  1. Like I said, I want to know whats going on this early in the game. If I did not weigh myself this morning I would not know I dropped just under 4lbs from yesterday. I'm learning from it, I now physically see how the whole calories in -vs- calories out things affects me. I went walking yesterday for about 30 minutes and entered that into MyFitnessPal. Along with tracking my food intake I came out with a negative on calorie consumption. It was my 1st day of phase 3 and I didn't get in a lot, just wouldn't fit. I'm sure that will change by the end of the week long phase but I'll have an idea of how certain foods react with what I'm physically doing. Learn now so it becomes second nature later. Then I won't have to worry about crescent moons or ice shelves either.

    When to start jogging?

Read the beginning of an article on Wednesday while sitting in my surgeons waiting room about it. That's what gave me the idea. I remember reading a post from you in another thread a few weeks back where you mentioned rucking. Sounds really interesting. I am going to look into it.Highly doubt it's something i'd ever physically be able to do but no harm in learning about it. Thanks for the info and Good luck on your training and the actual event when you get there.
  3. Like so many, daily in the morning. I was not given instruction on how often to way myself. I track it just like I track my food intake and walking. I'm sure I'll tire of doing it and will cut back but for now 2 weeks post op I want to know what's going on. I went up 2lbs earlier this week and stalled at that weight for three days following. I upped my calorie intake a bit and that seemed to get me back on track. I'm curious to see my weight tomorrow after my first day of phase 3.
  4. Good luck to both of you. All will be fine. Wishing you both a great surgery and a painless speedy recovery.

    When to start jogging?

Was telling my wife today as the weight comes off I should add weights to my backpack for my walks. Technically I wouldn't be lifting anything more than what I was already carrying.....

    When to start jogging?

Maybe I wrote that wrong. Meant nothing but eliptical, stationary bike or walking. Those are allowed, nothing else is. No lifting anything over 10lbs which almost impossible.

    I’m new here.

Welcome to the journey @StephanieU and welcome to the site. You picked a great support group here.
  11. You look great. Another wonderful success story to help with the motivation. Congrats!!!!
  12. It so great to hear a guys perspective and experience with surgery. Although I appreciate all the women and their responses on the main forums I think hearing a guys outcome gives a better idea of what's to come. Congrats and Thanx!!!

    Cookbooks

I get a LOT of recipes from Pinterest. Type in the phase # or name ie:mushy or pureed or even bariatric diet and it will pull up plenty. Just be careful I always seem to fall down wormholes when I visit that site.

    Newbie

Good for you on doing your thing. I could hardly walk five steps pre op due to back issues. Not sure how but since surgery my back pain is much more manageable and I have started taking 30ish minute walks. Hope to soon be able to get to 2 miles. Stick to it and you'll have no issues at all. I lost 30 plus lbs in four months leading up to surgery mainly by cutting out carbs. Tracking everything is a big plus. Good Luck and WELCOME!!!!!
  15. Best wishes for you tomorrow. You will honestly be fine, just try to calm your nerves. There really is no reason to worry. Enjoy the journey.
  16. I looked at it when I first put in the bowl and thought man I'm gonna kill this and want more. Nope. Sliced the banana and added to the baggy in the freezer with the rest of it and my dog was more than happy with that leftover egg. Insane.
  17. Not looking forward to the loose skin but I'm ok with it. I hate my big ass gut right now. A flat gut with some hanging skin but a much healthier life sounds like a pretty good trade off.

    When to start jogging?

Good for you. Pre op I would have never thought I would be interested in jogging. Post op I feel like I just want to do everything and I can't yet. Had my 1st follow up with my surgeon yesterday and was told to wait until 6 weeks post to anything past eliptical w/ no arms, stationary or walking. Not even swimming until incision scars are fully healed. No scabs, has to me only my skin over spots.

    Tracking app suggestions?

100% my thoughts. Baritastic is good but had a soup that was not on their list. Tried adding it but could not figure out what to do. Stopped using it after that. Really the only thing I liked better was the water tracking part of it.
  22. I would not have been so nice. It's not anyone's but your surgeons place to say something like that. Good for you for staying calm and hats off to your husband for keeping you there. Good luck on your recovery!!!

    Scales

I have the same problem with my POS scale. It will sit in the same spot for days and when it decides to not play nice it just reads ridiculously low or the number steadily scroll and gives me no reading. I want one them old school scales with the two weights that slide across the bar. Put it on zero when you are off of it and you know it's accurate. Or at least probably more accurate than the digital ones.

    Post op 3 days

No need to worry. It'll all be fine. Stay excited instead of worried for the wonderful future that you'll find on this journey!!!!!

    Vision issues

Pre op I wore readers from time to time. Since surgery I've had to use them more often. I just figured it was my youthful eyes losing the battle but now reading this I am hopeful they will get better.
