    Lightheaded

Yup. Lightheaded when I get up. I have low blood pressure and low pulse. Make sure you're not dehydrated, and you may want to check your blood pressure. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  2. Thanks, all, for the encouragement! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. Just calories. Protein has stayed the same. Added in avocado as a healthy fat, and a few more carbs. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  4. Thanks, JessLess! I do feel healthy! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. Great thread. Following! I've lost 86 pounds so far. 57 years old. Things are pretty saggy!! Interested in seeing if my body firms up any, but I doubt it. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Hey everybody

Just want to say, "hello", and let you know there are people out here in cyberspace who care! I'm sorry you're struggling. Your body has been through a lot, and it's hard being a single parent. Try and take things one hour at a time, then get through the next hour. Be patient with yourself and the tidiness of your home. Going for a walk is a great idea when you're down. Things will get better! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  7. Hi, there! I'm 57 and had my RNY on March 27, 2019. I am 5' 3.5" and started at about 230 or so. High weight was 246. I'm now 158. I recently increased my calories and the weight loss accelerated. Go figure! I was eating no more than 800 calories for months. I know you didn't ask about calories, but wanted to motivate you to eat more when you can. Congratulations on your surgery and best to you!!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  8. I've posted about this in the past, so you may want to do a search, but the answer is, yes, you may indeed have problems absorbing antidepressants. I did. At first we switched from extended release Effexor to immediate release and it wirked for a few months. Suddenly I started experiencing withdrawal symptoms and realized I was not absorbing the Effexor. Switched to liquid Prozac and it seems to be absorbing well. I had bypass. 9. My bp averages about 97/60 and pulse 55. Never thought it would be so low! I do get lightheaded at times, and struggle to dring 64 oz a day. Doctor is aware and keeping an eye on it. I do eat salty foods to help keep it up! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

3 Ways to Break Through a Plateau

Hi. At 8 months out, you probably know what to eat and how much!! I have sympathy though, because I just went through a one month stall of gaining and losing the same pound. It finally passed, and I have started losing again, but it can be so discouraging. Can we gave some more details? Are you exercising? What and how much? Are you drinking at least 64 ounces of liquid a day? Are your carbs creeping up? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Inability to regulate temperature/Hot flashes?

I had my last period at age 47, and was in perimenopause for many years prior to that. When I had hot flashes they came about once an hour starting in my chest, up to my face, but whole body felt hot. It does sound like you're going thru something hormonal, and should get some bloodwork done. Weight loss definitely adds to the fluctuations in hormones, as they're released from the fat cells. Protien shakes make me nauseous

I don't use water to make the protein shakes from powder, but use unsweetened vanilla almond milk. Makes it taste better and 30 calories. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    The Beginning of my Journey

Hello, and welcome! I did not work on losing weight prior to consultation. I also had a 6 month supervised diet and nutrition period. I was in the hospital 2 nights but had gastric bypass. Yes, the support group meetings were helpful. Good luck as you embark on this exciting journey! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Heart rate

Mine was high in the hospital from dehydration even though I was on an IV! When they gave me a large volume of liquid my heart rate went down. Now, 6 months post bypass, my heart rate is slow!! Averages 55. Go figure! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. I was told not to bring my machine, but yes, to bring the hose, mask, and headgear. The hospital provided the machine through their respiratory therapy department. I don't think it has anything to do with the type of surgery you're having. It's for nighttime! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  17. Are you in pain? Feeling overly full even when not eating much? I had severe strictures and ulcers after my bypass. Couldnt keep food down either. You should get checked for a stricture. Keep us posted! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Low Vitamin A?

This kind of goes along with my post about low protein. More lab results came back today, and I am also deficient in vitamin A. I am waiting to hear from the surgeon about this, but imagine I will need a prescription vitamin A supplement. Any one else deficient in vitamin A? I do take a high quality bariatric multivitamin twice a day. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  19. So, I was diagnosed with a stricture and I can barely function because I feel like I am going to throw up at any minute. I'm having trouble tolerating liguids and I don't want to get dehydrated. Even when I sip slowly I have terrible pressure in my pouch and throat. Any tips to make this easier until I have my dilation procedure? Thanks. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  20. Hi! I had 6 dilations, and the surgeon said I was the worst case he had ever seen! I am 6 months post bypass, and still not on a full "normal " diet, but I'm fine with that. I eat mostly soft and ground foods. I had a very scary, horrible incident of food stuck in my anastomosis this week and almost went to the ER, but after 4 hours it cleared itself. All and all, I'm doing well. Thanks for asking!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    The Maintenance Thread

Happy Birthday, FluffyChix!!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. Ok, so I can't figure out if I should go to the ER or suck it up til morning and call my surgeon. I am pretty sure I wolfed down some chicken without chewing thoroughly and it has been 2.5 hours. I can't keep liquids down, I'm in so much pain, and keep spitting up foam. What should I do to get through the night? Things are not getting better! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  23. Congratulations on your progress! I know the feeling. I tend to have body dysmorphia and although I've lost 81 pounds since my high weight, when I look in the mirror I look fat to me! As your clothes get loose you'll feel better. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  24. Thank you all for your advice! As I was hemming and hawing about going to the ER, and after 4 hours of agonizing pain and frothy spit, I suddenly felt way better as the food worked its way out! Ugh. What an awful experience! Do you think I stretched out my anastomosis permanently? Or should I be fine? I really need to remember to chew, chew, chew, and maybe avoid chicken unless it's ground!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  25. Thank you all! I tried a little liquid and it came right back up! I will check of the surgeon has someone on call. What a rough lesson to learn the hard way!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
