    2 weeks out

Salad hadn't bothered me post-surgery. I was able to eat two cups easily. All that changed last night with my third fill. I was supposed to have it last week; but had lost too much weight the week before. This time they added quite a bit of fluid, so I was done with my salad after only a couple bites. The tomatoes went down better, but the mushrooms were a definite NO! Everyone is different. I recommend a salad with chicken or other protein in it. Eat most of the protein towards the beginning of the meal. Your body will tell you when you are done. Also, a little hint; I add non-fat milk to my dressing to thin it out. That way it moistens more of the lettuce and makes it easier to eat without adding extra fat and calories.
  2. Hello, I am also someone who comes out of anesthesia slowly (the hospital almost admitted me after one surgery a few years ago). This was nothing like that at all. I was awake within 15-20 minutes. The anesthesiologist said it is because the drugs are not used for pain purposes with the lapband, so it doesn't take nearly as long to recover. By 7:00 pm that same evening, I attended my son's soccer game. I had to move furniture the next day, so that create a bit of a discomfort for 2 days. The fourth day was tough on me, but once my friends told me to put a heating pad on my tender spot, the pain was gone within minutes. Went back to work five days later without any problems. The afterwards...for the most part I eat whatever I cook for my family; just a lot less of it. Sometimes they forget and cook me a grilled cheese sandwich or something. I thank them for the sweet gesture and politely remind them that they wouldn't want to see my "new" stomach's reaction to eating that type of food. Spaghetti seems to be the only old staple that is no longer on our family's menu, but I did make it once when I knew I wasn't going to be home for dinner. I've even made chicken fettuccine alfredo, but I pass on the Pasta and go really easy on the sauce. I eat so little that it was a nice treat. I am a single mom with two kids; and making it all work out hasn't been that difficult. I have even taught them to "burp" me on the rare occassion that something gets stuck when I'm not being careful. They think it is funny and support me 100%. A co-worker has also had the lapband and chosen to take the weight loss slowly with less restriction. Yes, she has still lost 85 pounds in a year and a half; but she is also still able to enjoy a kid's meal dining out with the family. You control your success. Keep researching....I wish you all the best and keep us all posted. Dani
  3. Hope everyone (nene, jana, etc.) are feeling better. I know I am 100% better today..my mood has definitely improved (much to the delight of my students). This thread seems like the one thing that helped me get through it all. A big thanks!! Lisa
  4. I agree with nene. This thread has been a huge support and great source of relief. Two days ago, I was considering going to the ER from the pain and wondering if I made the biggest of my life. Today, the pain is similar to the sensation you have after suffering from a bad charlie horse (the feelings that are there after the cramp is gone). This is much more tolerable.

Anyone else being banded week of 4/7

I am feeling a thousand times better today!!! The pain is finally starting to leave, and I am hopeful that the swelling starts to go down soon too. As far as getting my Protein in, I followed the advice of a lapband posterer on one of these sites. We are fans of a liquid Protein by Body Choice. Each three ounce serving has 20 grams of protein, no fat, and 80 calories. It works well when you are having difficulty getting other stuff down. The flavor isn't really bad, but I like to mix it with another juice or something else to take it. costco sometimes carries it, but I find it easier to order from their website (no shipping cost). https://bodychoicenutrition.net/index.htm
  6. NeNe, Me too, me too. I was banded on the 8th, and have been crying from the pain the past two days. Regrets are beginning to shine brightly and I know they shouldn't. I know I need to take the pain medicine, but since I am having a hard time even drinking, the thought of that nasty liquid pain reliever makes me debate which is worse. My stomach was swollen again this morning, and I don't know why!!! Hoping this goes away soon...

CinniMae, This probably doesn't make you feel any better, but you are in the exact same situation I am in. I finally dropped the two pounds when I was so miserable yesterday that I only consumed 300 calories. All these people keep posting these amazing weight loss numbers, and here I sit. Are you uncomfortable at all?

Anyone else being banded week of 4/7

I am so jealous of you folks. I finally lost two pounds since my surgery on the 8th. It has been discouraging and the pain yesterday was horrible. Isn't weird that I am discouraged by a 10 pound weight loss in two weeks? Normally, I would have been so happy; but was hoping for more...

Anyone else being banded week of 4/7

My procedure was on 4/8 and I was beginning to get frustrated by the lack of weight loss. Today, I went for a really good walk; but now I am not feeling well. I have had the hiccups (which hurt like crazy), upset stomach (gas that requires a trip to the bathroom), and today nausea set in. The only thing that I have been able to eat is light yogurt. After reading your posts, I am beginning to think that I am dehydrated. :smile2: I go back to work tomorrow, and I am petrified!!!! Two others at work have already been through this, so I hope they are a plethora of information.
