Aetna and Tests/History Required - Need Your Best Advice
Briswife15 replied to CelticBeautyEvolving's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Anthem BCBS, and was also required to have documentation that I had tried numerous different weight loss plans, over many years, with no success. I think If you have your 3 visits in April, May, and June you should be all set to have your surgery before August 31st. Wishing you all the best. That's great you got to start purees! My rib pain is gone as of today. So relieved! How's yours?? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Starting yesterday afternoon I have had a burning feeling where I think my new pouch is. I take a PPI in the morning, but this kinda feels like heartburn, which I had prior to my bypass. I'm wondering what a small leak would feel like. Also, what else could be causing this pain? I have had no nausea, no vomiting, and am making all my fluid and protein goals. I will call my surgeon's office in the morning, just wonder if anyone else has had pain in their pouch? Thanks! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

I can't wait until I can do that, too! Being morbidly obese and trying to tie shoes is a nightmare!! Congratulations!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

How soon post surgery did you have a BM?
Briswife15 replied to Briswife15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm feeling more normal!! Thanks, folks! Hoping the Miralax works. I'm afraid to take a full dose because I'm only on day 7 post op, and don't know if my pouch can handle it. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Can chewy calcium get stuck 3 days post surgery?

Can chewy calcium get stuck 3 days post surgery?
Briswife15 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 days out from gastric bypass. I started my chewable multivitamin because surgeon said to as long as I wasn't nauseous. However, my calcium is the Bariatric Advantage chewy bites, and I'm afraid they'll get stuck at the bottom of my pouch where the opening to my intestines is. Should I wait until I'm on solid food to take my calcium? Thanks!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Well, I gained 10 pounda of water weight in the hospital, so most of this week was shedding that. From surgery day to today, 7 days, I have lost 4 pounds. I actually expect that to go up a little next week. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

What meds can I take post op?!
Briswife15 replied to jazzyj13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can take TYLENOL. That's it. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Hmmm.. have you had Glucerna shakes prior to this? If so, have you had the gassiness before? My first thought is that there may be lactose in the shakes upsetting your system. As for the peeing a lot, are you also drinking upwards of 80 oz of fluid a day? I'm always in the bathroon, but drink 100 oz a day. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

BMI OF 31 AND 35 LB TO LOSE. IS IT WORTH IT?
Briswife15 replied to nssmia's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Something caught my eye about your post...you have GERD, and there is a real possibility that the sleve surgery would make your GERD a lot worse. Do some looking around on this forum and you will find those having sleeve to RNY revision due to severe GERD. So, based on how little you have to lose, and your preexisting condition, My opinion is that you shouldn't have the sleeve surgery. Keep trying through diet modification and exercise. Good luck to you! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Clear liquids 2 days prior to operation
Briswife15 replied to Tada69's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a wimp, but I took the day off work when I was on only clears and no shakes, but it was only one day. I found that the less I moved around the less calories I needed, and I felt better. I took naps. Drank clear veg broth. It went by fast, and I was less hungry than during the liver shrinking diet. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Ok. Take a deep breath. Would you have been able to lose 100 pounds on your own? You've done great losing that weight and should not be so hard on yourself!! I don't know where you started, but my group's definition of a successful surgery is losing 60% of your excess weight. Not everyone loses 100 % of their excess weight. I think you should be proud of your accomplishments!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Hi. She didn't say anything about the pain, but when I spoke to my surgeon's office the nurse was concerned. She said to give it til Thursday to start getting better. And if it doesn't, I'm to call their office. She asked if I was short of breath, which I'm not. How are you doing? Any better? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Post op, swelling and large weight gain
Briswife15 replied to kstein01's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi! I hear ya! Had RNY last Wednesday and gained 10 pounds of fluid in the hospital! I have just about gotten down to my surgery weight. I have a severe pain on the left side under my ribcage that really hurts when I breathe. However, I'm doing better than I expected, am hitting 90 ounces of fluids a day, taking vitamins, and trying to walk every day. I'm pretty excited I had it done, too! Briswife15 replied to Alikiinz's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Why did you stop? How far out are you? My surgeon just put me on Pantoprazole and I don't plan on stopping it as that can cause rebound reflux. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Yup. I'm 5 days post op and have exactly the same pain in the same place!! It is the worst of all my areas of pain. Im going to see my GP today for another reason and will ask about it. Feel better! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
