ok All great help. But specifically are the chewable kind a must or can I just stick what I have now and swallow. I've never had an issue with taking/swallowing pills. I take about 7 different pills now in one swallow and some are large. Is it a digestive thing that they want us having chewable? What about crushing or grinding? Will that help with absorption? thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!

Welcome @weirdlittlefox . Best of luck on your surgery and a speedy recovery. Gotta say this forum is great all around... Support, concerns, both positive and negative post op experiences. A whole lot of information. Don't have so much to offer myself as I'm still pre op but have taken in a lot. Like you FB is not something I had ever joined until recently and really don't use it at all. I'm sure you'll like it here just fine.

Thank you all for the feed back. I've compared my list of vitamins with what was suggested and the only thing missing is the calcium citrate. Actually with the D and B vitamins I'm actually prescribed a higher dosage than what was recommended. Really the only reason I think Bariatric Advantage was recommended is because he sells them in his office and told me to purchase them from him. Pocket change I'm sure but still. I'm sure they are great and that's why he said those but times aren't easy and they aren't cheap. I did look into the points system but when I went to turn them in they only applied to gift cards with a purchase. Unless I'm reading it wrong? Also Flintsones sound like a wonderful throw back to my childhood. Thank you and hope to hear many more suggestions.

@JulesUp Welcome and best of luck on your surgery. I've been here only a short period of time but have learned tons and have found a wonderful community of extremely helpful people. By the way my tentative date is the 12th pending approval from insurance.

Question to those who suffer from SERIOUS back pain... What do you do pre-op for workouts?
J San replied to J San's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Thank you @KimTriesRNY and @Losingit2018 for the advice. I do have bands I could steal from my wife and use. Also the pool is an excellent idea. Guess I'll be spending more time with my parents. -

Just hit my 90 day mark for both my journey and the mandatory time period insurance requires. Went in to see my surgeon initially to schedule a naval hernia repair and he recommended WLS to decrease future issues with hernias. I had kind of thought about it prior but never seriously. Anyway, I have a tentative date of July 12 pending insurance approval. Start my 2 week pre op diet on the 28th of this month. Although it really hasn't been a long time period it seems it's been waaaayyyy longer. Best of luck to all of you and speedy recoveries all around.

Glad you finally got an answer. Sucks it had to happen so many times before it was figured out. Were you checked pre-op for gallstones? Or did it develop post surgery? Hope you have a speedy recovery from this new surgery and best wishes. Hopefully no mas problemas.!!!

Holy Shi*T.. I just counted the days and realized I have 9 days until I have to start mine and my heart dropped. I don't think I'm worried about the diet itself but the fact that It's that much closer to surgery day. Best of luck to you that are doing the diet now. Stay strong!!!!

Hope all goes well and you have a speedy easy recovery!!!

Just had a pre-op class last week that was 2hrs long during which we had a written quiz and then discussed the answers. The longest thing I've done so far is the wait for Endoscopy. Havn't heard anything about 2hr test though. Good luck though.

Not there yet but my surgeon said if your meds are the size of the bed of you pinky nail you can swallow them. If they are larger some can be cut. If that is no good than see you pcp and figure out what you can do. I wouldn't completely cut them out.

The ravages of middle age! LOL:)
J San replied to Creekimp13's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is something I never thought about. Always just had that mindset that I would look like my old self at that weight. I've always been told I look way younger than I am. Or you look to young to have kids that age. I'll be 45 next month and my oldest is 23. My grays make me look older but never thought about the stretched skin making me look younger. Damn, Does this mean I finally have to grow up and act my age? Hell no, I've always said in my mind I'm 15 so maybe now I'll adjust to hmmm say 18 to 21. Yeah that'll work. -
This Place!!! This Place Right Here!!!!! Post your fears and questions and there will be an answer. Someone here has been through it. If you have the time look through the older posts and you will find anything you are looking for. I have learned more here from others experiences than from my own surgeon or nutritionist. They gave me all the info but not the detail you get from all the folks here. I havn't had to post many questions that I had because I always find a post about it with more information than I could have thought there would be. Stay up and best of luck to you.

Potential date of July 12th. My 90 day pre op period is Thursday this week and my case gets submitted for approval. Hopefully all goes well and the date stays the same or maybe sooner?

Congrats on getting to "the" day. Best of luck on a speedy recovery!!!

July 2018 Surgery Friends and Successes
J San replied to Frustr8's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Potential date for me is 7/12. Hopefully all goes smoothly, approval goes through and they stick with that date. I think I just had my last pre-appoval procedure done today, ultrasound for liver and gallstones. Worried about the liver as I am/was a heavy drinker. But if I get bad news from that at least I have a huge party to look forward to. I have pre-op class this friday. Then 1 last follow up with surgeon and 1 with NUT. Hope all goes as planned for everyone!!! -
