    Help after surgery

I don’t know what that hasn’t crossed my mind. I’m going to give that a try right now! I’m pretty desperate at this point. I feel great except for the pain on my side where the largest incision is. That's where mine hurt and I felt like I had a huge knot behind it and I wondered if my liver was inflamed or something because I was hurting really back just under my right lower rib cage, but looking back, I think it was my colon and me being impacted plus the infection.

    Help after surgery

I can relate. I had a lot of pain in the beginning. Some of it was related to constipation and some was related to an incision getting a superficial infection. I'm still not sure what all was going on, but I know the pain you are talking about. It slowly got better. I did have a 5 day round of antibiotics that I started on my 14th day after surgery. If I had to go back, I would have seen my doctor sooner and started antibiotics a little earlier. Have you tried a heating pad? I was told I could use a heating pad for 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off.

    Keto after sleeve?

I specifically asked my surgeon during a follow up about keto since my sister is doing it and we share some recipes. She said "no keto" due to the high fat. I still share some recipes and many of them are easy to modify the fat content.
  4. I was lucky to be able to start purred and soft after about 1 week. That first egg was great! As far as the meat, it went down fine. I cut pretty small bites and it was so juicy. I've had shrimp, chicken, groundTurkey, and salmon too. So far, I've not had any issues with introducing new foods. I just can't eat much of it at one time. My guidelines say no more than 1/2-3/4 cup of food per meal.
  5. Hang in there! It gets better. I don't know your nutritional plan but my was pretty open. I was sleeved on 7/31. Tonight I ate 2.5 oz of rib eye steak and some broccoli. Okay, I also had a couple of bites of baked potato.

GERD but want to have sleeve

I had GERD before my sleeve and I was worried when I read how many people get worse. However, I haven't. In fact, I've gotten better. I think it may have to do with me really focusing on not over eating as well as eating more slowly and chewing more than before the sleeve. My sleeve is still really new but I'm allowed to eat anything I want as long as I stay in my calorie guidelines and get my protein goals. With that being said, I think if I had know about the possibility of it getting worse before hand, I would have talked more with my doc about RNY and if that would have been an option for me, I would have gone that route.

    Vitamins

I finally started using 3 pill boxes. I put 2 of my calcium in my PM box since I take my multi and lunch.
  8. I was sleeved on 7/31 and I am 48. I had barely a 1 day period on 8/30 which was a few days late but usually I go for more than 1 day! We'll see what happens next month.

    post-op

My system was all over the place so I would say yes. Especially considering you are only taking in liquids right now. I had the opposite problem for a bit but it all has worked out.

    Vitamins and Supplements

Oh, it's good you asked! Some people don't know. I didn't before I started this process.

    Vitamins and Supplements

yes and that's one reason why I decided to take all of my multi vitamin at once. Those Bariatric Advantage are no joke. The first time I took them, it was on an empty stomach and I'll never make that mistake again. I eat lunch and then finish with a sip of water and 3 capsules. Then, I set a 2 hour timer for my calcium. My other doses of calcium are when I wake up and when I go to bed.
  12. I struggle with this a lot too! Being in Vegas, we have a hella ton of amazing food options! I'm trying to pay close attention to real hunger vs head hunger. When I have head hunger, I have to talk myself though it and try to set my thought on something else. It's hard though.

    should i be worried?

I'll be interested in what your doctor has to day. When I was 2 days out, I went in for IV therapy and after I got home, it was magical because from that point on, no more tiny sips! I was able to drink a normal drink of water and shakes. I wasn't parched or anything like that. Six days post op, I called my doctor about another issue and during our conversation, I mentioned how I was so tired of shakes and broth and it seemed I was hungry. She told me to start eating scrambled eggs and if I was okay with that, I could then move on to other soft/pureed foods. I think the yogurt and other foods like soups and even the pureed foods just are easier to eat without giving us a full feeling. Once you move to textured foods, you'll be able to feel full.

    Question about calories

    I'm 600-800.
  15. I was sleeved on 7/31 and whew, it's been a journey! I'm happy with my weight loss progress and that 3 week stall can be discouraging for sure! I was so happy to see the scale move again. LOL I had developed a slight infection at my big incision and took a round of antibiotics and went on a trip for 10 days. I had to do my 2 week post op nutritional counseling via video conference while I was on my trip and I didn't get to see my surgeon until I got back. By that time, my incision had closed completely but was getting bigger and at first I thought it was a crazy fast keloid (I'm prone to those) but then I realized it was fluid. When I went in to see my surgeon, she cut into the site and showed me how to pack it with gauze. She gave me another round of antibiotic too. I go back to see her in 2 weeks. In the meantime, she cleared me to start some light cardio. Today was my first day to work up a little bit of a sweat, and I mean little because I stopped after 10 minutes. I'm starting with Leslie Sansone and I hope to do 20 minutes tomorrow. I've been eating around 600 calories +/-100 per day and trying hard to get 64 oz of water. I think I'll get it today and today will be the first day that I've taken all my vitamins and calcium. I'm getting the hang of this new life!

    solid foods in phase 3

Everyone seems to have various programs for how they progress in what they eat. I would be sure to talk with your NUT or surgeon. My plan had me starting textured foods like ground meats, fish, lean beef, etc during week 3 and 4. Today is the end of my 4th week. I've tolerated everything I've eaten, I just can't eat much of it.
  17. The first thing I thought about when I read your post was a gallstone attack. I had one years ago before surgery and I thought I was having a heart attack.

    Help

With my situation, I got so impacted, I could feel it in my side. I added Miralax daily in additional to the stool softener. Another option may be taking a dose of Milk of Magnesia. I had to do that once since my surgery on 7/31. I'm at a point now where I haven't had MoM, Miralax, or a stool softener for last last 5 days. When I was dealing with being impacted, I couldn't eat as well. I think my body was protesting because it was so stacked up.

    Help

If you have not had a BM since 7/30, that should be cause for alarm. I would try an enema and I would speak to your doc ASAP.

    Zero sex drive...

My husband and I decided to have sex daily for a set period of time. Bottom line for me, because I was non-orgasmic, I did a lot of reading and research and bought some "toys". The one item I would highly recommend (and the only one we still use) is Hitachi Magic Wand. You can get it from Amazon I also recommend checking out the site Christian Nymphos - I found a good bit of support there. Our marriage had all kinds of problems and lack of sex was just one of them (or more like a symptom of them). We ended up in a 911 save our marriage kind weekend program that did make a huge impact. This was 8 years ago. We are approaching our 25th wedding anniversary. If you want to dig deeper into your marriage, I high recommend starting with His Needs/Her Needs and doing the emotional needs questionnaire. This can be a great tool for you and your spouse to use as a guide to talk through your thought and feeling about how your needs are or are not being met.
  21. Oh my! I did! I thought it was a reaction to me developing a skin infection at my big incision site, but I'm not really sure. I did take a round of antibiotics. I also thought it may have been heat rash or something. I had it on both hips and the small of my back. I used hydrocortisone and then I started putting monostat on it because I wondered if it was some sort of yeast. Those rashes cleared up but over the last few days, I've gotten a different kind of rash on my chin out to the side of my mouth and around my nose. It feels kind of like razor burn or something. It's dry and I've been putting aquafor on it but it doesn't seem to be helping. It may or may not have anything to do with surgery. I have a follow up appt. with my surgeon and will add it to my list of things to mention.

    CONSTIPATION!!

I wrote a post about my poo journey. It was traumatic! I've been doing fine with miralax and no longer have to use it daily. If I got a day with out having a BM, I'll take miralax for a few days.
  24. It sounds like you could be in ketosis. That's once of the side effects for some people.
  25. Yay!!!! I’m hoping my stall is over soon I have been in a stall since 8/15 Finally, today, I was down 1 1/2 lbs. I'll take it!
