    ugh!! Quitting Smoking!!!

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for the encouragement. I have tried so many things in the past, but I have heard a lot of great things about Chantix, so I am going to give that a try this time. I see my PCP on May 1st so I will ask for a script. I have until 8 wks before surgery date, which I won't have for at least 5 months, so that gives me time to keep trying until I am finally smoke free. I've cut back some already, but IT IS HARD!!

    ugh!! Quitting Smoking!!!

They said that it could cause ulcers, of course since this was the first consult I was kind of nervous and just said (like a dumb**s) Well I guess that is something else I have to work on. Along with dropping Diet Coke. I'll have to do a little more prying next time. Thanks for the info..

    Where is everyone from???

Hey all.. I'm from East Tawas Michigan..
  4. I also have my first surgical eval tomorrow, I am very nervous too. I already know I have to do the 6 month diet so that my insurance will pay for the WLS, i'm 1 month in so at least 5 months to go before I can be banded. Just keep reading these threads and you will learn lots!!!!! I know I have learned a great deal, and am very thankful to have found this site. Hopefully they don't make you go through all of those tests, but by the sounds of other people's experiences it just depends on your doc. Good Luck to you tomorrow. I haven't scheduled my psych appt yet, hopefully soon.

    Eating slow...

I too have been trying to practice taking smaller bites & chew & chew. I have 2 young children the youngest will be one next month. I have found it a little easier to give him a bite of dinner and then give myself a bite and i chew & chew till he's had about 3 spoonfuls. Seems to help me eat slowly because if I'm trying to eat to fast he yells and wants his before i get to eat. I look at his mushy food though, and think... can I really handle eating food at that consistency post op??
  6. I am looking into getting banded at Hurley Bariatric in Flint, MI, has anyone here had any experience with that bariatric center? My first consultation with surgeon is april 22nd.

    menstruation

I have always had pretty regular .'s but after my 1st child I chose the Mirena IUD as my b/c of choice. It's good for 5 years, it is completely reversable, which is great! Had it removed after a year and a half to have a second child. Then got it again. After about 7 months, I don't have a real period. Just a couple days (if that) of light spotting... ... LOVE IT My luck though, when it's time to have my surgery I'll probably bleed for a week...
  8. Thanks Billiebyeu.. appreciate the info. That is the Dr. that I will be seeing. Did you have to jump through any hoops?? You will have to let me know how surgery goes... Good Luck:thumbup:
  9. I'm scheduled to meet with my surgeon/dietician for the first time next tuesday. Have to do the 6 month diet with family physician first so I started that april 1st. Can anyone tell me what to expect on this initial consult?? thanks:confused:

    Newbie

Great info in the first reply... I just started the 6 month diet with family physician that my insurance requires. I do not have any co-morbidities, if I had a bmi of over 50 they would have covered it right away. kind of stupid.. if you ask me. My first consult with weight loss surgeon is april 22nd though to get the ball rolling.
