Yes, I have a very severe stricture. I just had an endoscopy on Tuesday to try to start the stretching process. The opening is so narrow it was the size of a pin hole! Hope you don't have one!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Stricture- How do you deal with the awful feeling you're going to throw up?
Briswife15 replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I'm sure you don't look like road kill!! LOL! Thanks for your report. I hope you will not need surgery after your next endoscopy in June/July. So you can progress to soft food now? My next endoscopy is May 17th. 2 weeks from tomorrow. I have to stay on full liquids until after that. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Baby food on pureed stage

That's good! Do you eat meat and veggies, or mainly the fruit ones? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Baby food on pureed stage
Briswife15 replied to VeeAurora's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll have to get your protein from shakes and supplement with baby food. I don't think we give up protein shakes at the puree stage. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Baby food on pureed stage
Briswife15 replied to VeeAurora's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I imagine it tastes pretty nasty. There are plenty of things for adults you can eat on the puree stage, such as refried beans, cottage cheese, yogurt, cream of rice or wheat, etc. I wouldn't waste my money on baby food, but that's just me!! I love ricotta with marinara sauce. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
They may, but it's not a big deal. The incisions are really small. Your muscles don't feel sore afterwards. Im 5 weeks out from my RNY gastric bypass and muscles are fine. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Stricture- How do you deal with the awful feeling you're going to throw up?
Briswife15 replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Ellf, what does your surgeon say? With an upper GI test they can see a stricture quite clearly. Are you in pain? Do you have pressure in your chest where your pouch is? You shouldn't wait, but consult your surgeon. My dilation was an emergency because I couldn't even handle fluids. The stricture was so severe it was as narrow as a pin hole!! So, I'm 5 weeks out, and due to a stricture I am only consuming water and protein shakes. Surgeon's office just called and said I could progress to full liquids, but I forgot to ask what they meant. Is that the same as purees? I'm all confused!! LOL Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

What are "full liquids " on your plan?
Briswife15 replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks, Mrs. Gamgee! I thought so, but then again I thought those could be considered purees! I have to be so careful not to irritate my stricture I'm afraid to eat anything!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
What was your comorbidity(s)?
Briswife15 replied to Goal_Digger's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My comorbidities were type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and sleep apnea. My BMI was over 40, so I qualified without any comorbidities, but I had them. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Hi, Tracy725. I just had an endoscopy for my stricture, which is severe, and it was all ulcerated as well. I had RNY gastric bypass a month ago. There are early and late strictures. Early usually happen 3-4 weeks post surgery. My symptoms are tremendous pressure in my pouch, and a feeling like I need to throw up, and a feeling like I ate an entire pizza, along with severe reflux. I couldn't tolerate purees or liquids. The opening from my pouch to my small intestine was only as wide as a pin. No wonder nothing was getting through! I hope you don't have a stricture or an ulcer!! Suitable pain meds
Briswife15 replied to Kahkeetsee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Diclofenac cream on my knees and Tylenol. My surgeon doesn't allow ibuprofen for his RNY patients. Don't know about his sleeve patients, but I seriously doubt he allows it for sleeves either. I know how debilitating knee arthritis is. You've got my sympathy! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Do you buy your zoodles, or spiralize them yourself? If so, what machine or gizmo do you use to make them? A container at Stop & Shop where I live is $5.00. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Stomach spasms, newly sleeved

Try warmer liquids. I couldn't do sugar free popsicles or cold drinks as they caused spasms. Good luck. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Stricture- How do you deal with the awful feeling you're going to throw up?
Briswife15 replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks, Steven1954! Was that when they diagnosed your stricture, ir afterwards? They think the inflammation from the stricture was causing the foamies. Hope it doesn't happen every time I have the dilation. Not fun. Hope I don't need a stent either. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Ugh. So sorry LastMinuteLouise left you without a ride to your appointment. At least you can go tomorrow and don't have to wait too long. My surgeon says we'll try a second dilation in 7-10 days. It was a long day! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Well, I had my endoscopy with supposed dilation today, but the opening was as narrow as a pin, and he could only get a wire in there, no balloon. Will have to have several more little dilations. Spent 5 hours on recovery vomiting up foamies so bad. They had to try 3 different anti nausea medications to get me to stop vomiting. The anastomosis was completely ulcerated. Ugh! They think I have a stricture
Briswife15 replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I think it is the balloon dilation they have to be careful with. Could damage my healing pouch. We'll see today how it goes! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
I'm just 4 weeks post surgery and having loads of pouch pressure and nausea. Can no longer tolerate liquids or purees. Unfortunately they can't do an endoscopy because my pouch is still healing. Guess they have to wait 6 to 8 weeks post surgery to do an endoscopy so they sent me to have some sort of barium study. Waiting at the hospital now. Does anyone know if a stricture will show up on a barium test? What can they do for a stricture if they can't do an endoscopy? Do I just have to suffer for another month? Ugh!
