WLS and Spinal Injuries and previous gastro problems

Oh man... it is gonna be hard. I have stenosis but only at l4-l5 and l5-s1, and I haven’t had any fusions. And I’m really struggling tonight. I have been using a CBD balm when I go sleep at night. It helps a little. I don't have a tub anymore, but when I did, CBD bath bombs were AMAZING for helping my pain and helping me get to sleep. I’m here if you ever wanna chat. -
WLS and Spinal Injuries and previous gastro problems

I do. Very similar story actually, I’m just a month ahead. i had my consult on July 6, and unfortunately, for me, it was some tough love. I’ve been on heavy doses of percocet since last October for spine problems and I had a laminotomy and discectomy at the end of March. I still have a ton of pain, plus, I still have radiculopathy on the right. I’ve been tapering my pain meds as much as possible, but when I saw the surgeon, he said, no more. Opioids can slow down your intestines, so cant take those. honestly, I just try to tell myself how much better the pain will be when the weight is gone. -
To get a surgery date!! I’m so happy, I scheduled my surgery today for August 6th and it can’t come fast enough! I started my journey in May of 2018. I enrolled in the 10 weeks of classes required by my insurance and then.... I broke both my feet. I stopped the classes half way through cause it was just too much to deal with. Then I started classes again in March 2019 and then... I got pregnant. I actually lost 70 lbs while pregnant, because I had hyperemesis gravidarum so badly that I couldn’t eat or drink and had to be on IV fluids for my entire pregnancy. Started classes again in 2020. BOOM. Covid. And then I needed surgery on my spine. But I finished my classes in January, had spinal surgery in March and I’m finally, FINALLY scheduled for my surgery!! Now all I have to do is wait for the next month to creep by. Come on August!!!

You can do this. I promise. It’s a lot, but you know what? None of it was hard. It was just...a lot. I’m just ready to feel better. I’m ready to give my back and my feet and my hips a break. I’m ready to feel sexy in clothes again! And I bet you’re ready too. Don’t be afraid to ask anything! We’re all here to feel better! -
WHERE ARE MY AUGUST 2021 PEEPS?
Tinyhounds replied to phenomenally_me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Started my liver shrink diet on the 7th- I’m more than a week in and you know what? I’m freaking perplexed. I haven’t lost any weight. I’ve been good too. Oh well. I know the weight-loss will come. I got my surgery instructions from the doctor today. My arrival time isn’t till 12:30 pm but they still want me to stop eating and drinking at midnight. I’m gonna be hella nauseated by the time I roll up in there. 20 days! -

I finished my classes in February, got the green light for labs at the end of April, and finally had my surgery consult yesterday (7/6). My surgery is scheduled for 8/6, so it’s been nearly 6 months since finishing the classes!!! -
Wow! I only have to do a week with no red meat and 2 days of a liquid diet before hand! That’s wild how much variation there is!!

Hi there! I’m also going through Kaiser and have a very similar story. I did my referral process last year, and finished my 10 weeks of options classes in January. Everything was closed because of covid though so I was just in limbo. I finally got my referral approvals in the mail today and was told that I should be contacted by the surgeons office any day now. I’m in riverside county, so I’ll be going with Dr. Suh. Looking forward to updating soon with how things are going!!
