Weight loss slowed the first month

Don't worry. You've lost 22 pounds in 3 weeks. That's pretty amazing! People tend to see a larger loss at first, then it starts slowing down a bit, but there will be weeks that it could jump back up to a 5 pound loss. That's how my weight loss is. I'll lose nothing one week, then 5 pounds in a row the next 2 weeks, then 1 pound the next week, etc. It just varies.

    TERRIFIED of gaining weight

Same! I was experiencing a lot of leg cramps, so I decided to eat a banana every day, but it was a mind game for me to allow myself to eat a banana...who would have thunk

Gas....Loose stools! Almost 1 yr out.

Every once in a while, I just get an overwhelming feeling that I have to go to the bathroom, like, NOW, but it doesn't happen daily or even weekly, so I can't really say that it's an issue.

    ❤ 16 Months Post Op ❤

Girl, you look amazing and are such an inspiration! Thank you for the update!

    Whats short of time frame

It's just going to depend on your insurance. My insurance company required that I be under my surgeon's supervised weigh loss plan for 6 months before surgery.
  6. I bet it's not as bad as you think. I had to do liquids, but only for like 2 days before the surgery, and before that, I just ate low carb for a couple of weeks, and my surgeon complimented me on how my liver shrunk. So, don't fret. I think you'll be okay.

    Mouth Noises

This has nothing to do with weight loss or surgery or anything. I'm self diagnosing here... I'm pretty sure I have something called Misophonia, which, according to WebMD is a "disorder in which certain sounds trigger emotional or physiological responses that some might perceive as unreasonable give the circumstance". Certain noises DRIVE ME NUTS! I can't stand mouth noises in particular. Mouth noises are lip smacking, throat clearing, loud chewing, etc...... It's the worst!!!! Of course, a coworker does all of these things, so I feel insane right now! UGH!!! I wish I could just not let it bother me, but that's not how this works.

    Mouth Noises

Humming annoys me too. I've noticed that if it's an actual tune, then it's fine, but if it's just random humming, it drives me nuts.

    Death in Family Again

I'm so sorry, Kathy. That is a lot of loss in a such a short amount of time. I will say a prayer for you and your family. Hugs to you.

Anyone here lost over 100lbs in 6-9 months?

Yes, it's definitely possible. I did start out a lot higher than you did, but I still say it's possible. I will warn against setting timed weight loss goals though. I did that in the past, and it wasn't mentally healthy for me. Maybe you'll be okay with it, but I found myself losing weight but not being happy with the loss because I didn't hit X amount of pounds lost by X date. Now, I just celebrate every pound lost, and it's been a much more enjoyable experience for me.

Congrats!!! You've done a great job! 32 more pounds, and I'll be able to join you in the non-obese category!

    NSV's Spring 2019 Edition

When I started my journey, I was in size 32 pants, now I'm in size 18. It feels amazing to be able to buy pants anywhere!

    Liquid Tylenol

I bought the children's liquid Tylenol and the adult liquid Tylenol. Take it from someone who has been there, DON'T buy the children's version; it's sickly sweet; it tastes like straight up sugar, which isn't great right after the surgery. Go for the regular adult liquid Tylenol. I took that and had no problems.

    Pre op diet

I was required to attempt to lose weight for 6 months prior to my surgery. In that 6 month pre-op period, I went from 463 to 405.

    Vitamins - Yuck!

I've never taken the chewables, only the ones that are swallowed. I'm glad too, because I don't think I'd like the chewables, and I've had no problems swallowing the pills. I think the one I take is the Bariatric Advantage Multivitamin. It used to be a once a day pill; now, it's three a day. I don't love that, but at least I can take them all at the same time. I've just got to make sure I take it around 30-45 minutes after eating.
  16. I wouldn't think that you're wait time would start over. This didn't happen to me though, so I'm not sure. I had to lose a certain amount in that 6 month period though. There wasn't a certain amount that I had to lose each appointment. @Ann64Not everyone has to wait. My insurance required that I wait 6 months and be under a doctor's diet before they would pay for me to have the surgery done.

    Support from family

I've been very fortunate and I haven't received any negative feedback for my decision, and I've told everyone about it who will listen lol. I hate that they're not supporting you. Our loved ones tend to worry about us, and I'm sure that's why they're saying the things that they're saying. You know why you're making this choice though, and you've researched it, so you know how it can help you. Best of luck to you. I think that you're family will come around the closer your date gets here!

    How much water to drink?

Dang, you're doing great! I got about 64oz of water when I was 10 days out.
  19. FancyChristine15

    Gulping water

You will eventually be able to drink water much faster than you can now. I'm almost 1 year out, and every once in a while, I still have pain when I take too big of drinks though. Just be careful and listen to your body. It'll let you know.

    When does it get better?

I had the sleeve surgery, but I had all of these symptoms as well for the first 5 days or so post op. Well, the nausea lasted a bit longer; I ended up having to be prescribed Zofran for the nausea, as it lasted a couple of weeks and I couldn't stand it any longer. I'm sure you'll be okay. Just hang in there a few more days!

    Im so angry

I concur with what most everyone said. You can't want this for him, and you can't expect him to do a certain program or stick to a certain program just because you want him to. Yeah, it will make it more difficult for you if he isn't eating the same as you, but you're the one who ultimately decides what you eat, not him.

    16-17 days post op

In the pureed stage, I ate cottage cheese quite a bit; it went down easily and kept me full a long time. I also did fat free refried beans and shredded chicken
  23. So, I've been getting dizzy when I stand up. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen regularly enough for me to notice. Well, yesterday, it happened every time I stood up; I would get so dizzy that I would just have to stand there for a minute so that I wouldn't fall over. Well, today, on top of the dizziness, there is a pressure in the back of my head when I stand up. I just spoke to a nurse and explained it to her. She asked me a few questions, and I explained that I usually get my water in, but I haven't the last 2 days, and she thinks that could be it. Anyone else have this issue?

How do I know I'm not being impulsive?

I had an "A-ha" moment when I knew that I HAD to do something to lose the weight. I went to a bariatric surgery info session the next day, and I signed up to meet with the doctor. I did no research before I did that. I was so overweight though, that I was miserable. I did some research after meeting with the doctor, but none prior to. Best of luck with everything!

    To everyone

I'm almost a year out, but I had a good recovery. The best thing I did was get up and walk as soon as I could. The worst thing for me was the gas pain. Thankfully, that only last for a couple of days, because it was awful. I have had fantastic results so far though, so I would do it all again if I had to. According to your stats, you're still pre-op. I wish you the best of luck!
