Make your protein and water intake your top priority until you can get into therapy. Did you talk about food addiction at your psych evaluation? What did he/she say?

Check your current nutrition plan as everyone has different requirements

You’ll have to call your insurance company and find out what they cover and what they don’t. That’s your responsibility.

Chickened Out On Surgery Day. Help.
NYJenn replied to xandriuh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Can you ask your team if they can prescribe something for your surgery day? Something that’ll calm your nerves? -
PLEASE HELP. I’m 2 weeks post op with very little weight loss.
NYJenn replied to GastricGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You’re still healing. You had major surgery. Give your body a break -
My husband and mom are the only two that know 🤷🏼♀️ I wasn’t interested in sharing my business with anyone else
-
Maybe because this is not your first WLS, they want to make sure you are prepared? I’d call and ask though. Seems strange for insurance to have no requirements, but the office to have 6 months

Maybe you haven’t dealt with whatever the event was. It might come up again in your psych consult. Consider therapy before the process, just to ensure you’ve faced all your skeletons

Liquids won’t stretch it out

People didn’t start saying anything to me until I had lost about 80 lbs (started at 288). Even then, sometimes they weren’t sure what was different about me

Just keep a water bottle in your desk and sip. Does your school have rules about that? Most teachers in my building have a water bottle, regardless of WLS

Surgery release question
NYJenn replied to sunsetchaser's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My husband picked me up, but no one checked on that. When I was discharged and they asked me who was picking me up, but I just packed my bags and left. You could def just call a cab or Uber -
Interview with different surgeons?
NYJenn replied to vovo2013's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My program was weird and I didn’t meet the surgeon until the end of my 3 months. He was not warm and fuzzy but I honestly didn’t care, he was a good surgeon and that’s what I needed him for -
I was home for the summer with my kids, but I’d say I napped everyday for the first 2 weeks 🤣

Tuna pouches are a great way to get your protein and they have bunch of different flavors

Did your surgeon want you to lose weight before you got surgery
NYJenn replied to Summer56's topic in The Gals' Room
He and my nutritionist encouraged lifestyle changes, not weight loss Per se. Obviously with the changes came weight loss, but that wasn’t the main goal -
How did you decide the sleeve was for you and any regrets?
NYJenn replied to Panda333's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Bypass all the way! I see way too many revisions from sleeve to bypass on this board. I decided on bypass and never looked back -
Unsupportive Caregiver
NYJenn replied to betterlate2019's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m sorry you have no support. But this is your journey, not hers. Do right by you and let her do her thing. You can def care for yourself a few days post op, do your walking, set timers for your liquids, etc. you got this! -

I remember going back for my one week post op and being shocked at how much better I felt. You won’t feel like a million bucks, but soooo much better then you do today

Feeling like this didn’t work....
NYJenn replied to KimB7811's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe eat a planned amount rather then just eating until you are full. It took me a while to get the hang of feeling full so I just pre-measured my food and that’s what I ate.
