  1. By the way, Congratulations on your upcoming bypass! I had mine March 27th. You'll do great! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Hi, there! When I'm measuring out things like cheese or deli turkey, I use a scale and weigh it. When measuring softer things like yogurt, ricotta, refried beans, I use a measuring cup. Some folks use a measuring cup and put all their food in that so they're not going over a certain volume, like 1/2 cup or something. I'm sure other folks will chime in with some good advice! To have surgery in September or wait

I also have Bipolar Disorder and would strongly suggest you get your meds straightened out before surgery. I had to switch my antidepressant from extended release once a day to immediate release 3 times a day before surgery. I recently discovered that due to the gastric bypass I am not absorbing the antidepressant properly. Now I have to totally switch to another antidepressant in liquid form. I would hate for you to have surgery, then have your meds all messed up. Wait a month or two. As someone else said, in the big picture, a small delay isn't a big deal. Good luck, and keep us posted! BFF acting strange

Thanks! I like your positive advice. I'm never gonna mention to her that I think she's acting a little off, so, great advice to just be myself. I probably won't tell her how much I lose, or what I weigh, though[emoji4] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  8. Yes! So glad you posted this because I was just going to post the same question!! I'm 57, and 4 months post gastric bypass, and just suddenly started having acne on my face. Primarily on my chin, but cheeks and nose, too. Ugh! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  9. So my nutritionist recommends 1500 mg a day of Calcium citrate but the group's PA says 1000 is fine. I've been taking 1000, but now I'm wondering if 1500 would be better....what are you taking? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  10. I started walking immediately, and began working out at a gym with a personal Trainer at about 2.5 months post bypass. I workout for 3-4 hours a week. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Your complications

I agree! Focus on being mentally prepared, being positive, and finding the right surgeon. Extremely rare to have to go "back under the knife." You've got this! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Body Twins

I would share my "before " photo, but don't know how to post it here. I have not had any photos taken in a long time, so I don't have a current one. I look nothing like my "before" photo! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Gastric bypass or sleeve

If you don't mind my asking...what's so awful about taking a vitamin every day? They make bariatric chewables that aren't bad. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Oh, my goodness! We're almost twins. I'm 5'3" and started a year ago at 246. I was about 230 day of surgery, 4 months ago. I'm now 177. I was an apple shape before. Not really sure what I am now! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  20. Thanks for the update. I'm going to ask for the liquid Zoloft, too. I hope you get the dosage straightened out. My only hesitation is that I currently take an SNRI, Effexor, and Zoloft is an SSRI. So, I wonder how the difference in brain chemicals will affect me. 21. Yes. My psychiatrist did not want me to have bariatric surgery. I did anyway. And she is very professional and still supports my decision. After all it was my decision! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Tummy pain

You're very newly out of surgery. Of course trying to stomach things other than liquids will hurt! Please try to be patient with your new anatomy and with yourself. I promise it will get better! Cost of surgery -- WOW

How is it a "rip off"? These surgeries are life-changing procedures. Yeah, they charge the insurance companies a lot of money. But you can't deny the surgeries are worth every penny. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Cost of surgery -- WOW

My insurance company was billed roughly $50,000 for the surgeon's fee, anesthesia, and hospital, but they only paid a portion of that. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
