BMI too low for insurance to cover surgery

I'm pretty sure this is the same place I just had mine done and I also had the sleeve and hh repair. I live in Vegas but a lot of people travel here for the surgery.
  2. I spoke to my doctor over the phone and she approved for me to start with some soft foods 8 days post of. She suggested eggs. She told me that everyone is different and that right now, if it would go through a funnel then I would be able to eat it. I ate the whole scrambled egg with cottage cheese mixed in. I think our "funnel diet" is more of like a pureed diet but all I've had is shakes and a little bit of creamed cauliflower cheddar soup.

Mine is itchy too and there is a hard knot under the big incision.

    Ice water

How long did you wait before having a nice cold drink of water? Sent from my SM-G930V using BariatricPal mobile app
  5. I'm going to try to not be too graphic here but I wanted to share this. I was sleeved 8 days ago, on Tues. Thursday afternoon, I started taking the stool softner they gave me but it wasn't doing the trick. Friday, I was a little worried but was able to go a little . Every time I felt the need to go, it was like I was trying to pass a golf ball or more like, golf balls! On Monday, I called and talked to my NUT and she suggested Magnesium Citrate. I asked about Miralax and she said that would be ok. I got some Miralax and started that Monday evening. I had some more attempts but things were so hard and my this time, I was definitely impacted ALOT. My butt was hurting and sore from all the straining and fissures that had happened. Tuesday morning, again, painful and horrible. This stuff had to get out. I sent my daughter out for some Magnesium Citrate and when she got home, I gave it a try. I was supposed to drink the whole bottle. It's 10 oz and I drank a few ounces but that stuff was so nasty! I called my husband and asked him to bring an enema on his way home from work. Last night, I went to the bathroom and prepared myself the best I could. I then realized that this was not a one person job. My husband kindly and gently helped. I don't see how people can hold an enema in for very long. I think I may have made it just in 2 minutes. What followed, well, I'm not going to go into detail. It was gross and painful, poopy and bloody. But I knew there was still some stuck in there. There was about 1/3 of the enema left in the bottle and I called my husband up and hoped that would finish the job. Round 2. Again, about 2 minutes later, I'm on the toilet. God, I hope that's the last time to do all that. I cleaned up, got some preparation H and went back down stairs to take my nightly does of Miralax. In the middle of the night, I got up and yep, passed some more not quite golf balls. And, this morning I got up and had to go. I'm so sore but I had to act of the urge. I was so happy to finally have something that resemble a normal poop. Kind of ballish to begin with but then there was like, alot after that that wasn't. After that, I called and spoke with my surgeon just inform her and to ask about this hardness on my right side (which I think could be, yep, you got it poop in my colon/large intestines). She agreed but said as long as it wasn't painful (and it's not) to keep with the miralax daily and plenty of water. Best thing about it is that she said I could go ahead and eat some food, like eggs and other soft food. What has your poop journey been? What do you find is helpful in dealing with constipation? If you have dealt with it, does it improve? I never had issues with constipation in the past. I don't want to get impacted again, that's for sure!
  6. Welcome and good luck!! I had my sleeve on 7/31 and was back home that afternoon. I had my family helping me but if I had to be by myself, I would have been fine. The hardest thing is when I need to pick something up off of the floor.

    Phase One update

Today is my 5th day post op. I've been getting my recommended amount of protein from shakes (60g) along with 60 oz of water. After the 1st 24 hrs, I could have food from my funnel diet list. The only think I've had has been some bone broth and a small bite of tomato bisque. I didn't care for the tomato. Tonight my daughter made cauliflower white chedder soup and it was amazing. I ate tiny little bites and tomorrow I'm going to have it again and add some unflavored protein powder. Today, my incision pain is better but where the big incision is still hurts when I'm moving around a lot or sitting up too long. I really appreciate having this board and being about to share others experiences about our jouney.
  8. Same here. Today, it was the smell of toast.

    Family eating

I'm figuring I'll be there in a couple of days. I had surgery this past Tuesday. Right now, I kind of have an aversion to food and even listening to my husband eat is food grosses me out! I tried to eat some tomato bisque last night and didn't care of the flavor. So, it's all been shakes and yummy bone broth and I'm okay with that for not. My daughter did have some left over pasta and chicken today that smelled really nice but for me the idea of eating it just wasn't appealing. I hope that lasts for me!
  10. I was told to take tiny sips and the first couple of days post op I understood. Now, I'm 3 full days out and it seems that drinking almost normal sized drinks is working fine. I can take 2 or 3 drinks at a time. Is this okay or should u still be tiny sipping? I guess I'm scared to stretching my new stomach and I sure don't want that to happen.

    Question about drinking water

Thanks! I so glad to not have to do those tiny sips! I know that we are not supposed to drink water 30 min prior to, during, or after eating. I'm guess that during the liquid phase it isn't necessary. is that right?

    Holy Freaking PAIN!!!

I had my surgery Tuesday and was home by 3PM. The first couple of days was rough indeed. I think the walking helped a ton with getting the gas out so now the pain is from the surgery and my abdomen is very sore but today is better than yesterday and I can take bigger sips so I'm getting in my liquids. I've also been taking my pain meds, hydrocodone, and that helps once get into a comfortable position. The first night I was still up every hour to walk as well as during the day. The last 2 nights I was up between 2 and 2 1/2 hours. I think tonight I'll see if I can just sleep. Good luck!
  13. I'm so glad you posted this! I'm also 4 days postop and haven't had a BM yet. I've passed gas a good bit but I decided I would take one of the stool softners this morning and see how that goes.

    July Sleeve

Thanks! The doctor I went to does most of the surgeries as outpatient. I don't think I was too out of it. When I woke up they got me up to walk and reviewed discharge info with me and my daughter. I was and still am very sore.
  15. I'm had mine on 7/31 and got home about 3 pm. I'm struggling to get my fluids in but I went for IV therapy today and was also given Toradol in my IV. I notice when I got home that I was able to drink bigger sips than yesterday. I was told to aim for a minimum of 60 g of protein for the first 2 weeks and that's 2 shakes at 22 fluid oz plus 64 oz of water. I might be able to take the liquid from the shake out of my water to get my 64 but I don't think I'll be getting 64 oz of just water today. I can't start on soft foods until the 3rd week. uggg Hang in there! We can do it!
  16. Surgery was 7/31 and I was out and back home by 3 pm. For the next 24 hours, I was only able to get in about 38 oz of Water. I get why we have to sip now. Those dry burp/heaves are no freaking joke! Yesterday afternoon, I started the Protein and water. I was able to get 30 g of protein and not as much water as I hoped. My stomach is sore AF and I've been sleeping in a slightly upright position on the couch and at night I get up every 2 1/2 hours to walk for 5-10 minutes...slowly. I 've been taking 1 pain pill pretty much every 4-5 hours but sometimes I stretch it out for longer. I can for sure tell when they wear off. I had to take a pain pill at 3 last night because that was as bad as I've hurt so far. I go in for IV therapy today and I've already got my Breakfast6 oz of Protein Drink done.

    Scales

I'm looking for recommendations for scales. If I go by the one in my bathroom, it changes every time I move it. I know it reads off for me. I came home from my last appt. and my weight show 215. I moved it and it showed 222. The doc had me at 243. My husband never has issues with it.
  21. I am trying to figure out my vitamin regimen to begin the at the end of my 2nd week post op. Do I need to go with all chewable or will capsules be ok? Any recommendation are appreciated.

    Figuring out Vitamins

The NUT said pill - capsules would be ok but that liquid or chewable are better.
