Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
J San replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what I had done. I think it may be the norm these days, but who knows. Dissolvable stitches on the inside and surgical glue on the incision on the surface of the skin. 3 out of the 4 scabs have come off and all the glue is gone. There is one, the biggest one that's like a dimple, I can see the end of the stitch. It's sticking out of the incision about an 1/8 of an inch. Pretty cool -
If you've spent some time here I'm sure you have come across numerous posts about the positive outcome of this surgery. Yeah there are a handful of people posting about negatives but you always read from members that are further along that it is only temporary. All will go well and before you know it you'll be done with it and working on the new you. Keep your head up, keep positive.

That is AWESOME!! CONGRATS to you!!!!

That looks sooooo good. Gonna have to look for that. Probably can't tolerate it yet though. -
I had viewed this thread some time ago but only went back a few pages. I just went through the entire thing and want to say CONGRATS to all you guys with your success!!!! You are all an inspiration and I so look forward to adding my pics to this thread. I can't wait to be able to start working out and see the transformation. Another three weeks and I should be cleared to hit the weights, hopefully sooner. Keep up the great work all of you, and whatever other guys are on this website post those pics. It seems there are quite a few less guys here now than when the thread was created.

So it doesn't last forever? That's a relief!!

Yes exactly that.

BTW I read through this post a few days back It bothered me quite a bit how the women were responding and not giving 2 $hits. There were some responses that were deleted so I don't know what sparked the whole thing but two years after a woman still had to have the last word and post a response. Nothing to do with the original topic/question but still had to pop in. Why do some people feel it entitled to but in and give their opinion when no one asked for it?
-
In the end does it really matter. I'm sure there are trolls that post as men or vise versa. It does annoy the $hit out of me when women post here but outside of being an a$$hole and possibly starting a $hitstorm what can you do? I think I commented once on someones post in here that a few women responded to. Just said "Thanks "Guys" for responding to his post" or something like that. I think I responded in a woman's post when I first came to this site and realized it almost right away. Also apologized right away and never went back. We know they read the posts here but like it's been said, we post here to hear men's responses and experiences. Just respect that and move on......

I've been saving a bunch of different cauliflower recipes. Probably start experimenting this week.

I barfed for the 1st time yesterday. I'm in stage 4 and am allowed meats so I tried ground beef. I had a bite or two to many and was very uncomfortable for the next 30 minutes waiting to take a sip of water. After about 40 minutes I took a very small sip, went for a second but had to hold it in my mouth because the nausea hit me quick. Walked to the trash can and got rid of the whole 1/2 oz of meat I had eaten. Won't be trying that again for some time. Like I said it's the 1st time so can't say if it was fullness or the meat but I'm sure if I had taken another bite I would have had the same result sooner.

You'll love it here. Great group of humans. Welcome!!!

I do just about hit my mark most days with Protein, I have to get in 80g, but it's a LOOOONG day. From 6-7 am to 1-2am. I usually have 2 shakes a day with the 2nd shake being my last meal just to get me close to 80. The liquid stage was easier. I had 1/8cup of refried beans with 1/2oz of chick today for 51 calories and a whopping 6g of protein. Meals with mushy foods is the only reason I'm up in calories. I'm learning to stop when I get that feeling in my chest that is letting me know I've filled the tank. The last week or so i would feel it and always take one more bite, then be uncomfortable for the next hour. It's a big learning curve, especially stage 3 mushy and stage 4 solids but It's what I signed up for and I'm still excited about it all. I'm not low in energy as some have stated. Even with the low caloric intake I actually feel like I have a lot more compared to pre op. Maybe from all the protein?

What about sprays? Havn't used it much but it's what I used to cook my scrambled eggs week 2. Guess I should look at the label........

I was sleeved 7/12, started tracking agin 7/14 my 2nd day home. Here is my 1st week of calorie intake. 7/14-205, 7/15-200, 7/16-285, 7/17-341, 7/18-351, 7/19-392 . I hit week 3 this past Thursday and I've just been getting in 500 calories the last 4 days. I'm having a hard time hitting my numbers (protein and water) because I get super full very quickly with soft foods.

Whatever your problems are, keep in mind you die at the end of all this. Let's get out there, brutalize ourselves and laugh at those certain pricks who take it seriously, like there is anyway to win in all this. - Doug Stanhope

Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
J San replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been relying on liquids to get my protein. Any solids I eat fill me up after about 4 bites and those are tiny bites. The craziest thing is I tried refried beans earlier this week and after 3-4 bites (each about an eighth of a small spoon, like the very tip of it) I feel like I ate a full meal. -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion

I just hit 3 weeks out yesterday. I did minimal walking until about 5 days out. Beginning I might have walked 15 minutes with a few breaks. I have a bad back so after about 100yards or so I have to stop due to the pain. I had no issues other than that and being out of shape. My belly seemed fine. As my times out have multiplied I've been able to walk longer and without taking a break as often. As far as calories I have been slowly building those up from 250ish the 1st few days to the highest I've gotten, 571 and 574 which was the last two days. In week two I hit 400 once, the rest of the days were in the 300's. It seems I'm consuming less now but I'm just trying new things that carry more calories ( ie: a 1/4 of banana in my protein shake and egg salad with yogart and protein powder). Hunger is hardly ever the reason I eat, it's more like I eat/drink when not full. If I feel hunger, a few sips of water kills that. There's no need to rush or feel like your not advancing enough. Listen to your body, you have to let it heal on it's own terms. If you have concerns don't hesitate to call your Surgical team to ask questions. It's what they are there for now. Be safe and GOOD LUCK!!!!! -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion
J San replied to Ylime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I walk and don't have issues with energy. There have been three occasions that I was completely wiped, no energy. Two times were days I had walked earlier for a half hour. Later that afternoon after a few hours I was outside doing some yard work. Doing my thing then all of a sudden it was like hitting a wall. Completely drained no energy at all. Yesterday I was out in the back doing yard work for about 3 hours. A bit low on energy but still felt ok. Went inside took a shower and at the very end of my shower it hit me again. Completely drained, was a struggle to lift my arms to wash off the soap. Really hard time drying myself. I have no idea why it hits me like that but I'm almost positive it's from the lack of calorie intake. Other than those times though I havn't had any issues. I tend to have more energy now most of the day than pre op. Welcome by the way. -
Feel like I should have lost more weight by now
J San replied to Letsgetgoing2018's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Add 100lbs to your number and I'm just about the same with loss. Surgery weight was 342lbs and I weighed myself today, I'm 315.4lbs. I don't think I'm losing too slow. Surgery was 7/12 so yesterday was exactly 3 weeks. Keep to it the weight will continue coming off. -

Go figure, It's part of my approved list. Believe me I will be avoiding it from here out. I'm just glad this happened this far out. I had nausea for 2 days after surgery and then it went away. Never had problems since until today with anything. I can't imagine the pain you guys that can't hold some things down early on must go through. Luckily I had no pain and it came up pretty easy. My next meal for today will be a trusty old shake. -
Summer 2018 Surgery Buddies: POST-OP Discussion

I have a question. This morning 2nd day on phase 4 which allows me to eat meat, I tried ground beef. My wife made fresh burgers last night for dinner with an 80/20 mix and I took 1oz of one of the patties. I ate about 1/4 of it and done. Couldn't eat any more, I was too full. After about 35 minutes after I took a small sip of water then went for a second. I didn't swallow it because I had that tightness in my chest suddenly build up really strong. Then kicked in the nausea. 1st time since surgery I had to vomit. Silly and it probably doesn't matter but when this happens do you track that as a meal? Does any of it get into your system in that amount of time? -
