  1. I am one year post op. My doctor says to eat 1200 calories a day 💁🏻 That’s a lot of food when it’s high protein! It used to be such few calories when I was fat before surgery 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

    Any August Sleevers out there?

Hey friends. Doing an update. I will be sleeved one year on August 17th. I have lost 95lbs. I am 5’2” 26 years old and weigh 138lbs. I am a size 8 in pants/dresses and a medium/small in shirts. I have saggy skin. Luckily it can be hidden with clothes. Photos are before and now. Problems: I am terrible with my water intake. I am always exhausted. I have zero energy. I don’t do pasta or breads: I tend to overdo it and end up vomiting. I am able to eat bad. That’s something I am scared of. Just like before the surgery, I am still constantly thinking about what I am going to put in my mouth. My brain will always have a fat soul. I have to use little plates or else I make my servings too large. I think I am content with my weight now. I need to start exercising. I do not exercise at all. It’s hard to eat well during the summer since I am a teacher. However, during the school year, I am strict with my diet on week days. I allow slip ups on the weekends. I still snack and drink alcohol, but that is just a weekend thing. Still trying to learn how to change my mindset. So beyond grateful for this surgery and my new life!
  3. Hi friends! Just got to overweight today!! I am 5’2”. I weighed 235lb on surgery day, and today I weighed 160.8. It has been 6 months 2 weeks and 3 days since surgery (August 17th). What I have learned: 1) you will still be hungry 2) you will still have cravings 3) you will still love food 4) you pretty much can’t eat and you have to always be aware with what you are putting in your mouth. My favorite food is pizza and I’ve had it about 4 times since. I loved pasta, but I never ever eat it alone like I used to. This way of living has been forced upon me because of surgery. Before I would binge, now I mindfully eat always. The first couple months were the worst. I was depressed and missed food so much, but I stuck with it Bc I didn’t want to feel like a failure. Now it is a habit to eat the way I do. Please keep that in mind. Force this habit on you from the beginning.
  4. I am 5 months post-op. I have lost 67 pounds (currently I weigh 168lbs), but I am still obese! Ugh!
  5. Don’t worry. It happens. Now the weight jumps down all of a sudden. It’s nice seeing that drop, but you’ll be stuck at the weight for like 2 weeks.

    Time off work

I went back exactly a week later. That was fine for me Just keep Advil on you and bring pudding/yogurt with you to munch on
  7. Yesterday I had a CT scan because I had horrible abdominal pain. Turns out I passed a kidney stone! 1) Have you had a CT scan and are cancer free? 2) Drink water! I know I suck at drinking. Kidney stones are the worst!
  8. I am 5 months post-op tomorrow. Since December 17th-January 16th I only lost 6lbs! Is that normal?
  9. Hi friends! I am 5 months post-op. I am soooooooo exhausted all the time. All I do is think about napping and sleeping. Probably extremely dehydrated as well because I rarely drink. Should I incorporate caffeine daily? I take my vitamins daily. Eat around 900-1000 calories a day. Just tired of being tired.

    Vitamins

If you just got VSG, you can take normal centrum multivitamin! That’s what my doctor said. I use the swallowable ones. I hated chewing those stupid, expensive Bariatric ones!
  11. Hi, females. I am 11 weeks post-op. My sex drive is nonexistent. I have none. It is starting to annoy my bf. Also, when I do the deed, I am in sooooo much pain because I am as dry as a bone. Anyone else experience this? In my 5 years of being sexually active, I have never had pain. Thanks!!
  12. I am a teacher, so I have been on winter break. I cannot wait for my usual eating patterns to return. Unfortunately, I do not eat in normal intervals when I don’t have work. Then, I get starving, and then make bad choices ugh! Anyone else have this problem?

    Hospital Stay?

    My stay was one night!
  14. I bought my students fresh, warm bagels for our Christmas party. I really wanted one so bad and was thinking about having half. However, I decided to just eat my protein bar first. Now I’m full and satisfied! No bagel for me! Therefore, if you’re craving something, just eat a protein bar first, or anything, and see if you still want that item. 4 months post-op and still learning. Also, I don’t trust my sleeve in public with new foods 😂😂😂😂

    Dumping....a right of VSG passage?

I still do not trust my sleeve at 4 months post-op. If I try something new and I’m not home, it can be a nightmare! So embarrassing!! No McDonald’s for me or pizza 😭😭😭 my sleeve hated it!!!!
  16. I have never been a water drinker, but since surgery, it has gotten worse! I drink about 16fl ounces of water a day!!! I just seem to drink when I’m thirsty, and I’m not thirsty too often. How is water going for everyone else? Tomorrow I will be 17 weeks post op.
  17. Sleeved on August 17th, and I was 235lb that day. I am currently 180.2lb. Progress is slowing down now 😭
  18. What’s funny is that I followed the diet perfectly. I only had to do it for a week. I lost 10lbs. However, my liver was still fat 😂 I know it’s hard but you can do it!!! Try to become a hobbit and have no social life it makes it easier

    Any August Sleevers out there?

Hi! I was sleeved on August 17th. I’ve lost 57lb since surgery. However, it is veryyy slow now, and the scale jumps down instead of going down steadily. Also, my hair is falling out like crazy. It is all over my bed and especially in the shower. I have super long hair though so it’s very annoying when falling out. I’ve been taking my vitamins and biotin since surgery. Never missed a day. Does not prevent hair loss. Things are getting easier mentally, but I still miss my comfort food.

  21. I am down 50lbs since surgery 3 months ago. I am very proud of myself, but I have been here before... twice. I just hope this times it stays off 😭😭😭 I can never ever ever keep the weight off! My patterns: 2010 I was 200lb 2011 I was 145lb 2012 I was 200lb 2016 I was my lowest of 139lb 2018 I was my heaviest of 245lb Now 185lb ugh the struggle is so annoying!!!

    Forgetting to chew

My problem is that I am still eating too fast ugh
  23. I find that the people on this site want you to be perfectly healthy and not eat breads or pastas or drink alcohol or have sweets. Just protein protein protein but no I cannot just have protein all the time I’ll go crazy! Therefore I started introducing pasta like once a week. I also will allow myself a few bites of a sweet once a week. Also, I am now drinking alcohol once a week. Just one drink. The problem is that you are drinking your calories, which are empty. Therefore just do it once or twice a week. Or one glass a day wouldn’t be horrible either. Keep it in moderation!
  24. I think you’re probably dehydrated. Worry more about liquids right now! I almost passed out during my first week!
  25. Hi, friends. I am 12 weeks post-op tomorrow. I am still miserable. I semi-regret this surgery. I miss food so much. I miss gorging myself. I miss the way food made me feel. I hate being scared of food. I hate always thinking of food and worrying about it. I hate this life I am now forced into. Yes, I have lost 45lb since surgery. 55lb since pre-op diet. However, food made me happy. Now I am unhappy. I think I am going to go to a therapist because this feeling is not getting better over time.
