  1. Hi everyone! My surgery is tomorrow and I’m officially in panic mode! What protein supplements are you guys using? I’m doing some last minute shopping... My biggest fear for tomorrow is waking up to a breathing tube in my throat after the surgery. They say that they take it out while you are awake but not 100% alert — I don’t know if I trust. Lol. Can anyone share their experiences??? As well, how was your pain level???? Pls share as I’m going nuts with the fear of unknown!!! thanks
  2. Thank you so much for all of your stories! It does ease my anxiety a bit. Question: are gummy vitamins okay or is it just liquid or chewables? It doesn’t specify on my info sheet
  3. Okay so I apologize in advance for the TMI.... I am on liquid diet day 4 and have been struggling with running to the bathroom after every drink (even water) and veggie. I’m allowed to have 4 protein shakes and 2 cups of veggies (only broccoli, green pepper, lettuce, cucumbers, or celery). Every time I consume something it feels like glass inside my intestines and I have to run to the toilet. It’s literally like liquid in, liquid out. Does this happen to anyone else? They warned me that I might experience constipation because of the lack of fibre but this is the exact opposite. i have a road trip to go on this weekend and I’m scared that I will have to pull over every 15 min! sorry for the details lol
  4. Lol! So true! Thanks for saying that Silver lining — at least I’m not Hangry anymore. Woo! Lol
  5. Thanks for all of your responses! UPDATE: So I went for my pre-surgical appointment yesterday and was told that my body was not tolerating the shakes and going to the washroom 20+ times a day with the runs was not normal. They gave me an alternative meal plan for my last two weeks. It’s basically a high protein, low carb low fat plan. Although I was super excited to have food again, I feel guilty for not following through the liquid diet. Either way, I’m glad they figured out what was wrong and now my stomach doesn’t hurt anymore. Yay! lol
  6. Me too!!!! I even bought Benefibre to mix into my drinks to remedy the constipation. Thank goodness I didn’t use it otherwise I’d really be crying! Lol.
  7. I’m glad it’s easing up for you. I’m hoping it does the same for me. I’m afraid to leave the house and even dropping my boys off to school makes me nervous and it literally takes 10 min if even. Maybe day 5 will be kinder to me.
  8. I have only eaten green peppers, broccoli, and celery these past few days and I’ve never had problems before...they’re my fav veggies. I have never tried whey before so I’m really not sure. Maybe that’s the culprit??
  9. Thanks! I read the optifast package and it says it’s lactose free? I’m gonna call the doctor tomorrow to see if there’s an alternative that I can try. This is my pre-op liquid diet in prep for gastric bypass surgery on May 28th. I have to do three weeks.

    Liquid diet help

Thanks! I’m trying to look at the bigger picture but I just get overwhelmed sometimes.
  11. Hi I’m on day 2 of this liquid diet and I have 3 weeks to go! My surgery date is May 28th. I already had a break down and I have been so moody. I’m just confused because from all the forums that I have read, people are allowed to eat yogurt, sugar freepopsicles and Jello and some even get to have some time of “real meal”. I’m only allowed 2 cups of broccoli, green pepper, celery, lettuce or cucumber and that’s all for the day (plus my 4 Optifast shakes) I have two young boys and I can barely keep up with them with this lack of energy. any suggestions? I’m not allowed broths because the nurse said sodium would hinder weight loss but I feel like I’m not allowed to eat anything. Anyone on the same diet as me? Help? Thanks for reading my vent

    Liquid diet help

I’m doing the gastric bypass...I’m pretty sure the number of weeks was based on weight but I just thought 3 weeks was extra long! I’m really hoping my body gets used to this and the headaches and dizziness goes away. Not fun!!!
