Hormone increase and too much energy? Anybody? (Women)
Briswife15 replied to 70worm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To me this sounds exactly like Bipolar Disorder (coming from someone who has it). Maybe this is a mental health issue?? Nothing to be ashamed of, just requires professional help. Good luck to both of you! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Bipolar help! People gone through surgery?
Briswife15 replied to _kimGA_'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have bipolar disorder 1 and recently had RNY. My bipolar was discussed with surgeon and psychiatrist. Psych did not want me to have surgery, but my team's psychiatrist cleared me for surgery. Surgeon was concerned about malabsorption of meds post surgery, but I'm fine. Any questions I can answer for you?? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Help! chest pain after eating (4 ypo)
Briswife15 replied to KanoodleBug's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Well, I'm not a doctor, nor do I play one on TV, and I'm only 6 weeks post op, but I do have a serious stricture and also have pain in the center of my chest, alond with nause and difficulty swallowing. It may be unusual to have a stricture 4 years out, but you never know. Find a bariatric surgeon to check you out. Hope you feel better soon and hope it is not a stricture. Could also be an ulcer. Do you take NSAIDS? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
No, but I Do take Miralax daily for constipation relief. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Briswife15 replied to Zemi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm only 5.5 weeks post RNY, but I've had no hunger as of yet. I hear it comes back at some point. I'm enjoying it while I can! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Well, I have a marginal ulcer as well as severe stenosis of the stoma. Not sure exactly how rare they are, but I don't smoke, drink or take NSAIDS, and my surgeon is top notch. Just one of those things! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Postmenopausal before surgery...spotting!
Briswife15 replied to Kathy1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I did have an experience like yours, long before I had surgery. I was spotting, and a biopsy and ultrasound. I had endometrial hyperplasia. They ended up scraping out thickened lining, and I have been fine since. Im 57 and went through menopause at 47. No sign of cancer. Hopefully all will go well for you. I know it is hard not to worry. Questions to ask surgeon
Briswife15 replied to annsokos's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on starting your journey! Your surgical group or nutritionist will provide you with a diet plan of what to eat once you're finally on solid foods. There are a couple of great threads on here which have pictures of foods people are eating. One is called before and after. No one can predict how much weight you will lose as many factors come into play including genetics. Just focus on following your surgeon's plan for you, and getting healthy. Constipation Question
Briswife15 replied to TG_is_losing_weight's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I did. I ended up using Miralax in my shake once a day, and stool softeners twice a day until I had a BM. Now I use Miralax once a day. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Excessively long clear liquid phase
Briswife15 replied to Brent701's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks until my follow up appointment. Then full liquids. Then I developed a stricture and I'm 5 weeks out and still on full liquids!! Oh, well. This, too, shall pass! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Clear Liquids @ Hospital--Aspratame in EVERYTHING
Briswife15 replied to giddygiddygiddy's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My first 24 hours in the hospital post surgery was m3ot allowed anything to drink; not even water. The second day in The hospital they brought me broth, sugar free jello, and sugar free lemonade. I'm not sure what artificial sweetener was in them, but they really only care that you drink. You could just drink broth and water and be fine. Good luck with your surgery and recovery! Can't decide sleeve or bypass
Briswife15 replied to 100away's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In my defense, I was not referring to complications, as I have a serious one myself. I was referring to the chances of death, which I consider "dangerous,". I am one of the 20 percent with complications, and have a very severe stricture. I still think the procedure is safe. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Can't decide sleeve or bypass
Briswife15 replied to 100away's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not dangerous at all. They've been doing these surgeries for a long time. I chose bypass because I had reflux/GERD and sometimes the sleeve makes that much worse. I'm 5 weeks out from bypass and despite a setback, am glad I did it. No regrets. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
I should add that I feel better after my first dilation Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Depending on how severe, it can take 1, 2, 3 times or more to try to get the anastomosis to the correct size. Frustr8 and Steven1954 had like 6 dilations. Actually, because of the way sleeves are done compared to RNY gastric bypass, I wasn't aware that sleevers hot strictures! Shows you what I know!! [emoji39] mine is probably going to take at least 3 dilations Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Ps. There are a few other bypassers with strictures too. Frustr8 and Steven1954. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
