Staying accountable and emotional eating
Ernie D replied to SydneySleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Honestly it just came to me as I was looking at what "nutrition" I needed at each stage, I embraced that instead of I need to eat etc. Trying to use new words for my new stomach. -

I can so relate. I am very similar to what you said. My surgery was April 23. I literally was a ball of tears on Saturday just tired of being tired as nothing stays in me and much is hard to even get down. But then Sunday seemed to be a little better, just a bit of relief I prayed for and I am hoping I am turning a corner. So many folks keep telling me to just hang in there, it gets better, well, I decided I better do just that, no turning back now. I hope you are feeling better very soon and things get more manageable.

Staying accountable and emotional eating
Ernie D replied to SydneySleever's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I work in the same kind of office Food everywhere I literally mean that I am in Sales for a Food Distributor. I also think we all emotionally eat/ate. 1 month inf from surgery and back to work now my 2nd week I find myself saying. I need to get some nutrition in me. I don't even say food anyone. When I say nutrition it reminds me I am taking care of my body and making good choices. I don't need the comfort foods anymore and they are most likely not good nutrition. Each day I make choices all day long. I could so easily have something I shouldn't but I put myself on this journey and am determined to see it through the best I can. -
Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. I agree GOD IS GOOD. I wish you and the baby the very best of health. Keep us posted on how things are going. Words of encouragement, prayers and sending smiles are always there .

Surgery Tomorrow, Feeling Anxious About Weird Things
Ernie D replied to Kay07's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
First of All YOU GOT THIS YOU ARE VERY PREPARED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Many things you will expect to happen do and some happen you didn't expect........so basically, go with the flow, listen to your surgeon and health providers, YOU WILL GET THROUGH THIS GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While I was in the hospital I completely shut myself off of TV, any social media etc. I just had time to think and rest and concentrate on me. I was taking care of everyone else right up until my surgery ( 28 days ago ) and just being able to be at the hospital and "listen" to my body and understand what was going on was good. Stay Encouraged, you go this far YOU ARE GOING TO DO GREAT . Sending Blessings and Best Wishes. -
Anyone get Anemia post sleeve?
Ernie D replied to SleeveinIL's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was supposed to be in the hospital 2 days ended up 6 days needed 2 blood transfusions. Surgeon said my hemocrit was so low they needed to get my blood back to normal . I didnt have any drainage tubes after the surgery but was filling up with some fluid and blood ( not at the surgery site, in my body cavity ). The transfusions seemed to work good, felt much better -
My Surgeon prescribed me Prilosec 2x day for 60 days , said heartburn is very common. Same here with even clear drinks seeming to set it off.

Anyone else allergic to artificial sugar ??
Ernie D replied to Ernie D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get immediate severe diarrhea bad headaches and joint pain. I say allergy perhaps an intolerance but either way it's hard to find things without them when you aren't supposed to have sugar. I seem to be ok with Stevia in moderation. -
only can eat 3 things that arent making me sick
Ernie D posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I am 3 weeks post op. I have only been able to consume cottage cheese, FF refried beans, Oikos tripple zero yogurt and my protein shakes. I have tried several different proteins for the pureed stage, and now in the ground stage. Moving on next two weeks to fork tender protein but I cant seem to get anything down I take very small bites and eat slowly , it all feels like its getting stuck in my Esosphogus. Cant drink anything with the eating so , i keep eating the same 3 things over and over I seem to tolerate. Cant eat any kind of egg they now make me vomit. tried different fine ground meats etc, nothing works getting very frustrated. -
Not eating soft foods yet! Exhausted and can’t get all protein in
Ernie D replied to amartinez8853's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my sleeve the same day. My surgeon explained to me that 6 weeks post surgery you are at risk of rupturing that new pouch. Do what they tell you. Try Oikos tripple zero yogurt. its got 15 grams of protein and i was allowed to sub that in for a shake. -

Thanks, Yes I have called the Nutritionist, was told to try different things. I see the surgeon in another week -
fat free refried beans go down easy. Oikos tripple zero yogurt is packed with protein and no added sugar of any kind.

Most likely its going to take at least 8 months to a year. Don't let that discourage you. After having the surgery 3 weeks ago, I am glad it took a while. Its a big change and new life and you have to give yourself time to wrap you head around what is going to happen in the short and long term. YOU can do this. I have Diabetes and IBS my body was fighting against itself . I can happily say I am almost off all of my insulin , already off of my blood pressure meds. I followed exactly what they told me and I am so glad I did. YOU can do this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wow you are back so soon. That is amazing. I wish you well. Be careful not to take on too much at once. My surgeon told me that pouch is at risk for 6 weeks after for rupturing. So take it slow and easy. Best of health to you !!!!

I can relate. 3 weeks post op and I feel like everything gets stuck after I swallow. I have tried everything suggested by the surgery team but its not working. Seems like I can only get down Greek Yogurt, Fine curd cottage cheese and FF refried beans. Other than that I feel sick all the time like food is just stuck and wont go down. Hope you can find some relief soon
