  1. Started back adding my regular medicine, believe it is causing nausea, not sure. had to add back cymbalta, taking blood pressure medicine since surgery, stopped provigil but am having to add back for narcolepsy. Cymbalta is capsule 60 and 30 total 90 per day for pain. Type 2 Diabetes, but bs numbers are down. Beginning weight 306, to date 277!
  2. 11 days Post Op.  Every day seems another challenge.  Today first post op appointment.  Emotions all over the place!  I had stopped taking cymbalta because it was capsule and I read somewhere not to take capsules for ten days post op.  Anyway probably not a good idea and Dr. advised to start back on it, so I came home and took the capsule with protein drink, then took a vitamin and got violently nausea.  Threw up but just dry heaves. 5 hours later still nauseous.  I guess I overdid it with the combination!

Your Cymbalta is probably extended release and if you had a bypass you won’t absorb it. Extended release meds are a no-no. You need something like Effexor if your Cymbalta was for depression. It’s not extended release.

I just want to add that drinking your protein excruciatingly slow is the trick to not throwing up. I mean a sip every few minutes. It should take 30-40 minutes to get the drink into your body. It’s tedious but that’s life now. I am 2 years post op and still need to drink very very slow. It’s actually a good thing as it means my pouch hasn’t stretched out!!

Dr says cymbalta was fine, when I was off it for six or seven days I was insane, emotional, crying, hurting all over, etc. Took 90 ms as I have for years once at night and it has stopped the pain but still feeling shaky and nauseous. I need an expert before I stop taking it again. Maybe nausea will go away. Everyone says you can't stop taking cymbalta cold turkey.
