better. I think I passed a kidney stone this week. I'm still sore on the left side but it feels better today than yesterday. Once I feel the muscles have healed on the left, I'll be eager to begin some light working out. Right now, it's just daily walks/strolls. -

@ALFxRNY - my follow up is in mid-August too. You must be holding on to some water weight. I'm sure you'll see a loss soon. You're nice and tall so everything is probably just trying to adjust around to the shock. Awesome job on the 35 lbs. already!!! What are your meals like right now? -

@Jessbear345 - your tuna and soup sound yummy! I'm excited to graduate to puree's in a couple days. @ALFxRNY - I feel you on the stall. I E-Mailed my doctor's office to see if they could send me my measurements they took in the office because I too have not been measuring. Great tip and reminder though because although the scale is not moving, I do feel a wee bit thinner. Jeans are a little loose today. -

I'm sure we'll experience a loss soon? We have to! I'm sure our bodies are just in starvation mode right now. What is your diet like right now? I'm curious about everybody. I'm feeling a little more hungry today as I haven't had much food at all post-op. I do fill fast though. I'm planning on adding another protein shake per day to the below: Water - 45ish ounces per day - trying to drink as much as possible Breakfast - 1 Premier Protein Shake Snack - sugar free Pudding Lunch - maybe like a 3/4 cup Creamy Soup - strained Dinner - 2 oz. low sugar Yogurt -

HOLY COW! Is this Dumping?
Little Kansas Kitty replied to Little Kansas Kitty's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thank you @Johnny2Thumbs! You're doing awesome! If sugar has no appeal to me anymore 3 months out, I'll be ecstatic. I'm glad to hear that dumping isn't as severe as I thought it was. Time heals all wounds. I'm sure I'll be feeling much better soon. -
OMG, I literally thought I was dying (I'm 13 days post op RNY Gastric Bypass). I was watching Netflix with my son, when all of a sudden I felt sleepy and had instant back pain. I told my son I was going to lie down upstairs. I went upstairs and took some liquid Tylenol for the back pain. Suddenly I felt flushed, rapid heart beat and the pain in my back became unbearable. I couldn't sit. I couldn't lie down. I just sat at the edge of my bed rocking and moaning and dizzy. Then, I felt pangs of pain, kind of like inside under the top of both rib cages on both sides. I couldn't stop trying to breathe the pain out and rock my body back and forth and moan. I felt dizzy and a little hot and felt like any minute I was going to faint and have to be rushed to the hospital. It took about 20 minutes of intense pain and then it disappeared. Was this Dumping? I retraced my steps and diet today and I had one change and that was that I took a Flinstone Multivitamin 2 hours ago. I told my doctor the other day that the Bariatric Chewable multi-vitamins tasted chalky to me and I could barely stand them. He recommended Flinstones. I just checked the ingredients and there is glucose syrup and sugar in them. Has anyone experienced these symptoms? Could it be dehydration or is this typical dumping? Sorry, so new to all of this still and I did not take a nutrition class so am learning from all of you and whatever I find online. This was super, super scary.

This 3 week stall is no joke it’s been over 2 weeks for me now 😓 Ugh! 2 weeks? I'm so sorry! I have literally weighed the exact same since Saturday. Not an ounce more or an ounce less. So strange to me. -

You're doing awesome! I just returned to work too. Lots of left side pain and I hit the 3 week stall. So glad I knew about it so I can make it through this week and hopefully begin losing again.
