I've been banded for about five years, and use a few methods to clear being stuck. I'm just curious if anyone else has something different. Things I use: I stand up and then bend over and touch my toes, I stay in that bent over position for 45 seconds to a minute. I do that a few times in a row. Another thing I use it raise my arms above my head and hang from the door jam. Well not hang, but hold on to the top of the door jam and let me weight hang. This seems to stretch the band to clear the stink. I've tried papaya pills, and never seen that help much. Tried warm liquids before, and that just made it compress more.

Ok... I know I did wrong, but I need advice. I went out on Saturday and drink way to much, well you guessed it. I vomited for two hours. So now I'm stuck with massive chest pain, and I even have shortness of breathe. Does everyone think the bad slipped, or just inflamed? I called the doctor, and they want me to come in for more unfil, and possibly X-rays.

Anyone else gone through this?

I feel pressure below my rib cage. I wonder if that's a sign of the band slippage.
-
Great!!! The reason I think I have a slip is that I can feel pressure lower then where I normally feel the band. Grrr. Crap!!!

I've had the band now for roughly a year and a half, and over the past 6 months or so. I notice that if I don't eat for a long time, the first few bites I take, I get stuck. No matter how small of bites, and how much I grind down the food. I don't drink before I eat, so there isn't any liquids present. Has anyone else experienced this?

Does everyone do the let the band rest?
-
Wow... I never thought about this. So does everyone give their band rest? Doing liquids for a few days. It's funny you say that, because I notice I'm able to increase my portion size over the past few months. So is this what I need, to let rest.
-
It's weird, it literally is the first bite or two and bam. Stuck!! Any other remedies people are using to help with this? I really wonder why it does that.
-
Are you saying I'm having a hard time swallowing? Or is the food getting caught at the band? More information: after several minutes, the pain intensifies, and I can almost feel the food pass the band. (I think it's passing the band)

My doctor told me to weigh out my food, and keep it to four ounces each meal. So my question, is four ounces normal? And is that forever?

What portions do you eat?

So if you don't weigh your food, how do you know if it's 3 oz? And if you eat 3 oz of Protein, and a cup of whatever, you don't feel over stuffed? -

I was using cups, and my doctor said not to use it that way. They said it's because you can have very heavy food that isn't good on your stomach. I guess a cup of Pasta weighs less then a cup of say steak. Or vice versus. So they told me 4 ounces per meal. 2 of those ounces had to be a Protein at the least. -

I've not told anyone about this surgery except my wife, and I think it's going to be really hard to continue to hide this if I can only eat four ounces forever. But I know if I were to eat more, I'd probably get nausea or throw, at least I think. Haven't had this issue yet. -
Can everyone tell me what they feel when their full? I've been getting all the below, and its random.... Guess I'm still trying to figure this out. Shoulder pain? Chest Pain? Stomach full?

Hello hello.... I'm two weeks post-op and on the mushy food stage. What's weird is I still cannot tell when to stop. I eat, and don't feel full, so I eat some more, and then... BAM chest pain, and miserable for an hour until it drains down. So I know they said to eat 4 oz meals, but I'm lost... what's 4 oz? I've tried using a cup to portion my food. 1/2 cup and thats usually where I cut it off.

Portions and when to stop
dyingbreed replied to dyingbreed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I guess thats really it. I just need to eat real slow. So the half of a cup is not crazy talk? I was thinking I wasn't eating enough, but once the band catches it, I feel fine. I was also filled during the procedure, I guess this is a newer thing now to get patients to start losing weight quicker. I've lost 17 lbs in two weeks, so I guess thats been good in their opinion. -

I'd be interested to hear this as well. -
My surgery has only put me on the Clear liquids for three days before my procedure. Water, sugar, water, sugar.... for three days. How many days did you have to liquid? Is this normal?

What are some Self Pay Finance Options? I heard Care Credit, Chase Health. But the rates are crazy, and they won't lend for the full amount.

what type of questions were you asked on your physiological evaluation for the lap band? -
Lap Band Port site pictures
dyingbreed replied to dyingbreed's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for posting those. I guess I'm concerned you'll be able to see my port after. I'm big, but when not huge. And I think once the weight is gone, it will be noticeable. -
Can everyone post some pictures of their port site? I'm curious if you can see the port after a large amount of weight loss?
