I am approximately two and a half years out from vsg surgery. I've noticed I still have a lot of restriction in the morning and early afternoon - one egg fills me. But in the evening it seems like I can just continually eat without getting the full feeling or restriction. I still follow the same nutritional plan - mainly protein with small amounts of vegetables. Anyone else experience this?

Completely normal and it will get easier. Try taking smaller sips and spacing it out more.

Denied after being approved and devastated
kathy060464 replied to Panda333's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't even bother with trying to appeal their decision. You will end up losing your appeal anyways and become even more frustrated. I'd get all your records immediately and go to an approved surgeon. If you waste time trying to appeal their decision you're going to end up having to start all over again! -
I'll be 6 months out on 4/11/19. Since starting this journey last April I have lost a total of 90 pounds. I lost 35 pounds before surgery including the pre-op diet and 55 pounds since surgery. I'm currently at 175 and the scale hasn't budged in over 6 weeks. I'm only 5'3" so I still have a substantial amount to lose. I'm hoping it's just my body trying to catch up. It's so nice to read everyone else's progress.

I had my labs done a week before my 3 month post-op appt so the Dr. would have the results. When I left that day the doctor gave me my lab orders for my 6 month appt. which I will have done a week in advance.

I had my 3 month post op appt yesterday. Surgeon was very happy with my results and said I was doing better than most which was a relief as I always feel I'm a slow loser. I've lost 37 pounds since surgery date and 72 pounds since my first meeting with surgeon last April. My only issue is hair loss. I get 60-70 grams of protein daily but he suggested I up it to 80 grams. Due to my sleeve restriction I really can't eat more protein so he suggested an unflavored protein powder I could add to my food or drink. What do you all recommend as the best unflavored protein powder?

I take 2 colace every day. Surgeon suggested it.

I also had the home test for sleep apnea. I picked up the kit from the doctor's office which I had to return the next day. I had something around my chest with a battery pack and a thin cannula in my nose. Insurance covered the test in full. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and now have been using a CPAP for about 4 months. Insurance covers part of my CPAP machine and supplies.

Thanks! I was taking Aleve for arthritis pre-surgery. Now I'm only allowed Tylenol and as you state it doesn't do as good of job with the pain as an NSAID. My hope is the weight loss will help with the joint pain.
-
So after surgery what are you taking in place of Celebrex? My understanding is NSAIDS are not allowed at all.

I can get my 60g of protein in but struggle with my fluids. What's worked for you?
-
I was told 1 oz of protein at breakfast and 2 oz of protein at lunch and dinner. I sometimes can't finish the 2 oz
-
Just tell them you think you have a stomach bug so you don't want to eat much if at all. You could always have soup.
-
No, the swelling has just gone down. You're fine!
-
Did you get the chewable ones? If so, how do they taste?

I just started ordering from them last week. I've been having an issue getting my order filled and shipped. I've called back and they apologize and say they've been having problems. Tuesday they said they would expedite the order and now its Thursday and I haven't even received the email with tracking. I really would like to use them but I need to have my vitamins timely.

Take 2 Colace now. You can definitely get very constipated during the pre-op liquid diet. -
Is one week off work enough?
kathy060464 replied to Samantha1324's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I only had 6 days off - surgery on Thursday and went back to work the following Friday. I agree with others that everyone one is different and I too only have a desk job. I only took pain meds the first day after surgery when I got home, nothing after that. I also did not lie around in bed. I was up and walking or even just sitting in a chair. Liquids only were easier at work, you stay busy and just sip all day long at your desk. -
I'm sure I'm making this harder than it should be

I would bring a cooler with your normal drinks - protein shakes, water. -
Out the other side

Completely mormal! -
I'm doing well also. I was struggle to get all my protein and liquids but today was much better! My incisions sometime are painful especially the one with staples where the drain was placed. I'm still careful getting in and out of bed but that's improved as well. I agree that coughing and sneezing are painful!! If I feel one coming on I grab my belly tightly and that seems to help some. On the day of surgery, I weighed 228.8. When I was discharged I weighed 243.8. (15 pounds of fluid!). As of this morning I'm back down to surgery weight of 228.8. Ive lost a total of 35 pounds since starting my journey in April so I'm very happy! I'm still learning to take tiny, tiny sips and only 1 or 2 at a time or I get the pain in the middle of my chest. I went back to work today and didn't have any issues other than being a little tired at the end of the day. Glad to find a surgery twin!

@ElectricBoogaloo Cool! How's your first week post-op been?
-
Good luck with the surgery and quick healing! Just remember it gets a little better every day!
-
I gained 15 pounds from surgery and I was only there 24 hrs. I know it's all the fluids they pump into you. I'm 5 days post-op and I've lost 10 of those 15 pounds but can easily see myself being at my surgery weight at my 2 week check-up. I'm hoping that's normal.

Good luck!
