    Guilty!

I starting getting really hungry about 4 days after surgery and ate some pureed potato soup and that helped. I was only able to eat a few bites at a sitting though. But when I went to the Dr. for my 1 week check-up he said that the reason I was so hungry was because my swelling was quickly going away and leaving a lot of space between my stomach and my band. This is all very good and he let me move to the mooshie stage a week early. Call your Dr. maybe you can advance to the next level too. Good Luck and don't worry I think we all slip from time to time. I know that I am eating things that aren't "mooshie" like the half of a pork chop that I had for dinner last night. But I just chew it really well and so far I have lost 17 pounds and my Dr. says I am doing great. We are all different.

    I guess im a baby!

I was banded on Aug 14 and returned to work on Aug 18 only because I had to. The first week whenever I had tightness in my chest or shoulder pain it was because of gas and I used my sons Mylacon drops and the pain was gone almost immediately. The Mylacon drops worked much better FOR ME then Gas X strips. Maybe it's worth a try for you too. They are in the infant section at your local drug store or super center. Hope this helps. YJGIRL78 P.S. Does anyone know how to get the little tickers to appear at the bottom of your screen? I have tried and tried but can't figure it out.

    Swollen Belly after Surgery

I lost 9 pounds prior to surgery during the week of fasting. I am still swollen though. People keep asking me if I am losing any weight yet. I am like YES can't you tell? haha I am sure a lot of my weight loss is Water weight though and I will probably gain it back when I start eating again. I am starving already and I am not even a week post op yet. I expected the Protein shakes and Soups to keep me full longer then a few days post-op. I didn't expect not eating post-op would be as hard as pre-op but it looks like it will be... I am so sick of Protein Shakes they make me gag just about each time I drink one now. Good Luck to you all. I am thinking about you and cheering for you. I think we all need all the help we can get at this point.

    Swollen Belly after Surgery

I guess it depends on your Dr. because I was banded Aug 14 and have lost 17 pounds. I am a little swollen but able to wear my jeans for my first day back to work today. Keep up the good work guys. I am proud of all of you. YJGirl78

    "personal" smell

Fanny Adams My Dr. said the same thing. Ketosis causes a change in body chemestry which causes a change in personal oders. Think about it, you are eating less and your body is using all of that stored fat and sugar and since you are now basically eating a high protein low carb diet you aren't replacing all of the minerals and crap in sugary foods so if you are eating differently, of course your body will smell differently. If we all ate garlic we would smell like it. If we all ate chili powder or curry we would smell like it... Now it's just what we are NOT eating anymore that is making our body change.

    What to try????

EAS makes a really good Protein shake called Myoplex. They have different kinds anywhere from 20 grams of protein to 42 per shake and the carbs are really low too. Another really good one that I stumbled on last week is called nectar. It tastes like kool-aid and is very refreshing. It is not as filling as the EAS shakes but it is perfect for right after surgery when you really can't swallow anything thick anyway. Bonus:: You can always add yogurt and fruit to it to thicken it up. Cheapest place I have found to buy it is: Bodybuilding.com - Syntrax Nectar - Best Tasting Protein! On sale now! This is actually a great site to learn about the different Proteins in the drinks that we are buying. Like everything else, there are high and low grades to protein powders too. No sence in wasting more money on nasty tasting Protein Drinks if you don't have to. Besides, some of them like muscle milk are made to gain muscle weight and unless you are working out regularly and weight training, you really don't need that type of protin drink. Look for the Meal Replacement shakes not the ones that will bulk you up. Save the calories and stuff you really don't need in the beginning when you are trying to lose weight. Read the product reviews. This helped me tremendously. Hope it does you too. Crystal Banded on 8/14/2008. Starving but so excited!!!!
