  1. They're to make sure you don't have any blood clots in your legs. Just make sure you get up and move around, and you can always order compression socks from Amazon for less than $10 that will do the same thing.

    PCOS

I am six weeks post op and down 26 pounds from 201. I have PCOS, am starting menopause and was pre-diabetic as well. I lost very little during the pre-op diet, but the weight has been coming off slowly but steadily since surgery. According to the doctor I'm a little ahead of where they'd expect me to be, so I'm feeling good about my loss so far. The important thing is that I'm feeling really good, and I'm constantly not fitting into more of my clothes. I try to look at it that if the weight comes off more slowly then I hopefully won't experience as much hair loss and my skin will have time to shrink as well, so I'll have less loose skin at the end. My reasons for having the surgery was to reduce my risk of breast cancer and to feel better, not to be skinny, so I'm okay with the slower progress.
  3. I plan to keep drinking them too. I'd also been drinking them for breakfast for about a year and a half before my surgery. (Gold Standard Whey Protein powder, extreme milk chocolate)

    Any short sleevers?

I'm 5'1" and was 201 pounds. I had surgery last Monday and am down 15 pounds total so far! Everything is going well so far. I understand what you're saying about people not thinking you need surgery, but most of the people I've told have been supportive. I chose to do this to reduce my risk of breast cancer, and to just feel better in general, so I just stay focused on that. Good luck with your surgery! Love the term "short sleever" too!
