Passed the Chic-fil-A test...it was tough
J San replied to tmrtyty2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It wasn't meant in a literal sense but thanks for pointing it out. Maybe I should not have used such a "dramatic" word knowing some people would not understand my meaning. The point is she did great in the situation and should be congratulated for doing so. Her thread should not be a reason for others to come and be negative. You don't know her relationship and from what she said she was fine with saying it was ok to go to the place. -
That 1st number was a 2 and that's all that matters. Good on you for getting there and I wish you much more success!!!!

Passed the Chic-fil-A test...it was tough
J San replied to tmrtyty2018's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
@tmrtyty2018 Good for you for being strong willed in that situation and respecting the fact that your family does not have to abide by the same rules you do. It's going to be tough at times but that's what makes us strong when it comes to re-learning how to eat healthy and not making poor decisions about our food choices. I applaud you!!!! -
Passed the Chic-fil-A test...it was tough

That's perfect make the kids and dad starve because you all went out together and you can't eat what they can. Yeah the bring along healthy snacks is a great idea but being 6 days out I'm sure no one was thinking of it. It's a new experience for everyone and they have to learn as things come up. If she didn't have an issue with it than it's a win for everyone. Sorry you got bitter at her experience and probably would have been angry if your significant other made the same suggestion. -
Man @Creekimp13 I'm coming to your place this year for Halloween. We're just plain boring here.

My only tradition was the kids go trick or treating and I had weeks of candy to feast on. Guess that one is out the window.

How long are your food phases?
J San replied to mooreva0725's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My program was given to me by my surgeon and NUT that work hand in hand. There was no discrepancy in length from anywhere. I was on each stage for 1 week. Clear liquid, Full liquid, Mushy/Soft foods than Pureed foods. After that back to normal food. It was noted that we could move on to the next stage or fall back on the past weeks if our bodies did not react well to any part. -

Clear protein drinks suggestions.

Protein2O. Taste great and are cheap in comparison to other bottled protein drinks. -
Favorite restaurant meals post WLS?
J San replied to BelleOfBatonRouge's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Other than Chinese take out, chicken & broccoli, I havn't eaten out. I've been to a diner with my wife and kids but my appetite is so off nothing looked appealing so I didn't order anything. -
Difficulty with Pre Op Diet
J San replied to MissTimeIsUp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How is your hospital regulating what you have to do and not your insurance. It's sounds odd but there are so many variations in these WLS programs who knows...... Any who. Try cutting carbs out as much as possible. Eat more protein and add veggies in place of it but don't go crazy. Stop eating sugar, cut out soda and what ever other crappy food your consuming. Well not cut out completely unless your an extremely strong willed person but cut back on those things. Try to keep the reason you want/need the procedure at the forefront and when you go to crap foods let those reasons be a deterrent. Stay positive, YOU GOT THIS!!!! -
Being completely prepared before surgery!!!
J San replied to laceco's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Worry most about the first week after surgery. That's when you'll need things on hand. It won't be much, as you most likely not be that hungry and liquids fill you up pretty easily. After you get past the soreness and can get around better see what you feel like eating/drinking and get those things. Again you'll probably be consuming so little you won't need much. You'll read all over older posts how people over did it with purchasing things (including myself) and wound up not needing or wanting them. -
Congrats on quitting smoking. It can be pretty tough giving up our demons. They sometimes tend to haunt us, but stay strong. You for sure got this!!! Just keep in mind the great new life your working towards. Good luck with giving up the sodas as well.

Protein2O is not that bad as far as sweet goes. It's not nearly as expensive as some of the others either.

I'm coming up on 12 weeks and am just barely making 700-800 calories a day. I've read so many folks here mentioning calorie suggestions in there plan at certain stages but it was never a part of mine. I finally asked my NP at my last appointment this past Wednesday. She said not to worry about anything more than protein and water intake. Otherwise just listen to your body, if your full don't eat, if your hungry go for it.

Trouble transitioning from liquids to puréed food
J San replied to bettie.blue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleever here but when I started I found I was either eating to quickly or taking bigger bites that I was not ready for. -
I ate things I felt I wouldn't be allowed to eat after surgery. For some reason cheesecake was the biggest craving I had and I made several pies in the weeks leading up to my pre-op diet. I did gain a few pounds the week before the diet because that's when I had my funerals. Don't feel bad about it but know you have to get it under control. It might put you in a bad spot after surgery when your hangry and can't have the things you were allowed prior. A HUGE part of this process is mental and you have to come to understand that if you havn't already. Do know though that nothing is restricted completely after but you'll be given an opportunity to learn how to control the urges and cravings.

Best to you on your journey and welcome to the site!!! -
Another 7/12'r here and feel the same. I see differences in my body but it definitely does not register. Weighed in at 283.2lbs this morning so down 1lb shy of 60 since surgery and 97 from highest weight. Happy with the results on weight loss so far and feel great physically. Wish my back issues would go away with the weight loss but that does not seem to be happening. Congrats to you all on the success so far!!!!

Hang in there. Your body will adjust to it's new configuration and all will be good again (BETTER than good).

I swear I thought I was a patient man until I had this surgery and wanted things to move much faster. I've gotten it "somewhat" under control but at times it's like waiting for Christmas morning in the middle of July.

Full liquids question.
J San replied to BelleOfBatonRouge's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Two protein shakes and one protein heavy, low carb meal was all I was allowed on pre op diet. The amount of carbs in that soup would have not been accepted. -
Yes, yes I did , 13 pounds off ..
J San replied to lili@ne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on the weight loss and getting through the 6 month process. Good luck on approval, I'm sure it will come quickly. -
I have no idea what a "onoybissue" is but congrats on getting your date for it. As far as after surgery, everyone is different. It depends on what is done, your pain tolerance, what pain meds they give you to take home etc.
