    Cannot stomach shakes

Within the last month I switched to Isopure Zero/Low Carb mix. It's great! Not too thick (I mix 1 scoop with 8 oz of water), and it's not too sweet (I actually add 1 packet of Stevia to a scoop). I tried drinking a Premier Protein after switching, and it made me nauseous. I like the Cookies N Cream and Dutch Chocolate flavors.

    The Cookie Incident

I like what you said at the end there. I also can't keep things at home that I shouldn't have. It just makes it so much more convenient to eat these things. I've lived alone for a while now, and that's been easy to do. I will have a roommate next month though, so it will be a bit harder. We've both got this. You're right, you're NOT a loser!

Thank you! I lost 58 of those pounds pre-op.

    Need help

Track everything that you're eating. I like the MyPlate app, but a lot of people here use the MyFitnessPal app; use what works for you. Set a protein goal for yourself, and hit that goal daily. Maybe start with 60g. That's where I started, but then move up to 80g, then maybe up it again, if you wish; personally, I try for 100g a day. When I'm aiming to get that much protein in, there isn't a lot of room for junk food. Set a water goal, and hit it everyday. Just go back to the basics and stick to them. You know what to do!

    Dec 2013 VSG'ers: 5 year update?

I lost the weight with just diet and exercise. I got down from like 443 to 265. Then I gained it all back.

    Dec 2013 VSG'ers: 5 year update?

Congrats on the progress that you have made and on catching yourself before you gain more. I wish that I would have done that in the past, instead of gaining all of my weight back!

    Discouraged

I think you're doing great! It is possible to stretch out your stomach, but it's VERY unlikely. You would have to overeat continuously. I doubt that you've done that at 7 weeks out. Stop worrying, and just follow your doctor's instructions. You've got this!

    Exercise ??

My doctor told me that I could start exercising right away. I couldn't do a lot, but I did take laps around my apartment building with my dog the day I got home from surgery.

This stall is gonna break... right??

I don't think that skipping meals is going to help you. You're already getting very little calories, which is normal for where you are in the program. I would advise to add more water. You've got this!

    Mini bypass

I have never heard of a mini bypass. What do you mean by your sleeve stopped working? When did you get it? Are you following a diet and exercise regimen? Are you drinking your water?

    Early Gains?

I can't stand to see those little fluctuations through the week, which is why I only weigh once a week. There are too many head games for me to weigh daily. Maybe you should stay off the scale for a little while and see if that helps.

    Highest weight

I feel ya, friend. My highest weight was 463. I have to get a physical once a year for my insurance at work, and when I went in to get weighed, they had to try 3 different scales before they found one that would weigh me. It ended up being a blessing, really, as I made up my mind right then that I had to do something. There was a Bariatric info session the next day, and I signed up and went to it. I haven't looked back since, and I'm 178 pounds lighter now.

    fears

Not at all. The first month is definitely the hardest. I would do it all again if I had to.

    Purée Diet

As long as you were able to eat it okay, I would think that you're fine. I would try to stick to healthier items though. So, not mashed potatoes and gravy. I did quite a bit of cottage cheese during that phase. I also did some fat free refried beans....things like that.

    Worried About Water

It's different for everyone. I was able to get my water in on day 3 of my surgery. I took small sips, but I got it all in. No. I'm not always thirsty. I drink fairly normally now; I don't sip anymore, and I haven't for a while. I'm 8 months post-op. You'll be fine!
  19. For the most part, you will have a hungry feeling again, even after your surgery. That is a common misconception that people seem to have; people think they because they've had surgery, they won't be hungry again. Know that you probably will. Sometimes it may be head hunger, but sometimes it's actual hunger. I didn't experience it right after surgery, but I did experience hunger a couple of months post op. Just an FYI

    Caffeine (coffee/preworkouts

I don't remember when exactly, but I did drink coffee way before 6 months, and I was fine. I started with a cup a day of half-caff. It was probably about 2 months post-op. At about 4 or 5 months, I was drinking a cup of regular coffee a day, which is what I still drink. I have acid reflux issues though, and the regular coffee was irritating me, so I switched to cold brew, and it's fine now.

    How did you do it?

I've never been told not to have any specific food. I have been told to eat on small plates only. Start eating protein, if still hungry, eat vegetables, then if still hungry, eat the other thing. I generally only have room for the protein and sometimes the veggies. I've been told to track how much protein I'm getting a day and that I should get at least 80 grams; I usually try for 100g.

    FISHING FOR COMPLIMENTS

In the left photo (pre-op) , I was in my choir’s 80s concert. In the right photo (7 months post-op) I was in the play “You Can’t Take It With You”.

    Pre op proteins

I like the Isopure Zero Carb. I mix 1 scoop with 8oz of water and 1 packet of stevia. It's thinner than pre-made shakes, which i prefer, and it's not as sweet.

    First Gain

LOL! Thanks, @FluffyChix! I'm not letting it get me down. I can't get upset about a small gain. I've just got to get back to doing what I know works!

    First Gain

So, for the first time since my surgery, I gained weight this week. I gained 2.6 pounds. I know what I did though. I didn't track one day, and I over ate another day. I also didn't drink enough water or eat enough protein. Onward!
