Hello everyone! Has anyone had lapbanding done in dayton ohio or its surrounding area? I am really interested in having this done. We have a new Doctor that has just started at the hospital I work at but am curious as to if anyone has had it done and by who. Any response would be greatly appreciated

Hello all.....just curious if anyone works out at Primere Fitness in Huber Heights? I just joined today. Figured I might as well pick up my exercising since I am pretty much healed from my tumor removal and hysterectomy. Didn't know if anyone else was a member and went there ever. Please let me know. I joined and also signed up my 15 yr old. Hoping that this will help her to lose some weight so she doesnt end up needing some sort of surgery later in life.

Just checking in to see how everyone is doing. Seems like things have been pretty quiet on here lately. Hope all is doing well. Penny....how are you recovering? Hope things are back on track for you and that the soreness is gone or at least almost gone.

Penny sorry that I just now saw the posting. I have not had computer access so I missed it all. Actually I was off of work and hope that you have good care and are healing wonderfully. Yes Penny that was me. I so wondered if that was you. I am still waiting for the office to get back with me to see if they can do an exp. lap on me at time of banding. I have lysis of adheasions to my belly from my hysterectomy and 17 lb tumor removal last nov. If they can get it approved that way my out of pocket expense will be dooable. Otherwise I will remain fat for several more years. I am saving and have been but our insurance sucks and it will cost me between 5-9 thousand for my portion. Keep me posted. Most all of Dr Siddiquis patients spend the night. There have only been a few who insisted on going home. Jess...is it priemer fitness that you go to? Maybe one day soon I will be able to make it back there. My schedule sucks right now.

Penny what did you think of the meeting yesterday? When is your appt set up for Dr Siddiqui? I was there also at the meeting with a fellow nurse that I work with. I am trying to get things worked out so that I can get my surgery a little cheaper then what my insurance charges by having lysis of adheasion surgery at the same time. So keep your fingers crossed for me please. Keep me posted on your date etc.

Dr Curry is in cincinnati. You can look him up on here even. Here he is known as DrC. He is a very pleasant person to talk to. Great surgeon as well.

I know several banded patients who were able to deliver natural without any complications.

Penny glad to hear that it is coming down finally! Its about time huh? Bet your feeling better with it not being as high too. Bet you'll be fine in time for your surgery. Keep us posted.

Missmonas I do know that Dr Trace Curry does fills for mexican banded patients. Also from what all that other dr from Syncrony was saying in this posting...their office does also. He however was unsure of the cost. I would call both and see what they charge etc. I do know of many patients banded by Dr Curry......all very happy. As for the other group mentioned....I do not know anyone who has been banded by them. Hope it helps. Jazzywoman.....I love downtown cincinnati when it snows....use to date a nurse that lived smack downtown in a highrise and loved the view. lol

Penny I would still go to your informational meeting on feb 6th. By the time your in to see the dr and have everything else done your blood pressure should be down to where it wont be an issue to have him sign off. Besides the surgery itself and the weightloss will make your b/p drop quickly. Keep us posted as to how your blood pressure issues are going. Did he prescribe you an antihypertensive medication?

Thats fantastic! I would love to be there and be your nurse. Just keep me posted on how things are going. Janet the bariatric coordinator can also check and see if I am working that day and then they can make sure that I work and am assigned to take care of you. They have even had me come in on my days off to take care of banded patients.

However this past week has been total hell with my asthma.....just call me wheezzzzzzzzie lol Penny...did you know that they are having two info sessions in jan so that way you wont have to wait til feb 6th? RB99JABB It is so nice to meet you. I work at Good Sam and take care of the post banded patients. Dr Siddiqui is fantastic. I have attended his meeting and they also just started a support class for the banded patients. I am saving my money to be banded. He is the person that will band me. Unfortunately our insurance isnt the best at the hospital and it is very expensive for us to be banded or any gastric surgery for that point. Let me know if you have any questions. Our bariatric rooms are beautiful. I can try and attend the meeting with you if you would like. As long as I dont work that night. The nights I work and we have banded patients I am the one that does all the post op education to make sure any questions are answered before the patient goes home. Congratulations! Yes you are right that is what meds are for. Along with the walking and drinking!

There were several bandsters support groups in this area. However I havent seen anyone post about that on here in along time. I do know that the hospitals have support groups as well. Kettering has one with their drs. Good Sam and also The Valley have one each. I will let you know if I hear of any meetings. I am not banded as of yet...however, I do take care of the band patients and do all the post op teaching for them while they are in the hospital and make sure that they understand completely what they have to do and need to have at home when they get there. Please let me know if there is anything that I can do for you! By the way congratulations on your band!

Most of the time you will have diarrhea after being banded because you are only taking liquids in so only liquids will come out. As your diet increases so will the consistency of your stool. As for cdiff. Sometimes the antibiotics that you are given pre and post op will kill too much of the nautral bacteria and then you end up with cdiff. It is very treatable by taking the flagyl. Make sure you take all of it. The only true way to know if you have cdiff is a stool sample to the lab. Some people the diarrhea will stay the same just less explosive until all the antibiotic is completed. Hope that you feel much better soon!

Ruth out of all the post of surgeries I have taken care of only one who was done open and it was because of how fatty her liver was and they needed more space to be able to lift her liver up out of the way. Recovery is little longer and of course lap. is always less painful. We have had several who have had major previous open surgeries and they were able to be done as a lap. Sometime the surgeon will do lysis of adheasions and remove that scar tissue while he is in there to keep from problems further down the road. All depends on the surgeon and his techniques. I am sorry that you had that happen. Unfortunately I dont know of any around that are. But have to say even if they were still having those meetings I am not sure if I were you I would want to return. The least she could have done was answered your email. I find that rude and very unprofessional! Good luck with finding a meeting.

Dr Trace Curry takes mexican banded patients he is in cincinnati. Not sure of anyother ones however. I will check with the dr who does the banding at my hospital for you next time I see him. Congratulations on your band date!

Carol sorry it has taken me so long to get back with you. Things have been hectic between working third shifts and the girls. Yes Dr Siddiqui use to be in with them. No longer however. He at this time is the only one doing any surgeries at Good Sam. You were banded on my birthday what a wonderful day to be banded lol. Susan, congratulations on your banding. Wondered if you fell off the face of the earth. Glad things are going well with you. I went to a meeting for work the other night...besides I figured if they fineally start paying for them at work I will have some things out of the way. Dr Siddiqui was talking to Janet the bariatric coordinator and listening to what all I know. He told her he wants me to be put on the bariatric team!!! HE told her to talk to who she needed and if he needed to talk to someone then he would. I begged him to band me for free...lol said what better advertisement then having a banded nurse caring for your banded patients....Keep your fingers crossed for me. IT would be such a wonderful job. I can continue to do what I love and help others on a more personal level besides just post operatively.
