    Too Much Protein?

I was getting 90-120 gms on the days I workout, in part because I'm not absorbing protein well. Low blood levels of protein. My weight loss slowed to a crawl. So I decided I was consuming too much protein. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  3. Yes, I got one from Lauren's Hope. Great company with lots of choices. Says Gastric Bypass, no sugars. NSAIDS, or blind ng tube. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

Hello. Are you sure it is hunger and not an acidy feeling in your pouch? Are you on a proton pump inhibitor? Liquids won't fill you up. Once you can have things like yogurt you will feel better. Please try not to be depressed. You only just had surgery. You need to give your body time to heal. Hood times are ahead. I promise! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Sleep apnea and surgery

In my experience it takes a while, and weight loss to get off the CPAP machine. I'm 4 months post surgery, have lost 50 pounds, and the sleep doctor wants me to retake the sleep study when I reach goal weight, which is another 50 pounds. Does your insurance pay for the machine and supplies? Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  9. I'm 5'3", and used the BMI chart to pick something in the middle of the healthy range for my height - 120 to 125. My doctor's goal for me is a little bit higher, at the very limit of healthy. Now, Im only 4 months out, so we'll have to see how it goes! [emoji4] Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    No weight loss

Wait, what? You're only drinking 50 mls of water a day? I would say 2000 ml is a conservative minimum. Maybe I misunderstood your post. I don't think you're necessarily doing anything wrong except you need more water. Just keep working the program and keep your eyes on the prize. Everyone goes through stalls, and I mean everyone!. Post-Op Depression

Do you see a therapist? Are uou on any medication? The struggle post op is real! I can't really offer any suggestions, but exercise and meds help me. Also losing weight makes me feel more upbeat and confident and gives me the drive to stick with it. Hang in there. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  15. Thank you for your post, and for sharing what meds you take. Is the Zoloft concentrate just once a day? I'm taking Effexor, not XR, but because of the short half life I have to take it 3 times a day, which is a pain!! Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  16. I can eat any fruit post RNY as long as I keep it to 5 gms of sugar or less. I just eat small portions. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Vitamins!!

I use Bariatric Advantage brand. I used them pre-surgery as well. They are expensive but to me it's worth it to have something designed for bariatric patients. Some folks save money by taking Flintstones vitamins 2 times a day. Whatever you do, don't take gummies as they don't provide enough vitamins, at least thats what mu surgeon says. 18. Did you and your surgeon ever consider gastric bypass? I think it is possible to develop GERD after sleeve. Bypasd totally eliminated my diabetes and I have halved my high blood pressure medication. I expect to be off that medication soon. I don't believe GERD increases after bypass because there is almost no stomach acid in the pouch, and bypass is a low pressure system, while sleeve is high pressure. I certainly Don't mean to confuse you further. I just wanted to give you an idea of my success with bypass if you hadn't considered it. Of course the decision is totally between you and your surgeon, and I'm sure many people have the sleeve and Don't develop GERD. Good luck with your surgery! New here

You're welcome! You can always pm me (private message) if you want to. The calorie requirements will vary from person to person, activity levels, etc so it's hard to say. As a rough guess. I would think 2000 was too much. You can always try a "pouch reset" where you go back to eating like the early days post surgery and progress thru the stages. Do a search on the app. There are lots of posts on pouch resets. 1500 is probably too much as well if you want to be losing, especially if you're not super active. That sounds more like maintenance. I'm only 4 months post gastric bypass but I don't eat more than 800 calories, even on days where I workout hard at the gym. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  21. Thanks for that, froufrou! Im glad I'm not the only one! That was an interesting read. And my psychiatrist and I did discuss liquid antidepressants. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app
  22. Thanks. GradyCat. My psychiatrist does not have any experience with weight loss surgery and was surprised that my antidepressant stopped working. She and I are learning together by trial and error. Sent from my SM-N960U using BariatricPal mobile app

  24. Thanks, RickM. I didn't mention this to the surgeon yet. But will when I go next week. I did switch from ER to immediate release once I had the bypass, and for the first 4 months all was well. My strange anatomy!! I think you're right. And I should talk to a pharmacist. How does your wife determine if a new med is going to work for her? I don't take any ER meds now. Anthem BCBS Approval Time

I have Anthem BCBS too. Your doc is right. They have a quick turnaround. However, my doctor's office did not send the referral to Anthem the day I finished my 6 months requirement. My doctor's office probably took 10 days to complete the paperwork on their end and forward to Anthem. Hope this helps. And hood good luck!! Hoping it all falls onto place for you.
