Waiting period for insurance... is this the norm with most?
Briswife15 replied to MysticHippie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yup. I have Anthem BCBS and had to do 6 monthly nutrition sessions, along with a psych evaluation. From when I first had my consultation with surgeon to the day of surgery it was 10 months. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
What to do about the GAS!?

Lol! I can do that at home, but not at work or church!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Quick background. Im 2 months post gastric bypass, and have been on protein shakes only this whole time due to a stricture. I'm just starting to have pureed foods. I blended up some homemade vegetable soup, which included broccoli, and took 2 Beano pills, but boy, the volume of gas is tremendous! Everything I try to eat gives me gas. Any suggestions? I have severe arthritis in my knees, and arthritis in my hands and back, and I just had gastric bypass 2 months ago. I know I will never be able to take NSAIDS again. I had cortisone injections in noth knees, which helped tremendously. I also use Diclofenac cream, and there may be meds you can take which don't irritate the pouch lining. I thought long and hard about surgery because I'd be giving up my meds. Losing weight has helped my joints. It is good you're thinking about this now. Good luck with whatever you choose. Jumping in here. CBD isnt like THC, the chemical in marijuana that gets you high. I'm not sure they could fire you for taking CBD, but you know best. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

The best advice I heard was to be patient with your body and the weight loss, and follow your plan as provided by your medical team. Good luck, you got this!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Bariatric surgery was a big mistake
Briswife15 replied to Alvinchicago's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
On the subject of possible trolls, it is curious that OP's screen name is Alvinchicago, which sounds like a male, yet she refers to herself as a woman. I'm not convinced this post is real... Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -

Revision to RNY
Briswife15 replied to Sam.is.sassy's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I hear the weight loss is slower, but I have not had a revision. There are tons of posts on here asking about revision. Have a look around and you'll probably find your answers. Good luck. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
I've never heard of a mammogram being required prior to surgery, but all surgeons are different. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Gastric Bypass stomach ache
Briswife15 replied to glenncol's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you weighing and measuring everything you eat and staying within the required volume you're allowed to have? Perhaps you are just eating too much of the purees. Try limiting them to 1/4 cup and see how that goes. Then increase if you're allowed to. Good luck. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Obsessing about weight loss/ or lack thereof and adjusting after surgery
Briswife15 replied to Tiffany L.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you are following your team's plan for you for food amounts and stages you'll be just fine. I gained weight, 10 pounds, from the IVs in the hospital, so it took me a week to lose the water weight. At 10 days out I was still on protein shakes only, no food, so I don't know about that. I would measure and weigh everything, and only eat the amount you're allowed to eat. Good luck. Mental Evaluation
Briswife15 replied to debra102364's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I have Bipolar disorder type 1, and a past history of anorexia, so I was very worried as well about not getting approved. It went very well, and I wad approved. All the psychiatrist wanted to know was if I was stable on my meds. (I was, and I never had any manic episodes), and if I had support for after the surgery. I was completely honest with her, and it went fine. Best of luck to you! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app -
Anyone have experience with needing to be dilated after gastric bypass?
Briswife15 replied to Taranurse 1's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Yes! I have a stricture and have been dilated 4 times. Once a week for 4 weeks, the most recent was this past Friday. Now we wait 4 weeks before the next one to see how it is healing. I feel so much better now than I did. My surgeon also mentioned redoing the connection, but now I think he won't have to. Pm me if you want, and best wishes to you. Hi, and welcome! What are their requirements for BMI and comorbidities? What is your BMI? What does your surgeon's team say about the likelihood of getting approved?? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Highmark BCBS TN insurance approval
Briswife15 replied to SlimChickadee's topic in Insurance & Financing
I know you're afraid of a negative answer from them, but the best thing is to just call your insurance company and get all your questions answered. Good luck. You can do it!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
