Massive gut not shrinking
madscientistmommy replied to Walter.Sobchak's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Omg, this happens to me too! Sometimes when I’m driving I can feel the bones shifting around on my flabby ass. It’s really uncomfortable!!! -
I agree on the exercise-just a small bike ride or walk can make a difference. And lots of water!!
-
You are actually pretty low BMI already. What is your goal weight? I am 5’ 5” and was 234 when I was sleeved. My weight loss slowed down when I got to 185. I’m going up and down a bit but still down. You will get there!!

My friends did this and one lost over 50 lbs and I think the other did similarly. -
Weight loss month by month - how did you do?

Did I mention that my already thinning hair is falling out? And that I’ve got killer arthritis in my knee now (using a cane today)? I think it was a fair trade, but still... 😀 -
Knee problems starting AFTER weight loss?
madscientistmommy posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I injured my knee when I was 18 (ACL reconstruction). I’m 48 now and developed moderate to severe arthritis in that knee, starting after I lost about 20 lbs before surgery. I have now lost 80lbs total and my knee is toast. My surgeon said that sometimes the fat stabilizes the joint and weight loss can bring this on. My orthopedist says that my weight loss was too little too late and I had already done the damage. Anyone else experience this? Because misery loves company. Come sit next to me and have some whine and (lowfat) cheese (stick). -
I take lisinopril and my nephrologist told me to hold the pill before surgery. I’m so sorry what happened to you!!

I am also an executive and I travel for my job too. I love to cook, go out and have parties. I loved to drink. I have given up drinking and haven’t missed it much at all. I have dropped 83 lbs of the 105 to goal weight in under 4 months. I don’t have sleep apnea. I had an extra 6 inches on the seat belt when I flew last time. I almost took a picture. I went from 255, size 22/3X to 172 size 14/16 L/XL. And I’m not at goal. I still cook-my 800 calories a day are tasty meals. And I had a dinner party too. I still like going to restaurants, I am just having more salads than I used too. Totally worth it. Also-I am pretty much carb-free. Haven’t missed that much either. -
3 days post op, could eat a horse.

Definitely call your doctor. The nurse suggested to me the thicker foods to trigger the restriction. -

I was very hungry. From my post op diet I chose the thickest things I could-a tablespoon of peanut butter, 2 tbls of hummus, very thick Greek yogurt. Anything like soup or applesauce left me hungry. I pretty much ate hummus 3 tines a day. Oatmeal that was thick was ok too (weight control oatmeal) -

I’ve been very careful with the diet and just started having a few nibbles of carbs and the occasional treat in the last couple of weeks. -
My surgery is today. Feeling scared, but also determined.

Wishing you the best! I am so glad I made this decision and I hope it as positive for you as it was for me! -
I took 2 weeks and then part time for a week. Then full time. I felt pretty good, but tired easily. It was very hard to stay hydrated and eat at work and I had a lot more flexibility than a teacher. (Desk job)

Moved to soft foods today. Clogged the toilet. Coincidence? I think not

Feel better soon. -
I use fleet suppositories when I’m in bad shape. I take miralax every single day now. I feel your pain.

I was hungry a few days after surgery. When I could eat more solid purée I felt better. I needed to eat thick things like peanut butter and hummus to feel full. I still get hungry and I try to chose things that will fill me-carrots instead of soup. I eat a lot of salads now. I was panicking when I was hungry and thought I wouldn’t be successful or would be hungry all the time. I’ve lost 61 lbs in the last 4 months post surgery for a total of 82. I’ve lost 76% of my excess weight. Let me know if you have any questions!

What is your most embarrassing NSV?

That’s a pretty jerk move! Have fun shopping this weekend! -
I have had sushi at about 3 months post op. I could eat about 3-4 small maki in a sitting. Main problem is trying to decide which ones I want since I can have so few! I love unagi but didn’t want so much rice so I ordered that without rice.

This isn’t a gift, it’s a tool. You deserve to have this. Let go of your shame. Today is a new day. Take your vitamins first. I fill a pill box every week to take my vitamins in. If I haven’t taken them all by bed, I swallow them down before I brush my teeth. I keep calcium chews in my purse, at my desk, in my spare purse. Once you do that you will feel better that you are on track. Make your doctor appointment. And maybe think about a support group. I’m also around 3-4 months and the weight loss is slowing. I don’t want to go back.

Yeah!!! I bought a Billy Joel shirt that I’m hoping to fit into soon. So exciting! But why are those sizes so small?? 🤔

I use a pill organizer and if I haven’t gotten them all, I take them at bedtime. Great job, you look fabulous! -
I had that. It’s the wounds healing.
