Is anyone taking Victoza prior to or post WLS.
Briswife15 replied to Slownstedy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was diabetic type 2, and on Victoza and metformin prior to surgery day. Stopped then, and sugars normalized in a few days. Never went back. No longer diabetic!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Weird insurance question?
Briswife15 replied to RainbowBrite57's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have Anthem BCBS and It had to be 30 days apart or a few days more, and you can't miss one appointment or you have to statt all over! Ah, the hoops we jump through for insurance approval!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

When I had my bypass 9 months ago I just told everyone I was having surgery and did not elaborate. Mo one asked what kind! I wad out of work for 4 weeks. The weight came off pretty quickly, but if anyone suspected bariatric surgery they didn't say so. I don't think you have to give details! Best wishes. Supplement’s and strengths needed for post menopausal gastric bypass patients
Briswife15 replied to polishanita's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I had my surgery at 57, also post menopausal, and I just take the supplements recommended by my bariatric team. Nothing extra needed because we're post menopausal. I take Bariatric Advantage multi twice a day, 500 mg calcium with D twice a day, and extra beta carotene because I'm deficient in Vitamin A. There is iron in my multi. I also take 1000 micrograms B12 every other day. Most folks take B12 daily, but my levels are high. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Midodrine for Orthostatic hypotension, side effects?
Briswife15 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
So, after lots of investigation, my heart is fine, and I have orthostatic hypotension. Doctor is suggesting Midodrine as a treatment. For those of you who take it, are there any noticeable side effects? I'm hesitant to take it, and wonder if I can just learn to live with the OH. Thanks! Midodrine for Orthostatic hypotension, side effects?

Thanks, mousecat88. Glad you're doing better on the med. Do you know why you get orthostatic hypotension? Is it from rapid weight loss? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

I'm so upset, I'm a slow loser
Briswife15 replied to Panda333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lose about 10 pounds a month at the most. Be patient, and go easy on yourself. It'll happen! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
I think second thoughts are normal and expected at some stage preop. How much do you need to lose? 30 pounds is a terrific start. It is really hard but not impossible to lose a significant amount of weight and keep it off without surgery. I'd like to encourage you to keep going and not have cold feet. I have lost 101 pounds toral, and about 85 pounds in 9 months post bypass. I am cured of diabetes and high blood pressure and can do many things I was too heavy to do before. This is the best decision I ever made! Best wishes to you! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Update on picking goal weight
Briswife15 replied to Briswife15's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Thanks, all! I'm pleased that I can tell psych I'm not underweight, yes, she really thinks so! And pleased that 130 isn't outrageous to the bariatric team. Just taking it slow and steady now, and following the plan. Appreciate all the feedback! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Update on my goal weight and current weight. Saw my bariatric team this week and I am not underweight! They told me to tell psychiatrist not to worry. 8 pounds from their goal for me, and more like 15 pounds from my goal. Which they did not disagree with. I was 148 on doctor's scale, fully clothed. Picking a goal weight...Psychiatrist worried
Briswife15 posted a topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Hi, y'all! At the end of December I will be 9 months pist Gastric Bypass. I have gone from a high of 246 to 147, 99 pounds lost. However, I am still a few pounds shy of "normal" weight. I an 5'4" and medium boned. My goal all along was to stay between 120-125, so I think I still have a ways to go. Saw my psychiatrist yesterday, and she says she's terribly worried that I'm losing too much weight and heading for an eating disorder. I have a history of Anorexia, but am definitely not restricting my food intake. How do you decide when you're at goal, and what yo do about my psychiatrist? I see bariatric PA in 2 weeks. Thanks! Hypoglycemia after surgery???
Briswife15 replied to Mary_Berry_213's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes! I developed low blood sugar about a week after my RNY. Was told to drink a protein shake when it got too low, because we shouldn't have sugar. It leveled out. I had been diabetic before bypass, so this was a surprise! I eat every 3 hours, too. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

2 Weeks Post-Op - Depressed, Discouraged
Briswife15 replied to clairegabr's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi, Claire! Hugs to you. Please don't feel overwhelmed and depressed. Your body just went through makor surgery and some folks get depressed as an after effect of general anesthesia. Give your body time to adjust. Youre doing great. I'm almost 9 months post bypass and have lost 101 pounds form my highest pre surgery weight. If I can do it, you can too! Slow and steady wins the race. Not a sprint. Chin up and keep up the good work. You're awesome! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Wishing you all the best! I'm sure you will look terrific in time for tank tops next summer! Hoping you have a speedy recovery with minimal pain. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
