Fills not working?!
innwtitdtity replied to Cassandra_B's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 7/8 as well. I go for my third follow up appt on Tues. I thought this would be a fill appt, but at the last appt the covering surgeon (mine was on vacation) said that I may not need a fill, only if I am not loosing weight. Well, I have lost two pounds, so I am not sure if I will get the fill or not. I guess I will just have to wait and see. -
Females - Surgery questions...
innwtitdtity replied to wannababy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No catheter for me, but I did have my period. I had to wear some glorious mesh panties and a pad. The mesh panties are required in case they need to catheterize you in an emergency. -
Post-Op Eating....
innwtitdtity replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am one month out and started "normal" foods this past week. I have had chicken, steak, pizza (1 piece), salad, and have not had any problems. I was told no bread or celery and I have not tried either because I don't want to put myself in harms way. -
Does anybody NOT throw up?
innwtitdtity replied to ohjuly7878's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today is one month since I was banded and I have not thrown up at all. Actually, I feel the same way you do about throwing up and I use that as incentive to make sure I cut my meat small (use a dice for size), chew my food good (put down my fork between bites) and make sure each bite is small enough. I also stick to my MDs recommendations for diet. Good Luck! -
Congrats! I wish you both a speedy recovery!

Thank you for your post, I am 3 weeks away from my first fill and I have been curious. -
19 days post op and I need a "crunch"
innwtitdtity posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am dying to chew something crunchy and I am on mushies  What can I have to satisfy this craving? -
19 days post op and I need a "crunch"
innwtitdtity replied to innwtitdtity's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
okay, I went grocery shopping today and I was thinking about my crunch craving and I came across kosher baby dill pickles and I bought a jar. What do you think, okay to have while on mushies as long as I chew well? -
19 days post op and I need a "crunch"
innwtitdtity replied to innwtitdtity's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for all of the great suggestions. The saltine soup cracker just might do the trick. All I need is one or two. The graham cracker sounds good too. I want to be careful due to carbs. I have been telling myself that I have made it this far, what is another couple of days? My next f/u appt is still 10 days away (scheduled more than the normal 2 weeks due to MD being on vacation) so I will have a few extra days on mushies, but it actually hasn't been that bad. The food processor has helped greatly. I am not feeling deprived other than the craving to crunch! Thanks again -
low fat cottage cheese had a lot of protein if you like that. You should have 50 grams a day at least. Try mixing sugar free syrups to the protein shakes. Also, keep them to 4 oz so you don't have to drink more ounces of something that does not taste good. I like vanilla unjury in diet rootbeer and strawbery in crystal light lemonade. Good luck.

How much are you eating one week post-op??
innwtitdtity replied to BellaPerdente's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
try protein shakes, those will help with the hunger. I was allowed yogurt and l/f cottage cheese (one 4 oz at a time) post surg and that helped also. The first couple of days due to the swelling that was enough, but then I found I could eat up to 1/2 a cup 3 x a day. The protein shakes really helped curb that hungry feeling. And while I know post op is for healing, I noticed if I drink the protein shake then I would loose weight and if I didn't then I stayed steady and it took longer to loose even a pound. -
Anxiety AFTER surgery?
innwtitdtity replied to Julescincy75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have it after this surgery but I did after another surgery about 6 months ago. I was told it is a side effect of the anesthesia/surgery and my body was reacting to a change. Hang in there, it gets better. -
newly banded - horrible port pain
innwtitdtity replied to wrestlingmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 7/8 and went back to work on 7/14 and I had the same increase in pain/soreness. What really bothered me were the staples. When I went to have them out it was like getting a whole new stomach! What a difference a day made, the following day I had NO pain/soreness at all. This sounds normal, I would recommend taking liquid tylenol every 4 hours to stay ahead of the pain while working. Good Luck. -
feel like I'm having a heart attack!!
innwtitdtity replied to flyaway's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
While I have not had this, I have read other posts on here that sound similar and they did reference eating too much for a period of days. Some people went back to liquids/mushies for a couple of days and it seemed to work for them. Maybe you have stretched the pouch? Good luck and I hope you feel better soon. -
my hubby took me home from the hospital and went to work the next day. I was able to get around on my own. Only limitation was not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. I think your twins could help you out enough.

Need some advice
innwtitdtity replied to shutuplena's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Lana, I have only been banded for a couple of weeks, but maybe getting back to basics might help get you on track. Pull out the information (or request it again from your surgeon/nutritionist) on what you did when you were first banded. Maybe if you do that for a few days it will help get you back on track. Good Luck Funny, we have the same ticker... -
Post-Op & 10 days of Liquids....
innwtitdtity replied to hopea's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today was my 2 week f/u appt. all went well, down 7 lbs since surgery, had staples removed (yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) and on to mushies. I was told I can have scrambled eggs, tuna/chicken/egg salad made in a food processor, cream of wheat/rice, oatmeal, yogurt, apple sauce (s/f), etc. For supper I had a terriaki chicken breast in the processor and summer squash from my garden pureed. It was sooooooo good!!!! -
In desperate need of advice...
innwtitdtity replied to mrsgriffin2u's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the hic cup you are experiencing is probably from drinking too large an amount and not from what you are eating (since it sounds like you aren't eating much). I ahd that for about 5 days until I asked a friend who had had the proc already. What a difference, sip, sip, sip. Good Luck. -
Alcohol (Wine) Post Op???
innwtitdtity replied to ImaGoofball's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 12 days post op I had a glass of red wine and it did effect me a little quicker than it used to. As with most items, moderation is the key. -
Having to sit up to sleep...
innwtitdtity replied to Babysoftly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hmmm, I didn't have that much pain but I am 12 days post op and the staples on my port site are very irritating to my skin. They are red and a little sore. I spoke with my surgeon on Fri and he said to put a warm compress on the area. He said very rarely do these get infected, it is just a reaction to the staples. I am scheduled to have them removed on Monday and I can't wait! Last night was the first night I tried to sleep w/o the pain med and I had an awful night. I only take the pain med at bed time, but still need it. I did go back to work last Monday, so I am sure that was a little quick and has probably contributed to the soreness. Good luck with controling the pain. If you don't want to take pain med during the day, I recommend taking liquid tylenol every four hours to try and stay ahead of the pain getting worse. -

July Bandsters...how much have you lost since surgery??
innwtitdtity replied to MarylandMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 8th weighing 228, came home and weighed 235. Weighed myself today at 224 so technically 4 down since surgery. Minny hic ups and left shoulder pain are driving me crazy today! Total loss 21 since first surgeon appt on 5/21. -
How many incisions do you have?
innwtitdtity replied to zeama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 5 incisions. My surgeon used staples, they are small though. I took the bandages off at 5 days because they were bothering me and now my incisions are itchy and a little sore. Is there anything that can be put on them? Neosporin, etc.? I am going to call Dr. tomorrow, it isn't bad enough to call after hours. -
I was told no ensure either. At least 20 gm per drink and less than 5 gram carbs. I am using Unjury, I like the vanilla, strawberry and chocolate. I was told 50 grams of protein per day. 2 of these drinks = 40 and the other ten I get from l/f cottage cheese, l/f yogurt, etc.

Okay, I was banded on 7/8 and had the normal gas in my shoulder/chest area. Today I feel like the gas is more so in my belly. I have been taking gas-x strips and gas x chewables and walking, but it isn't getting much better. I think I will call my surgeon in the am to see if there is a script that might work better. Please share what worked best for you. Thanks
