  1. 8/6 I started my 2 week preop diet and drank 4 protein shakes a day. It wasn't pleasant but not as hard as I thought it would be. My surgery was 8/20, then one week of diluted gatorade. Then 2 weeks of protein shakes. I am on the second week of protein shakes and I am miserable. Just trying to hold myself together and get through this but the protein shakes and the vitamins are so gross.

    Hungry after surgery

Idk but I am having the same issue. It just feels like pressure in my chest when I drink my water

    Hungry after surgery

I had my surgery 2 days ago and I'm hungry. I'm sure it is mental but mentally I want to eat like my old self. Physically, I can barely get my water down. So much gurgling going on. Good luck!
  4. thanks for all the replies. I'm definitely a compulsive eater and even being aware of it, it's hard to control! but I'm working on it, baby steps
  5. which is how I ended up where I am today. so if I know logically what I should and shouldn't eat, why do I still overeat? I think I have a legit fear of being hungry, like if I don't eat this now, it might not be here later or if I don't eat now while food is available, I will be hungry later on. I feel like if I don't "fix" these issues before my surgery then I'm going to fail. So much over thinking going on right now. My surgery is coming up in August and I want to start making sustainable routines now. I'm just not sure where to start
  6. To do:

    1. attend one more class in June and then one on one with dietitian in July.
    2. make appts: EGD, psych eval, sleep study, & redo cardiac appt.
    3. make shopping list for vitamins/supplements
    4. create a new routine with exercise in the morning
    5. figure out meal planning/simple, repeatable menu of healthy meals
    • all things are possible
    • you are not alone

if you can wrestle 2 kids in car seats onto an airplane by yourself, then this is doable.
