I was asking about that because I recently took Dayquil and swesr that one of the pills got stuck in the opening between my pouch and intestines! I had pain for about an hour. I'm going to stick to liquid Nyquil. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Are you considering the Nyquil liquid or huge pills?? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Yes, I had that happen about that time. I would eat or drink one bite or a mouthful of liquid and feel like I had eaten a pizza, and vomit! I had a very severe stricture. Not to scare you, but that was my experience. Can you keep food and liquids down? Are you in pain? If you're not in pain, don't have trouble swallowing, and can keep food and liquids down you probably do not have a stricture. Whatever it is, I hope the full feeling gets better for you!! I have degeneration in my neck and just had 4 injections into my facet joints on Tuesday. It's still early, but I'm feeling much better! Maybe your surgeon can do that for you. Good luck! I also have bulging disks at C5-6 and C6-7. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Hey, FluffySaysForkIt! Thanks so much for your post, and the tips for doing dip nails! I think I feel confident now to try it myself!! I'll be more gentle on my nails than they would be at a salon, and for sure save money! Does the polish stay for 10 days, too? Or do you have to repolish frequently? I always thought the colored powder was what you wanted for the color. I never thoughr about doing clear and then painting them. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Do you do it yourself? Or go to a nail salon? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Worrisome, but not unexpected. The trauma of surgery and rapid weight loss, sometimes protein insufficiency cause it. I too am suffering hair loss. The best thing I did was to stop washing my hair every day. Went to every other day, and now 2 times a week. I thought it would look dirty, but I guess the hair follicles get used it it, and it doesn't look greasy at all. I can't take extra biotin as it makes me breakout. 11 weeks post op still can't eat much
Briswife15 replied to boopatches's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Are the veggies well cooked, or are you trying to eat them raw? Poultry dry? That'll hurt. I'm 7 months post bypass and still pretty much on soft food! My advice is to chew really really well, and use something to "lube" the meat. Cook veghies well, and take small bites. Good luck. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Doctor's scales always weigh heavier because you've usually got clothes on, and they don't weigh you at the same time of day. I really would not worry too much! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Weight loss journey
Briswife15 replied to Felicia Leader's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, all I can say is that bariatric surgery was the right decision for me. I am no longer diabetic! No longer have high blood pressure! Can walk up stairs without dying, and feel so much better. My weight loss is not fast, but I have lost 90 pounds since my high weight, and 73 pounds since surgery. I still have a ways to go, but it's progress! Good luck to you!! Hi, K. Lee, and welcome. Do lots of reading and educate yourself. I chose bypass because I had GERD, and I know I'm crazy, but I'm a recovering sugar addict, and wanted the fear of dumping that comes with bypass!! I'm very happy with my choice. Diabetes is gone, high blood pressure gone, knees feel better, etc. Of course the same would hold true if I'd had the sleeve, I'm just happy I had bariatric surgery!! Anybody NOT need an endoscopy before WLS?
Briswife15 replied to Aodhanmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not have an endoscopy before RNY, but already had documented GERD. An endoscopy wouldn't have told them anything they didn't already know. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
carbonated drinks?
Briswife15 replied to MariahS0105's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like AggiG says, my surgeon says no more carbonation after surgery, but YMMV. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Should I be worried or glad about really rapid weight loss?
Briswife15 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I hate to ask this question because it seems so crazy, but...I am 6 months post gastric bypass and had been losing at what seemed a "normal" rate. Then I upped my calories to 1000 to 1100 a day and now I'm losing really fast. I've lost over 8 pounds in a week. I know that mathematically it is impossible to burn 3500 calories a day, so how and why am I losing weight so fast?? Should I be worried, or enjoy it? My first post and First appointment with Bariatric Center.
Briswife15 replied to PatrickMaloney's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, and welcome! As others have suggested read all you can, and ultimately trust your team. Good luck, both surgeries are a God-send in my opinion! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Blood pressure 71/49
Briswife15 replied to Lynda486's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, mine runs around 95/60, so not as low as yours. I used to have HBP prior to surgery. I'd call your primary care provider. Good luck, and keep us posted! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
I take benefiber and ducolax twice a day to prevent severe constipation. I know how miserable it can be! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Thanks so much for that suggestion! I had wondered about that process. I'll have to check it out![emoji4] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

My surgeon said CAFFEINE is FINE :)
Briswife15 replied to New&Improved's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Carbonated beverages are not allowed by my surgeon post surgery. You all may want to run soda by your surgeons! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Thanks, ladies!! If I try gel nails, and mine are already paper thin and peeling, will it damage them more?? I'd like to try the gel, but am apprehensive. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Weight coming off too slow
Briswife15 replied to gborofoodie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You're doing great! Don't worry. When have you ever lost a pound a day for 2 weeks?! Don't compare yourself to others, it is just not fair, and will mess with your head. Keep up the good work! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Protein shakes besides Bariatric advantage that you like?
Briswife15 replied to BQT's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I like Syntrax Nectar powder, Unjury powder, both mixed with unsweetened vanilla almond milk. For ready to drink shakes I like Ensure Max Protein chocolate flavor. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
I've had lowfat cream cheese, about a tablespoon, and other low fat dairy products with no problem. I had gastric bypass. You could also substitute non fat plain Greek yogurt. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Monthly loss amount
Briswife15 replied to Morgan80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I personally find it really toxic to compare my weight loss to others on this forum because we're all so different. I just get discouraged! That being said I'm losing about 10 pounds a month and am 6.5 months post gastric bypass. My team is pleased with my progress. Don't worry too much, just exercise and follow your team's plan for you, and you'll do fine. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
