madscientistmommy replied to stacelistman's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It gets much easier. You are still very early. Every day you will feel better. -
Scared abd Undecided
madscientistmommy replied to cledwards's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My practice doesn’t offer the band, they don’t feel it is good for the patient. The surgeon said you are still hungry but can’t eat. They recommend the sleeve for most patients, and then the bypass. I’m so pleased with the sleeve, though I’m only 50 days out. -
Ladies! I'll let you in on a little secret!

I did all my shopping online too. I’m Finally enjoying going to the store again. -
I was suprised with sleeve surgery a week ago.

What a shock that must have been! You may want to go to a support group for Bariatric surgery and go see a bariatric surgeon too. They might be able to advise you through this because they deal with this surgery day in and day out. We do a lot of preparation and meet with nutritionists. It might be helpful. I do think you probably could stretch out the stomach eventually. -
Which Food Tracker App/Log Are You Using?
madscientistmommy replied to Wanda247's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Baritastic is great. The food logging has been fine for me, but it’s not the best. -
Can I have a half glass of Wine with a steak
madscientistmommy replied to apositivelife4me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was told no alcohol for a year after surgery. -
I cleared out nine bags of clothing. Most of it things I didn’t like, but I just bought because it fit. Kept a few fat clothes so I can show my progress. A few dresses I was sad to go, and I kept a fancy dress I will have altered for Christmas. HW 255 SW 234 5/9/18 CW 197.5

I take it every night too. I switched to a chewable after surgery. I’m about 46 days out and pills are ok, but they were hard at first.

Yes! In the western burbs inside 95. I went to Newton Wellesley, where are you going?

Have you purchased any goal clothing for after surgery?
madscientistmommy replied to Ylime's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did. But just a few sizes down. My smaller sizes were out of style-wide legged work pants mostly. -
Some questions/concerns
madscientistmommy replied to Jpsl1028's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only downside for the low calories for me is that I get cold very easily now. I was always the person who was too hot and sweaty. Now I have a space heater in my office. I got such a chill watching my kids games outside that I had to take a hot shower when I got home -
Some questions/concerns
madscientistmommy replied to Jpsl1028's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was a little hungry on the puréed diet. I had to pick the thick choices like hummus and peanut butter. I’m not hungry on solids, except when it’s time to eat ancthen I’m easily satisfied. You are fine on low calories. In fact, rodents on serious calorie restriction live longer and don’t get cancer. They have a youthful appearance for much longer. Many many studies have been done on this. (The human equivalent would be less than 500-600 calories forever if I remember right). We will be above that. -

Congrats! I just made it under 200 yesterday! Haven’t been under 200 since 1999 I think! -
At an amusement park now that I’m 53 pounds down. I can fit in all the rides! Sadly, I’m older and some of them make me sick now. Lol!
-
I’m totally fine now-sleeve was right for me. I don’t know what is right for you, and I doubt your surgeon is an expert now. You need to see a GI doc to get some advice. Hopefully at the same hospital so it’s easy for them to consult.

How much have you lost?
madscientistmommy replied to sasa_maria's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m 5’5” and I was 255 HW, 234 SW on 5/9/18. I’m 202 now-53 lbs down. I’m 47. -
So, there might be meds you can take to help your esophagus work better. My GI doc told me about them during my work up. You need to go see a good GI doc now and see what they can do to help you.
-
I have nutcracker esophagus. I found out during my work up-the barium pill got stuck in my throat during the upper GI. I had a million tests and they cleared me for the sleeve. I had no idea that I had this problem either. I’m SO sorry that you are having issues. How miserable. From what my GI doc said, if you are having this problem I think a bypass will work for you. It’s a lower pressure system so the food will go down better.

Surgery sites uncomfortable
madscientistmommy replied to Jkersh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They are itchy because they are healing. I wouldn’t put cream on them because you want them to stay dry and not infected. Call the nurses and ask advice. Mine were itchy from about day 6 to day 10 or so. Hang in there. -
I ate at Burger King yesterday

Swallowing whole small pills right after surgery

Space them out too! I tried to take three pills 5 min apart and it was not good! Got stuck! -
Oh my goodness! I’m so glad you are getting him out of your life. You mentioned that your previous relationship was with someone who verbally abused you. I know that I have just started this road in May 2018, but I think a lot of emotional stuff comes up with weight loss. Maybe seeing a therapist to help you through all the dramatic changes and help you see that you deserve to be treated well would be a good thing. I hope you continue to gain confidence in yourself and find someone who will not denigrate you, but who will treat you with the care you deserve.

Hi there! I’m one month out from my VSG surgery and I’ve lost 47 lbs (21 before, 26 after). I’m still about 48 lbs from the weight I was 20 years ago, but my wedding ring is really loose. The fat had gone all around the ring, but not right under it. I’m wondering if the fat will remodel under my rings so they will fit again, or if I will need to get them resized. Thanks!
