Yeah, liked the texture scale. He does have some interesting ideas. They guy is smarter than I am so who am I to argue with his ideas. Like I said some of the things he preaches make you wonder but I don't believe everything any doctor preaches anyway.

Just because he does things differently doesn't mean he's absolutely wrong. He has patients and who knows how many are succussful or otherwise. He has different views, but almost every program has differences from one to another. Not saying he's right but you never know. It's just this guy is wayyyyy off from what the norm is so you have to wonder and question. I do think he's entertaining if it turns out he's way off base on his suggested program.

I thought the acid in tomatoes is a no-no in the early stage post op? But I would kill for some of this right now.....

OK, just looked at it and they are not zero calorie but very low. This list was given to my by my NUT and part of my program. Just be cautious if these are not listed as permitted foods for you, you may want to check with your team first before consuming. "FREE FOODS" -SF gelatin -SF popsicles -salad greens -bouillon -SF drinks -SF gum and my favorite -Dill pickles Good Luck!!!

Can you drink watermelon juice post op gastric sleeve?
J San replied to Tiima's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was told no fruit juice due to sugar content. If you can't call your surgeon what about email or maybe they gave you paperwork with listed do's and dont's? Good luck either way!!! -
Great advice!!! I know no science behind working out so this is EXCELLENT info. Thank you @allwet . And thank you @gully90 for asking the question. Good luck getting the rest of the weight off and have fun on that cruise!!!

My was a necessity as well, ordered by the surgeon. They want to see if you have sleep apnea. My PCP had been trying to get to have one for a year but I did not want to have to do it at a sleep center. Luckily the one ordered by my surgeon was mailed to me and all I had to do was hook up the little box to myself and sleep at least 4 hours. I have sleep issues and I woke up just shy of 4 hours so I just laid there still and relaxed and it went fine. Come to find out I do have sleep apnea and now use a cpap machine. It definitely helps with keeping my nasal passage clear but I still suffer from hardly sleeping more than 3 to 4 hours a night. Have some vivid and crazy dreams now too, and I remember them when I wake.

It's unpopular, but I LOVE MY BODY
J San replied to nourishing heather's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your on your way and your outlook is perfect. Best of luck to you your journey and I wish you only success. I suffered a lot of similar ills as you due to my weight. I'm only 10 days post op but already I can feel the transformation and it just excites me every time I it crosses my mind. One thing new that I am having to learn since the beginning of my journey is patience. I don't want everything to happen quickly because I hate my body the way it is but because of the excitement I feel on envisioning what the outcome WILL BE. Your going to do GREAT!! -
Intro time: who's new to the group, who's pre-op, & who just recently made it to the loser's bench?
J San replied to xoxococojay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Welcome @Pznapd and good luck on your journey. Be ready to get your fill of knowledge and experience here from so many wonderful people. Feel free to ask ANYTHING and you will get supportive answers and suggestions. The group here are so great. I couldn't be happier that I have been a part of it for the last few months!! I'm 10 days post op, had mine on July 12th. On full liquids now and have been doing well with everything. A bit rough the 1st few days but thankfully it was no where near as rough as some experiences I have read about. Weight loss is going great. I was +5lbs 2 days after surgery date but since, 8 days later, I'm down 18lbs. In know this will not last very long but I hope it lasts for a good bit. I'm so anxious to start working out more but I know I have to wait. Patience was not something I thought I'd have to work on during this process. Best of luck to everyone. -
Best of luck to you all on your pre op diet. My layout was just like @YoBL , two shakes and one meal of 3oz protein and vegies. Do you guys have a list of "freebies", I did and the one thing on it that saved my day so many times was pickles. I even drank the juice. They are considered no calorie so that's why it was a freebie. GOOD LUCK!!! Your almost there.

My pre op diet for two weeks was 2 protein shakes as a meal each than 3rd meal 3oz of protein with vegies. I was allowed 2 snack during the day like sf ice pops or jello. I also had a list of freebies that were 0 calories. Pickles were my savior, went through almost 4 jars in two weeks.

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
J San replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel your pain towards the end of clears I was wanting something with more substance in the worst way. My program had me on clear liquids for the 1st week then I was allowed full liquids for this week. You should have a program that your nutritionist or surgeon gave you, you should follow that. If not you should call them before you try something new. I havn't found a big difference between clears and solids other than the amount of fullness you feel but call just to be safe. Good Luck!!!! -
@jjacobs0816 congrats to you. Keep it up and fill your belly with water to help. Best of luck to you on your journey!!!

Tiny sips was key for me. So small I felt it was absurd. I had surgery on the 12th and by 7 days post op I was almost 100% clear of the pain. Take it easy but don't give up, It will get better.

Why is alcohol that bad for you after surgery?
J San replied to t1018ross's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was an alcoholic already pre op. Does that mean I'm good to go? BTW havn't had a drink post op and I plan on trying my hardest to keep it that way. I was drinking 1400 calories of Vodka ( yes vodka, the one everyone thinks has the least calories) in two to three days. Granted it would be a portion of that if I did drink again, ya know with the small belly and all, but I am not willing to take in those unneeded calories. -
Gave up coffee completely after my 1st consult with my NUT. She said it builds up acid in the stomach that could affect the staples after surgery.(or something like that) Been drinking spanish coffee since I was a child. I could drink a cup and go right to sleep so it wasn't a point of the caffeine any longer. Luckily stopped cold turkey and had no issues. Not sure if I'll ever go back to drinking it as often as I used to or even at all. I don't crave it and it's just added calories. Good luck with your coffee vacation.

Congrats and I wish you a continued successful recovery!!!

This cracked me up. My wife cannot stand bananas. Not sure if it's a textural thing or the flavor (maybe both) but she hates them. I pictured her reaction whenever I eat one or make something out of it. That scrunched face and the "YUK" statement coming from her mouth. Feel bad for you that dislike, oh what you are missing. (Probably not) To OP, is there anyone in your house that eats them? If so tell them to give you a slice when they do and see how you react to that piece. Instead of eating the whole thing and possibly having a bad experience, or not liking it after one bit and having to chuck the remainder. Good luck with the taste test. I have to sliced bananas waiting in the freezer for my stage 3 or 4 to make some goodness!!

@Boujee_Susie Congrats and great to hear your feeling so good. I wish you speedy pain free recovery!!! @Cammee Your probably just about through your procedure but Good Luck and best to you on a speedy recover as well!!!

I wasn't given any restrictions on driving. I would say if your not given any be your own judge. If your off the pain meds and not feeling any dizzeness/lightheadedness your probably good to go. Take a quick trip in your neighborhood and see how you feel, the soreness may effect you. Just be cautious and good luck. Make that money!!!
