No "real" food makes me crazy

I know exactly how you feel, the commercials were really tough!! I guess they still are but they dont bother me as much any more. Liquids are to help your stomach start the healing process. If your stomach has to start digesting food too early the stitches in your stomach wont heal properly. When the stomach is digesting food it actually contracts and moves around, so that is why clear. How much longer are you on clear liquids? I know it feels like it will never pass, but it does. Try to do some kind of hobby that in no way could involve food, like a puzzle or something. For me the computer was a trigger at first too because I used to eat in front of the computer all the time. Anyhoo, good luck and remember that this will all pass!
  4. I have an itchy belly too. For me if I scratch a few inches away from the incision it does enough to stop the itching, that way I dont touch the incision, and remember to keep your hands really clean if you touch your belly and don't touch the incisions themselves!
  5. I hope that you feel a little better. I was told that it is common to gain some weight before a fill because usually we don't have any restriction yet. Were you cleared to move on to mushies or solids yet? I was banded on the 30th and I am still on liquids for another week. If so, remember that even tho it was a poor food choice, we aren't going to be perfect when it comes to food over night. My best friend who is getting banded in September has decided that he will only go out to eat with me for a while after the surgery and I decided that it was a good idea ( aside from my family who will also help me remember to make good choices). That way we can keep each other accountable for our choices, and share plates! Don't beat yourself up too bad, what is done is done.

    I'm just so hungry.

The post op mtg is the second Tuesday of the month in the waiting room, but I just remembered that they said you have to call in advance and put your name down. I think its at 7, I have to check my paper work. They also have a new Wednesday afternoon post op mtg that I think meets at 1 or 2 in the Drs lounge by the cafeteria. I wanted to go to the one this upcoming Tuesday but I have prearranged plans that night so I will try to make the one at the end of the month.
  7. I was given a script for vicodin, and I did fill it, but I never used it. I was told to only use it if I absolutely had to. I was able to just use tylenol and an ice pack. Have you tried tylenol? I was surprised how much it helped with the pain. I am now 8 days post op and I haven't taken tylenol in about 3 or 4 days too. I hope you feel better!

Hi Healthy Sue, My follow up appt is on the 13th. I sure wish that I could move to mushies sooner LOL. My birthday is on the 14th. But its just wishful thinking and I will Celebrate some other way than food. I will look into that protein mix. I got some other stuff from some health food/ vitamin place that I havent tried yet. The guy that works there gave me a discount and said its one of the best sellers and is really good.....I will post if it is. Are you attending the support group this month? Angel

    Caffeine

My nutritionist told me to try to avoid caffeine for precisely the reason that it is a diuretic. She said for each cup of coffee that I drink I need to drink 2 extra cups of Water on top of my 8. Since I am having a hard time drinking my water to begin with, I am pretty much avoiding coffee. I have to say tho that once I was able to have full liquids I had a cup, and it doesn't taste the same to me anymore, so I haven't really craved it. Maybe that will change down the line.

    I'm just so hungry.

I am so glad I came across this thread. I was thinking of posting something simmilar. I was just banded last week, and have to do 2 weeks of full liquids before moving on to mushies. Luckily for me, mushies include crackers! WOO HOO! Unfortunately, I still have a week and a half of liquids. I am mentally obsessed with the idea of a golden brown towne house cracker right now . I know it will be worth it, but for right now, a week and a half is so overwhelming. And as a side note, I had to switch from medifast to muscle milk lite because the smell was just becoming so nauseating to me, I didn't think I could choke down another drink! Thanks so much for posting this, I really needed to come across this tonight!
  11. I was told to wait 5 days to drive. I haven't drove yet, but I think by day 5 I will be fine.

    Banded yesterday

Wow, congrats on feeling so well so soon after!:cursing: I was banded the day before and was not really feeling that well until late this afternoon. I too am greatly looking forward to full liquids, which I start tomorrow.

    Fever? Nose Bleed?

I was told to contact the Dr.s office immediately if I ran a fever....I would call the Dr just to be safe. Hope you feel better.
