  1. Well since you are preop I would think it would be up to you unless you are on your preop diet to shrink your liver in which case it is not allowed. In my understanding, alcohol affects post op BS patients differently and it is important to be really careful until you know how it affects you. I have heard of some people developing alcoholism after BS. I personally have drank alcohol in moderation since age 18 and continue to do so and I have not encountered any problems with it.

Leaving My Dogs While on Vacation

We have had to leave our beloved mini Schnauzer a few times when we take a cruise or a motorcycle trip. The longest we have been gone so far is 10 days. Our friend who owns and operates the kennel literally sends us a text update with a picture or short movie of Bella every day. She loves it there which makes it easier but I do miss her very much. The first time I took her I burst into tears as I was leaving so my husband takes her now. I don't know if you are familiar with The Dog Whisperer (Cesar Millan) but he states that dogs do not really have a concept of time and one day or ten days is the same for them. She is always super excited for about 5 minutes then back to normal so I hope he is right. She also gets super excited when I come home from the grocery store...

  6. Wait... did you just dox someone for disagreeing with you? That’s kind of an internet no-no and a bit creepy. If the shoe fits.....it is probably ugly....😂😂😂😂
  7. Is that why so many "folks" are responding? We are all familiar with your message, no need to repeat it daily. You are embarrassing yourself. Just do you and the rest of us "folks" will be fine. Are they the same "folks" you called losers with no lives a couple of months back when you decided to "leave"?
  8. Well keep your protein intake at that level and be done with it.

    Reputation scores are misleading

What seems negative for one reader may be helpful or positive for someone else. It is unrealistic to think someone is going to monitor each post to determine if the author was being positive or negative. My suggestion is to stay away from certain threads/people if they upset you. And, if you are going to call out others then you should develop a thicker skin or keep your negative comments to yourself. Not everyone can emotionally handle interacting with complete strangers, on the internet or in real life. I read and participate on here as a form of entertainment and to receive education but I certainly don't feel any need to have someone hold my hand and protect me.
  10. Because medications are all calculated using metrics (mg/kg) I use them a lot and I find it easier to work with grams and milliliters when calculating macros in small amounts of food in large containers. My scale has both but I rarely use ounces unless I am calculating postage on my eBay stuff. The one thing I use a lot that I did not expect to is the 3 years of Latin I took in high school. So many medical words derived from Latin and the prefixes make it easy to describe body parts (Lateral/medial/etc) Mrs. Young would be proud.

    This is getting old.

It is one of my favorites but I have to see it at the theater for the full effect....
  13. So I assume you were stable on one medication a year ago at the time you had surgery and now you need two additional medications to be stabilized and your BS is giving you phentermine to counteract the weight gain. There has got to be a better option than taking all these drugs. Besides weight loss, has anything else happened to make you more emotionally unstable in the last year? If so, maybe that needs to be addressed. IMHO, you need a good therapist, good support in your life, good sleep and daily exercise. Psychiatrists are trained that the only way to manage mental illness is via medication and I agree with this for people that are psychotic, schizophrenic, bipolar etc. but people need more than drugs to become emotionally stable. I urge you to take control of your situation and not to believe that you have to take every medication a doctor prescribes. I am not saying you don't need any medication but it can not do the whole job by itself.

So Who do You Look Like?

Back in the 80s a couple of people told me I looked like Jaclyn Smith (I wish) but I really think it was just my hair...
  15. Sounds like you are doing very well and as long as your doctor/program okays the turkey chili and other solid foods you are good to go. I had no problems either but was 2 weeks on liquids then 4 weeks on purees. Amazes me how different the recommendations are. Good luck!!
  16. And you get your muffin points for repeatedly posting the same obscure articles and opinions. And I do not see anyone on here liking or thanking you. You offer nothing of value here.

    Waist Trainers

I have several underwire camisoles that I wear instead of a bra because they create a smoother line and jeans/pants look better. I tuck them into regular panties with jeans and into a pair of shapewear bike shorts with dress pants. I think it helps a lot. I have the most luck finding them at a good price on eBay or stores like Ross Dress For Less and Marshalls. Target and Kohls also carry a line from Sara Blakely (originator of Spanx) called Assets which have a bit better price point.
  18. What in her background in neuroscience makes her an expert in human nutrition, particularly linking protein intake to cancer. It would me like me writing an article on geriatric nutrition even though all my education, experience and knowledge is in pediatrics. Bahar Gholipour, Staff Writer Bahar Gholipour is a staff reporter for Live Science covering neuroscience, odd medical cases and all things health. She holds a Master of Science degree in neuroscience from the École Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris, and has done graduate-level work in science journalism at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She has worked as a research assistant at the Laboratoire de Neurosciences Cognitives at ENS.
  19. The average bariatric patient does not get a massive amount of anything. At almost 6 months out I use about 7 ounces of premiere protein shake daily in my coffee...you said before that you do this to. I do not eat protein bars, only an ounce or less of natural cheese a day, plain Greek yogurt maybe 3 times a month and have not had milk in over 6 months. I do take the recommended calcium citrate. Sorry but this particular rant is really crazy. Fat people are getting cancer because that eat massive amounts of dairy? Post a link to that study please, I would really like to see it and share with some of my friends at high risk for breast cancer due to family history.
  20. Sure I did. The RD one was linked to and specific to post cancer nutrition which is not the purpose of this site. The CT one cited a small 8 year ago study in Poland that looked at protein intake as a solitary factor and tried to draw a cause and effect relationship while leaving out many other variables. It is exactly like people that do not want to vaccinate their kids. You can find many "experts" that support no vaccinations, that state vaccines clearly cause autism and validate what ignorant people want to do which is not vaccinate their children against deadly diseases. There is probably a study to support eating a diet of peanut M&Ms and Little Debbies if you look hard enough.
